  1. Have been round umpteen breakers - the problem is that mine has a very specific headlining that matches the grey leather interior, and I've not seen another Passat 35i B3 with leather and a sunroof over here... Am trawling eby.de but as yet haven't figured out what the German for "headlining" is! ;) Yeah, there is a lot of Daves on here - there's actually so many Daves in my circle of friends that we all have denominators! There's a Posh Dave, Big Dave, Stalker Dave, Teletubby Dave, Hippy Dave - the list goes on... Me? I'm d&b Dave... :)
  2. That sucks on the car mate, but glad to hear you're mostly ok! I'm sure there's people out there who think it's big and hard to drive without a seatbelt - maybe this'll make them think twice...
  3. love is in the air... ;) Nasty pics of the R32 though - it's the thought of hitting motorway bridge supports that keeps my speed down...
  4. Mate that sucks... Hope the insurance claim goes smoothly enough and you get yourself back in a rado soon enough!
  5. Been using that as a temporary fix but it's not working too well as the foam backing of the original fabric has started degrading and it's all just gone a bit manky and won't stick! Really just need to get it back to plain card and start again unfortunately... :(
  6. Went to swap my sunvisors for swanky VR6 Passat ones only to find that they sit at the wrong angle and look just wrong... And this was after I'd modified the wiring plugs to suit... Grrrr.... Stropped out and started stripping trim in preparation for getting the headlining out instead...!
  7. Errr, yeah - anyone know where I can get replacement headlining fabric that has the squidgy foam backing as mine has finally decided to give up the ghost and fall off the headlining card, thus making my car look reeeeely pikey in the process... Am waiting on a couple of interior retrimmers getting back to me, but just wondered if anyone knew a definite place to get it? Phoned the stealers but they don't supply the fabric on its own, and a new headlining is £270! Yeah, right, I think maybe I won't be going for that option Mr VW rip-off merchant... ;) T'ank'ee kindly chaps!
  8. Yeah, I don't really know what's happened - having just read the GB threads - but tbh, if Kev's leaving then it's his business not ours... I for one would think it a great tragedy to lose a helpful, funny, articulate, nice guy from this forum simply because there's been a bit too much bitching of late... Having just joined the E38 forum, it seems that this forum has a bit of a bad reputation on other forums for being too quick to shoot people down and for being very cliquey. I'm not agreeing or disagreeing as I love this forum and think that the vast majority of people on here rock like big hairy crazy monkeys, and there is a real sense of community. Having said that, I can kind of see where and why some of these opinions are being formed... That's not a judgement in any way; I think that maybe sometimes we occasionally need to step back and give people the benefit of the doubt, and remember that at the end of the day, these are just cars and there are far more important things in life to get upset over... Peace and love to you all, keep it real... Big hugs to any of you that need em... :)
  9. Saw G60 MTV in Guildford again the other night - so decided to stop the 'rat next to him and have a chat! Apparently he is a forum member but hasn't been on in ages... :)
  10. Looking very classy indeed! Hopefully see this at E38 (along with the squillions of other lush cars!)
  11. What's happening to the engine/charger...?
  12. I think you'll find that very few people on here have bought their Corrado as an investment - pretty much everyone on here is an owner because of their love & devotion to the car itself...!
  13. Whoah mate, that's mental... Glad to hear yr ok...! Finally converted the one remaining green switch to red yesterday, gonna have a crack at fixing my heater controls today which should mean that my aircon buttons light up red and the illumination conversion is complete! Woooo! Though am considering reversing the LCD screens now... Gotta try and temporarily sort the headlining out til I get some new fabric... :(
  14. The 'rat got checked out by three mechanics at a garage last weekend as I pulled out of a petrol station... Then again, scarlett was sat in the passenger seat so it may not have been the car they were looking at...!
  15. Isn't the Octavia VRS supposed to be quite a nice machine...?
  16. Welcome to the forum mate, good luck in your noble Quest Of Rado...
  17. Dark blue, think it was a VR, M* DOM, southbound on the A3 at Guildford this morning... This afternoon, white on BBS RCs, debdged grill and eyebrow spoiler, think I recognised this from one of the SE meets? J*** BKU in Dorking...
  18. note to self: don't ask stooopid questions ever again... at least, not for a few hours... and yeah, that Bugatti must've had some influence on the Batmobile styling!
  19. Dave, control himself?! Impossible - it goes with the name... ;) heheh What you up to tomorrow then D?
  20. Like Marmite, love it or hate it, you can't deny the quality of the workmanship... Mentalicious! Dave like...
  21. Yes, that'll be me and my memory-like-a-sieve-with-the-mesh-missing...;) Still think that they (and the ATS Cups) look better on MK2 Golfs...
  22. At the end of the day, the owner of a mag-featured car will have no say in how they write up the car, just like any other magazine article about anything else that you might read... I personally don't have the skills to be able to do what Jay, Phat, Ben, and others are doing to their cars, but should that prevent me from owning the car of my dreams if I can afford to pay people who know what they're doing to build it for me? And if a magazine thought it was an amazing car, should I refuse to have it featured because I didn't create it myself? Sometimes you need to be the one with the vision of how the car should look/be... Architects get praised for buildings but did they lay any of the bricks themselves...? Then again, if I were in that situation, I would always make it clear who was behind all the work, and would want to proof-read any article if possible, so that people wouldn't get the wrong impression and judge on facts that may or may not be accurate... tinkle [/2p]
  23. Not seen them on a 'rado yet but wouldn't look right imho... Suit Golfs and Polos better I think... Plus they're too common these days!
  24. Yup, OEM+ (and Coxy's first post) - I'm in total agreement... Kev's, OSV's, Jay's, etc - it's the way to keep it I reckon - looking like how VW would have made it if they hadn't had financial constraints and the like... Though I do have a soft spot for some of the madder Euro 'rados if they're not too blinged! Not sure you can really say the same about the 'rat's lines though!
