It has been done to death, but I don't think there's any one definitive thread on exactly what to do so... Dash switches - prise them apart carefully, remove the green plastic filter and replace with red cellophane OR remove the filter and replace the illumination bulb with a 12V red 3mm LED Window/sunroof switches - carefully prise apart, remove the green LEDs and replace with std voltage red 3mm LEDs Heater panel - afaik, no1 has yet converted an early spec to red... Cigarette lighter - scrapyard, get the lighter from a 95-on Passat, or a 90-on SEAT. Instrument cluster - remove from car and dismantle. replace green overhead strips with red cellophane, remove displays from circuit board and replace green filters with red or blue cellophane depending on preference. you can also reverse the polarising filter (red on black instead of black on red) but you'll need to wire up the backlight bulbs to come on with the ignition, not the lights. Think that just about covers it!

Ultimate Car In Your Price Range (ish)
gradeAfailure replied to biggerbigneil's topic in General Car Chat
Either one of the original Audi RS2 estates, or possibly a 968CS... Having said that, they do say that you're not a true petrolhead til you've owned an Alfa, and damn the GT is sex on four wheels... -

Stealth RR DVD - Poll Updated (Price of DVD, etc)
gradeAfailure replied to G60Jet's topic in General Car Chat
The printer I'd be using is a £7500 dye-sublimation thermal re-transfer printer - not inkjet, so no smudging at all, and photo finish. Jim, if you leave a small white rectangle in the on-body design, I can write an automated script to individually serial number each disc on one of our automated printer units... ;) [/geek mode] -
Stealth RR DVD - Poll Updated (Price of DVD, etc)
gradeAfailure replied to G60Jet's topic in General Car Chat
I'm in for one at that price, and I suspect Laura will be too... Jim, that's top stuff with the inlay! We like... Reckon you could do something similar for the on-body print for the disc? Outer diameter 120mm, inner diameter 15mm. G60Jet, I may be able to do the duplication and photo-quality on-body print here at work for just the cost of the media, dependant on the quantity (up to about 500)... Drop me a PM if this would help keep cost down! -
Welcome to the forum chap! Nice lil 106 you got there :) My sis has one of the basic 1.1 models, and whilst it's a but tinny, they're fun to chuck about!

just another excuse for the government to put "legal" surveillance on otherwise law-abiding tax-paying citizens... remember, it won't be long before there's black boxes in cars - at which point, I'm bl**dy emigrating...

Stealth RR DVD - Poll Updated (Price of DVD, etc)

If you need details of companies who can do a pro job on duplicating it, supplying boxes, printing inlays, on-body prints for the DVDs, etc, drop me a PM - it's kind of my specialist area... ;) -
ach, b4lls to the lot of 'em i say... anyone for a mass forum emigration?! maybe if we all chip in a bit we could buy one of those small eastern European countries and install our own government...? Corradoland! (with exceptions for Passats, obviously ;)) I hate the way they always justify the intrusion of big brother by saying "if you're doing nothing wrong, you have nothing to fear" - what the hell ever happened to personal liberty and freedom of the individual...?

Didn't the AA and the RAC used to be more than just a breakdown service? They were organisations that fought for the rights of the motorist... In America, their Automobile Association (or whatever it's called) actively fights the government on issues that affect motorists - they managed to get Gatsos banned because in their constitution you have the right to be confronted by your accuser if being accused of a crime. Can you imagine any organisation over here fighting the motorist's corner like that? Hell no... The poor car driver is one of the last social groups that it is acceptable to target, and I think it's about time it stopped. Public transport is overpriced (went to London on Sat - £15 for a return Travelcard!) and doesn't suit the majority of peoples travel needs. They need to get freight back on the railways and free up the roads. They need to...AAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! [/head explodes] [/rant over]

tbh, i'll still be running them - in fact, i'm still considering getting white plates all round with German style spacing as well... if i get fined, i get fined, and i'll just pay it... if it happens more than once a month though i think i might have to reconsider!

There's a circlip on the very back of the lock barrel - take it off, put key in lock barrel and turn it, and the barrel just slides out... Refitting is, as they say, the reverse of removal! :)
-
lame...
-
Though if you buy a new handle, it's the work of about 30 seconds (literally) to change the lock barrels over so you still keep your original key... ;)

When will it end? Man killed by thieves in his OWN car!
gradeAfailure replied to Jim's topic in General Car Chat
What too few people seem to ask is, why are kids these days doing this? The education system is failing them, parents are absolved of all responsibility for their childrens' actions, no-one feels a sense of pride or worth at anything they do anymore, physically disciplining your children is being banned by the nanny state (there's a difference between disciplining and hitting, for those who might take that the wrong way), the list goes on... Whilst you cannot in any way condone behaviour of this kind, you have to look to the root causes of the problems in order to find a solution, rather than fighting violence with violence... Having said that, if it'd been anyone I know, they might have found out just how easy it is to run headfirst into a crowbar... -
Was the start button connected into any other circuit? Could some wires for an immobiliser be involved along the line somewhere?

http://www.eurpoeanplates.net look cheaper than just about everyone else...!

Wonder if they'll have any Storm badge kits... ;)

Firewall = metal panel that separates the engine bay from the passenger area ;) Sorry if any of what I said was equivalent to Russian! :)

Right... Sunroof - could be one of a number of things - use the search and you'll come up with a few threads on it! Mirrors - the plug in the back of the switch can come loose occasionally Rear wiper - where the cables go from the roof into the tailgate they can break due to being flexed Stereo - loose connection on the back of the head unit in the dash possibly Heater - most likely an airlock in the system - try running the car from cold with the expansion tank cap off and squeezing all the water hoses to get the coolant round the system and any air should escape Hope this helps!
