  1. thats an interesting point and not one Id thought about. any ideas what the costing for something like that would be?
  2. your right, 4 of em, Cayenne Cayenne S Cayenne Turbo Cayenne turbo S but the Turbo S is the one to have if you have a spare 85K kicking around. I was lucky enough to be taken for a spin in one and the acceleration (5.1 to 60) and braking 60-0 in 2.6 seconds did some interesting things to my insides. Working for Porsche has its benefits.
  3. It would have been the Cayenne, as opposed to the Cayenne S or turbo. the standard cayenne is a 3.2 V6 pushing 250 BHP and 0-60 in 9.1 so you should be leaving them behind. just dont take on a Turbo S beacuse they will leave you behind in a flash.
  4. Cheeky buggah, :D It is a little on the saggy side. and it seems to wallow on twisty sections more than it should. but I always put this down to the huge engine , the car I was chasing seemed to change direction much more positivly than mine.
  5. Right after two years of saying I want to keep the car standard, I got outdone on the twisties yesterday by a Ford Puma on a road I know and love. It seems I need to spend some cash on making the car handle like it should. Herin lies the problem. I know nothing about what I need to do. Sounds like a refurbishment of sorts is needed, and I have a sympathetic mechanic who isnt too expensive but where do I start. If coilovers are the way to go then, do I need bushes too? and what else would sharpen up the wobblies? Oh yeah, I can only really afford about a grand, thanks for any ideas,
  6. May be so but when I had a quote it only cost £20 more to be fully comp. and that included the use of a hire car and legal protection.
  7. When I asked J about fitting one of these he went sort of pale. Aparrently this was a right sod of a job. the fitting was tricky and then the various wiring looms were the bigest headache ever. I would suggest from that, it might not be a weekend DIY job.
  8. He hangs about on E38 under the same name.
  9. What colour is it going to be? Looks like you have a two tone in the offing there.
  10. You may well have an air lock. although I thought VW coolant systems were pressurised which should avoid air locks. Try squezing the hoses a little. failing that, from cool, start car with expansion tank cap open, and wait for the engine to warm up. the coolant will circulate and eventually overflow, this should flush out any air locks.
  11. Nitrogen inflation? Not heard about that before?
  12. Do it Andy, Looks well on your car.
  13. was it boiling hot at the time? Mine went when It was very hot and I was giving it some wiggins down some country lanes. Im guessing the pressure is greater the hotter it gets and if you have a small leak it is more likely to burst when things are pretty warm.
  14. From where I found it in the garage its probably from the front wheel. No discernable wheel wobble, although under hard braking it seems to judder a little. Ill get it put back on and see what happens. Cheers,
  15. Ah, cheers Dan, but the car has been out the garage for a month now. Ill have no way of finding out where it went. Reckon it can wait till I get a new tyre fitted?
  16. Found this on the garage floor. Not entirely sure if it came of the car or not, but if it did how critical would it be?
  17. 22mm Copper joint will do the trick with a couple of jubilie clips.
  18. Ive just managed to get to the wear marks in 8000 miles on a front set of Dunlop SP9000, although they do feel good in the wet I was a bit concerned at how fast they wore.
  19. You wont see it without removing at least half the dash. The best thing to do for now is unplug the two bits of coolant pipe that run in from the engine to the dash, and join them togther, You will have no heating anymore but likewise you wont run the risk of dumping all of your coolant in the carpets.
  20. overtook a hay lorry on a stretch of road only to find there were some funeral cars infront of it and I was running out of road before a corner. It all got a bit embarising as i ducked in the funeral procession. Man did I feel silly.
  21. VW Matrixeseses come from, VW, I was quoted 95 + VAT or German french and sweedish do one for 45 beans.
  22. Bummer, Sorry to hear that chap. Sounds like HR have your details though, that may sound like a cop out but we are not big ebough to be a nameless faceless company. You may still be in with a shot of something. 2 interviews means you obviously have something they want. Chin up.
  23. i cant remember to be honest, Sorry i know that aint much help. I think gradeafailure told me about them.
  24. Neuspeed thermostadt is supposed to be a good replacement for a VR.
  25. the round thing that occasionaly drips could well be the blower motor. It shouldnt be wet really so you may have a build up of leaves and shyte round the air intake. Remove or carefully lift up the scuttle cover and have a good clean round the grill that sits under it. If leaves get caught round this then they will stop water draining away and the only place it will end up is your carpet. Having said that you still might have a heater matrix on the way out. Mine seemed to be leaking for some time before it finally blew. and I had the same symptoms as you, ie not clearing the windows of mist even though the heat inside the car was getting painfull. HTH
