Smashed fog light. Got some new ones...........
ZippyVR6 replied to timg60's topic in General Car Chat
Thats a shi11er, But why would someone go to the trouble of doing in a foggy? the headlight would be much more satisfying. -
Cheers mate, Was a hoot. Sadly there was no GT  , but my instructor saw the boy racer in me and when he was driving managed to powerslide the Blue C4S sideways whilst overtaking someone out of a corner onto the main straight. (which sort of makes up for it :D ) Those guys really know how to drive. :notworthy:

Pretty cool day. The off road and Rally course in the Cayenne was astonishing, serious hills and terain followed by a spot of enthusiastic driving round the rally course with an instructor. I never imagined the chealsea tractor could do quite so well. The dynamics course was a bit of slalom followed by quick turns with and without the PASM (Porsche Active Stability Management). The Cayman is a prety special monster and the Boxster S is a go Kart. they handled amazingly in the wet although I am not the hero I imagined I would be when trying to control a powerslide without electricals to help me. The icing on the cake though was the chance to test drive a fair chunk of the range round the short track, the instructor showed us the racing line and then showed off a bit. then I drove a Carerra 2 and 4S then a Cayman S and a Boxster S, I was astounded how well the little ones handled considering it was a washout with standing water everywhere. but the 997 C4S was amazing. ploughing through puddles and around corners at 80+. It was just a balls out hoot, and stomped all over anything I have ever driven before. I dont think even if I owned one I would ever totally master it, the thing just seemed alive as opposed to the Boxster which was efficient but easy to drive. The electrics were doing their best and we were mostly going in a straight line but you just had that feeling that the car had a soul and at any time it could deliver a big F You, and show you who was the boss. In short, Fcukin Aye, Im going to get me one one day! :D 8) :D

Sounds like a relay issue. Do you know where they are? passenger side behind the under glovebox tray. think it is relay 72.

Gonna need a beer or two to get any sleep tonight! Sorry if it is a bit of a "me me me Aint I lucky" type of post but I just have to share it. Ive been with Porsche 3 months now and they are taking me on a business partner track day tomorrow. We get to drive all the current range and get to really test things out. and best of all. Its going to rain all day :D :D :D :D SIDEWAYS ACTION!

Just a popped fuse. I can have confidance again chucking her around in this miserable weather.

2nd hand matrix? now that is dodgy.
-
Crasher? Sorry to be a pain but the only person I have ever heard say avoid the GSF matrix is you. I did a whole lot of reading up on it before doing the job and would have remembered if many people have said only get the VW one. are you an undercover agent for the VW stealers? or do you have a horror story?

That light green the new bug come in is pretty cool, Hang on a minuite, Pastal colours, on a 150 mph b road attack weapon? whjat are we talking about? Red, black, Blue. Hard colours for a nails motor. Having said that, double-6s is a follower of all things erb, so why not a rat look phycadelic trip wagon?
-
Porsche Lapis Blue would be a cool change.

I took my camera but completly forgot to take any pics. In all honesty it is not that dificult a job. Just unscrew everything that gets in your way, pull out the air ducts and unscrew the heaterbok from throught th bulkhead. If you are planning to do it then a good dose of GT85 /WD40 a few days in advance on the 3 long thin bolts poking through the bulkhead might make things easier. Mine was a molegrip job.

Tsk, you knows Im only joking. the car looks Tip Top now. any news on the power drain?
-
She looks well. J plate VR? I thought the earliest Vrs were K plate?
-
Hmm it was months between the matrix going and the refit, so Im not sure where the water came from if it is, but if it is? will it dry out?
-
Bout bloody time you lazy git  looks ok now.

Welcome along, Hate to say it but you seem to have a few probs there, I would expect to use some of your re-spray budget on getting it straight, Heater martix is definatly shagged. cheap job to fix but a PITA to do. matrix costs about 40 quid from GSF, and the job can be done with out total removal of the dash, but expect to spend some time swearing and grimicing whilst in some very uncomfortable positions. Oil sounds normal to me, Dont stress it, the car gets hot, Symptoms of big engine in small place. Ive had mine up to 130 in peaks of summer, you only need to stop and let it cool if it gets above 140 according to VW. Hmm brakes? not sure about that one, could be binding, has it sat some time? If you are having a total respray they dont need to wory about blending in. but dragon green is still available. Basically the best advice I can give is use the search. Type teh words you are looking for in to the search bar with the word "and" inbetween, ie "heater and matrix" or "oil and temp" and you should be well on for sorting her out, Best of luck.

Have a look at Mikeg60s Monster, IMO the finest example I have seen.

Well, I helped my mechanic guy today as I had nowt else to do, we started at half 9 and were finished by 4, was a sod of a fiddly job but it is done now and works, and gave a chance to clear out all the gunk and rubish in the system. the hardest part was lining up the heaterbox back in place again and making sure the heater controls were routed the right way. I still have no directional control as the cogs are all out of place for that one but everything else works. If you knew what you were doing then it is a 3 or 4 hour job but we had much tea and had to redoo a couple of bits. I thought 130 quid was a bloody good price for the use of someone elses garage, tools and expertese for the day but I doubt he will want to do another one in the near future.

H8RRA, did you ever get to the bottom of this? I have just finished my matrix today and the first drive the abs light came on as soon as i pulled away.
