Just to update this (6 months on  )... Car passed its first MOT no probs (screen wasn't even mentioned despite car being spotless and scratch fairly noticeable as it was so clean) - I don't think my mum really notices it as her shortsight isn't so great so had left it but I do see it when I drive it... So, I finally got round to having a go at this yesterday using the Ceriglass and a Makita polisher with a small foam pad, masked off a section and covered the car in dust sheets. I probably spent about 2 hours in total doing passes, letting it cool, cleaning it and going again - while I've not got rid of them completely it's now a hell of a lot better and hardly noticeable unless you point it out / know it's there! I'm fairly pleased with my efforts and as with most scratches, the polish bevels the edges and makes it less noticeable but I think it was worth it as would be a shame to change a screen on a car so new and with only 12k miles. I think running the machine at 2k rpm did the job but hard to tell as I started at around half that and got more confident as time went on and also started using more polish / paste - used around half the small bottle I bought from Clean Your Car.

Dirt cheap though... £2k without an MOT, £5k with?

Will take the rear top mounts please.

Crash! Bang! Wallop! Corrado @ The Nürburgring ...

Ooouch - yeah that's fairly written off -
Welcome to the forum, Look at replacing the ECU relay and also check the lambda wiring near the rear engine mount - try unplugging it and see if it runs better... Engine earths around the gearbox / battery area are also a good place to check

As I said earlier I've never seen one sheer like that and as you're sure it was fitted correctly then I think Euro have to take some responsibility for it... I'd be demanding at least a full refund plus the parts needed to fix the can - I think you should threaten them with taking it further and also push for the part to be sent back to the manufacturer for analysis - that's is who they should be claiming off!

What car is it going on, a VR6??
-
Jesus... last one I bought was about half that but that was probably 7/8 years ago...
-
Yeah it's a Polo part number that superseded the original... dealers may have one in stock if you're lucky! Worth getting a new key cut while you're at it if it's old / worn
-
Sorry to hear about you Granddad mate :-( I would check you've got the correct part from GSF though as the GKN ones I use all come with a 6 sided nut - part number should be 302175 ---------- Post added at 7:55 AM ---------- Previous post was at 7:52 AM ---------- ^ Sorry ignore that - is this for a VR6??? If so then it should be a 12 point nut and the one supplied by ECP must have been the wrong part for the car I reckon, hence why it broke!
-
Green H&R's go very well with Koni's
-
You can see the 6 side nut in the pic Jim but no washer...

I was thinking that but I've never seen a CV sheer... front bearing usually give a bit of warning / humming etc and don't fail catastrophically like that. Yeah 2 types of nut, plus suspension uses a 12 point type with in-built washer and the base suspension models use a 6 sided with separate washer although they can be interchanged. I can't see the washer in the photo - was it definitely fitted?? Was the wheel torque'd up correctly to 265Nm?

Yep Q-drive stuff is really poor quality, always go for OEM brands like GKN, Conti, Hengst, SKF etc This sort of pattern stuff will get an old Golf through an MOT but you're talking a 130+ MPH sports car here - don't risk it!!

Very nice!!! Fancy sending me a backing pad :-) ? -
Yeah, I saw the receipts - even with TPS discounts he spent thousands!! He's a nice guy, just a shame that he paid a lot of money to people for work that didn't really get done that well and he never got to enjoy the finished product! I'm sure it's superb now but I just couldn't justify the time-input required to fix it - for instance when I drove it it was full of water, and I mean literally - you could have had fish in the rear footwells!!
-
That is insane isn't it... I am a believer that you generally get what you pay for but when I saw the car down at G-werks both sills had paint litterally flaking off, I remember running my finger along and more came off, I'd be furious If i'd payed a figure like that!
