I'm not looking to buy either - can barely afford a 2.0 8V Passat at the mo! - just thought I'd see what peeps opinions were... Not really surprised at the answers tbh!

Whilst idly trawling through Autotrader online, I've been noticing that the BMW 328i Sport Coupes of about N-R reg are selling for about £3.5-5.5k - and these are all with full leather, climate control, all the toys, and around the 90-120k mark on the mileage... Seems to be a bargain price compared to Corrado VR6s with similar mileage and being a few years older, plus the BM has a 24V lump in it... Yes, I know you'd become a BMW-driving numpty, but what's the unbiased () opinion...? Not that I'm looking to buy either, just idle speculation...!

I thought the calipers were the same and it was just the carriers and the discs that were needed? My 'rat originally had 256mm fronts and was converted to the 280mm by the previous owner - he said all he changed were the carriers and the discs...

Yup, definitely sounds like a wheel bearing, sounds exactly like what mine did when they went...
-
Could be an ISV problem...? I have no idea where it's located on a 1.8 valver, but I'm sure someone who does will be along soon...!
-
The yellow one on airride is for sale on the E38 forum at the mo - though it's been returned to standard coilovers... :( Some lovely pics there, seen that blue one at the top before and loved it...

Such a lovely rado, one of my personal favourites... shame i'll not get to see it again - maybe a trip to oz will be in order! heheh, scare some of theose Holdens mate...! -
I believe that if it smokes blue on startup or when you get on the throttle after a period of overrun, then it's likely to be the valve stem seals/guides; if it smokes on full throttle then it's more likely to be the piston rings... c'est vrai, n'est pas?

Just seen this advert on tv for car insurance !
gradeAfailure replied to BigTartanJudge's topic in General Car Chat
isn't it weird that an insurer giving preferential treatment to women is acceptable, yet a male-oriented one would be sexist...? [/2p] will have to keep an eye out for the ad though...:) -
veeDuB_Rado, have a look here - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Engine_tuning - should explain pretty much most of it!

Corrado spotting! Was it you - [October 2005]

i doubt it - scarlett's rado is sitting on my drive in guildford awaiting replacement of rear stub axle and various brake and bearing parts...! :( -
Ahhh, damnit, you got it working then! Heheh, Laura and I were gonna try and beat you to it by doing this to hers... ;)
-
We were lucky not to lose the rear wheel tbh - you should have seen the state of the thrust washer when i managed to chisel it out! It's more the fact that we have so much going on at the mo, the last thing we needed was having to do more work on the car! And it's £200-odd that we really didn't want to have to spend... Should have taken the 'rat... ;) (just joking dear!) And yeah, the front bearings are worse... (guess why i'm letting the garage do those as well...)
-
ach, the best cossie was the RS500, but we all know that... ;) i don't really know what the modern equivalent of the Rado is - i wouldn't say the Focus RS as you can buy a standard Focus, the 350Z i seem to actually see quite a lot of, so maybe the Integra Type-R...? but then the Brera beats them all on looks so i'd have to go with that!
-
To be fair, Laura did buy it knowing that it needed work - it's just been annoying that it's not giving us any respite at the mo...! And yeah, the stub axle won't be a lot of money, it's just the little things that constantly keep cropping up that are irritating! Still, with every part we replace, it's one less to go wrong  fingers crossed... Andi - the first flatbed put the car on backwards and no spoiler scrapeage, the second one (we were relayed back!) put it on forwards, and no scrapeage there either... 4x4 standard suspension may have something to do with that! ;)
-
...and breathe, Kev! hacks me off a treat though - i have to admit to just sticking in the left-hand lane and undertaking them... most of the time they get the message and pull in once i'm past...
-
Mr Renshaw actually did both of the installs in Andi and Guy Hartley's cars - apparently after finishing Andi's, he was heard to say "Never again!"; this from the man who built a MKIV Corrado...!

Phil K's old C and others - new German Coupe!
gradeAfailure replied to Phil K's topic in Members Gallery
Looking good matey...! :D -
Well, the mods you want to do are reversible anyways, so i wouldn't worry about it too much! besides, i don't think that modding a storm is sacrilege anyhow - a campaign, now that would be different!
-
Corrados never came from the factory with aircon, so any buttons will be aftermarket - which I suspect will be the reason for the loose fit and lack of illumination...
-
I'd have a look at the Pug 205 1.8 STDT - friend of mine had one and she reckoned it was ace...

beat you to it! shame we didn't get a group love pic at E38 - 30-way loving would have been a winner!
-
