Bilstein PSS Coilovers (Previously H&R Coilovers)
gradeAfailure replied to AmbisoniK's topic in Drivetrain
There's a few places in Germany selling the FK coilovers on eBay for around the 400Euro point - that's about £275 in old money, plus the shipping, which shouldn't be more than about 40Euro... Gewindefahrwerk is German for coilovers, I believe; they do two versions (I'm guessing one for the valvers and G60, and one for the VR), you just tell 'em which car they're going onto and they send you the correct set... http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... 95493&rd=1 -
Have fun, lucky get...! How'd you get tickets?! I'd love to go back and see the place - stopped working there about 7 years ago, not long before BAe left...
-
Leon, all the way... They just look hard as nails!

That sucks m8, harsh...

Top Gear is filmed at Dunsfold Aerdrome, about 10 miles south of Guildford on the A281 - I know this because I used to work there when it was a British Aerospace site...! Come round the M25 til J10, then take the A3 to Guildford. Come off the A3 into Guildford town centre and follow signs for Horsham A281. About 8-9 miles out of Guildford you'll go past Smithbrook Kilns - take the first right immediately after. At the end of the road, turn right, and about 200m later, take the road on the left as the main road does a sharp right turn. At the end of that road is Dunsfold aerodrome. If you miss the right turn after Smithbrook Kilns, just turn right at the traffic lights about 100m later, and carry on till you reach the sharp right turn, with the road to Dusfold on the left. The postcode for the aerodrome is GU8 4BS if you want to use http://www.multimap.com Hope this helps! :)

I say go for Audi and Porsche combined - the RS2 Avant! http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... eName=WDVW or in RHD: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... eName=WDVW Plus I believe that in Europe they happily tune them up to over 600bhp...

Right - here's my definitive (well, by my standards!) answer - and I'm agreeing with OSV here; green bulbs are the way to go... On rear lights with three coats of spray with the stripes masked, then a final fourth coat without the stripes, plus lacquer over the top, green bulbs give by far the most orange light when shone through the lenses. White and orange bulbs just shone mostly red...! So now I'm mostly legal again! Still got pink reverse lights though...
-
Well, Phil and I sprayed two sets of lights - one of which are now on the Passat - and having now seen mine at night, I can confirm that the indicators are definitely more red than orange, and that's with orange bulbs too! Think i may try with green bulbs as advised by OSV!
-
Heh, buying them ain't the bad thing; it's people fitting them that's the problem...!
-
Well, Guildford place is only open Saturdays "by appointment" - but I did speak to the guy there who said that powder coat, a diamond-cut rim, and lacquering would be about £55+VAT per wheel, so I think I'll give BJV Engineering ( http://www.wheelrefurbishing.co.uk ) a go as they're £38+VAT per wheel for the same service... Will report back on quality once I've got it done!
-
Heh, just put a post in the Suppliers forum about this - there's a company called Wicked Wheels ( http://www.wickedwheels.com ) that does mobile refurbing but they also have a few drive-in centres - there's one in Guildford and I'm going there tomorrow so will report back!
-
Right - these guys have a drive-in centre at Slyfield; I think I may get them to do my BMW rims very soon as I want em done for N/R! http://www.wickedwheels.co.uk/Locations.htm Will let you know the results...
-
Anything retro that'll suit a Euro-look Indian Red Passat...! Or I may just get my deep dish BMW 6-spokes that are on at the mo refurbed... Either way, should have something sorted for N/R!
-
Yeah, for about the past two weeks - to the point of knowing all the german for "split rims", "polished", "deep dish", etc...! Have got a post on this in the Wanted section so if anyone has any pointers, stick 'em there cheers! bighands, hopefully see you and yr 'rado(with non-rubbing wheels!) at the next N/R?
-
Have seen a Capri S rebadged as "iS Cr*p"...
-
Nae worries chap, us Surrey boys gotta stick together...! now hopefully karma will kick in and someone will help me find a set of deep dish 15s!
-
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... eName=WDVW That's for two spacers, so if you need four, just enter the quantity as "2", for 2 pairs... Hope that helps!

You could do worse than a Citroen ZX Volcane - either the TD or the petrol - I've had two and they're great fun to drive (same chassis as the Pug 306), they don't rust, the interiors wear incredibly well (I'm currently selling a 262000-miler and you'd never know it to look at it!), plus you can still go to GSF for all the bits!

Shadow is the Daddy :notworthy: saw him live in 2002 at Brixton Academy, then his dvd came out and it was of that very show! TomB, if you like Nightwish, check these guys out http://www.seasons-end.com/ :)

Hah, I have some speed garage vinyl from when it started: Double99 - RIPgroove and 187lockdown - Gunman, anyone...? Showing my age... Am loving the new Jimmy Eat World cd, Futures, at the mo; such a shame their Astoria gigs in London are sold out... Other than that, I re-discovered my Deftones - White Pony cd the other week and that's been a solid favourite of late, cracking album to drive to and heavy as hell in places... :notworthy:
-
Errr, that could be because the body is swiss-cheesed! Hmmm, rust=less weight=faster... Heh, an overnight salt bath should do the trick with mine then! Bad jokes aside, nice car!
-
Just seen the pics - damn, that's a sweet ride... Sheesh, what jobs do all the young'uns have these days to be able to afford motors like this??!! (Nearly) 28 and barely scraping by with a £700 Passat! Heheh, just kidding VR6 220, be proud of your car and if you worked for it, don't let anyone tell you ya don't deserve it...

Which lights? .....(Updated with pic's21/1/05)
gradeAfailure replied to Bora Bora's topic in Exterior
All reds - think that's how I'm doing the Passat's lights (after much nagging from PhilK!) Did you stripe the indicators when you did them red? Or just completely cover them, and if so, do the indicators/reverse lights still show their proper colours (albeit witha redddish tinge!)? -
Might as well add my twopenn'orth... I'm a real fan of the Euro look on Dubs, and reckon the bodykitted look is best left to the jap boys (I'll put my hands up and admit to lusting after a Veilside-kitted, 18in chrome split rim-wearing Mazda RX7 here  ) That said, styling is like haircuts - some people still think mullets are cool  , but at least the job's been done properly and if he likes it then that is truly all that should matter... I am always happy to be proven wrong though!

Phat, you are a veritable modern-day Aesop...! Great storytelling... Congrats on getting away without being :2gunfire: as well - one of my exes used to live in Dartford and most of it is pikey as hell!
