  1. Have you check the basic? Fuse 16 - 10Amps [red] or Fuse 4 - 15 Amps [blue] or fuse 21 - 15 amps [blue] depending on year of the Corrado. (4 different C/L systems on C's, one with no fuse main panel row) Fuse S52 - 20Amps [yellow] (above the fuse relay panel) If not those, either the alarm output or the pump module in the rear offside of the boot need checking. .

Just in case you still get stuck......... .
  3. It's a compromise on all VW's to absorb engine vibration into the chassis v engine movement in the bay. Remember the original purchaser's at £17k to 22.5k expected something decent to drive. Today the owners are a different "market". (Why did VW bring in the cable change, stop vibration into the pasenger cabin, it's all part of that "engineering" thoughts they had and continue to have). I've had a vibrotechnics front mount for 7 years fitted at the front. Doesn't seem to doing anything naughty with cross frame but I suppose I don't drive enough miles but I do push the car but 190bhp these days is probably not the same as the "extras" being modded in by some peeps. It does still flex a little though I've noticed. Given the engine "rotates" in the engine bay, would it be better to uprate the rear two mounts as well if the front one is done and the driving is going to be racey? .

    wrong bonnet

The part is no longer available (about 10 years now, certainly not listed on the 1995 microfiche). ETKA will only show currently available parts, it's not the build of the car. Even when brand new some of the C fitted parts at the factory were not listed. Applies to all VAG cars. Which why when you go in sometimes to buy genuine parts you end up with a Polo or Golf equivalent. Volume of spares manufacture and all that on older cars. Nuisance if you are looking to keep the car "original". In this case the later bonnet fits all C's, so they've standardised the part as the VR6 needs the later version cos of it's height in the engine bay. Given the current "bulged" hood is 535 823 031A I guess the "dish" version was 535 823 031. I can dig out very old microfiche if some one wants to be anoraking to see if it was ever listed. If you are adament about a 88- 92 one Waz, scrappers are your only option. .
  5. Took 9 months when I did that 1999 as it's more work on the UK peeps to get organised rather than relying on the De's. In the end we had to cut out N as it's quite a haul down to there, not that I'm advocating "don't do it". Just will need more than Eric to organise. If you guys are serious about it, then planning starts in 3 months time for next June with a little team of at least 3 doing the reserach and ideas. Cos a fair bit of the headache is timing everything to sequence during the week or 10 days you are out there. Bit like building a house or extension. Get the order wrong and it screws up. You should consider going to some of the VW factories on the way. They all have official tour guides/centres and are bookable well in advance. Nice guy at the Salzgitter engine plant. Quite a feast to see a floor 400 ft by 200ft full of V5's stacked ready for shipment. I was knackered after the 1999 one I did and there were 3 of us doing the leg work. Stayed in small Hotels which are nice & cheap in most of Germany, Jim will like that! Just my 2p's worth. .
  6. The torque setting is 40Nm (30ft lb). So not too tight., just nip up and 1 hour on the 12 hour clock face forced. 24mm socket with short extension. .
  7. Sensor problem like the ABS. Starts at higher rotational speeds and gradually gets worse. Solutions: - Defective sensor, most likely as it's occuring at higher rpm's. - Loose sensor in the engine block at the lower nearside front. - Loose sender wheel, part no. 021 405 189C - search ETKA to see where it is. It's sandwiched in between the crank & the flywheel so I would have doubts with this one as you would be complaining of clutch funnies. As you say dr_mat clean up the item first as that costs nowt in case it's a bad earth but if this was the case, I'd ecxpect to see failure at low rpm's also. .
  8. Yep, given one (Corrado Keyring), they popped out of the VR6 boot very nicely in 1999.
  9. No not really, just teasing a little although it was in the entrance corner when I visited and the boot was full of Karmann souvenirs. Which I sure you got somewhere along the line.

Don't think so. Their damage is more likely the result of, not the cause. More likely to be u/s because the lack of damping and incorrect shock used v spring lowering spring are giving the bump stop more of a battering than normal.
  13. Ah but Jim, did you get a butchers at what was in the boot? (mind you 6 years has gone by since I did) .
  14. Been watching it all evolve since you chaps came back. Quality trip, no doubt about that. And pleased to see you had a great time. One Q though, no photos at Karmann? Museum was OK in the past but factory was a no-no.
  15. Sure it wasn't the only wires that were disconnected (by accident). Pulling that fob socket plug apart shouldn't have set the alarm off as it's just a 3 or 4 wire, straight wire extension and no circuit is broken or activated. Check you haven't got one of the siren wires (3 off) dropped off while in there disturbing things.
  16. Yes, have seen a 16v on 4 carbs. GTinters about 4 years ago. Shifted very well in the sprints. Noisey are they were on the front of the engine and I seem to remember they weren't "filtered", just straight short throats.

My archives collection...... Not found in one particular place. Which gearboxes are you looking for? I may have them.
  18. Yeah, old "better" type Haynes manual.
  19. Too hard a day today, never thought that way.... Yeah, # 5 is the baby if that's what the title means.... G62 Cheers Chris EDIT: part number is 049 919 501

Phil, I think this is what you are looking for???? Chris ..
  21. Hi, Sender 93 doesn't seem to check out on a 9A. What's your source for the reference? .
  22. Gavin, Out of print Passat 1988 - 1991 Haynes Book No. 1647 has the 9A in it. It was replaced by the current Passat book 1988 - 1994? Best source is EBAY these days. Purple cover. Covers the pre face lift Corrado for other things quite well so is worth buying for a few quid. Chris ------- aposegil: It covers 9A torque settings on the engine. If that is all you need, it's two pages to scan?? .

    Zebedee!

Shocks that is.... sounds like the current shocks are past their sell by date. Plus the stroke available for the compression has been shortened by 40mm so the full reaction of the VW shocks may not be acheived in this extreme case. Your shocks need to match the 40mm drop so VW standard ain't the way to go even when new. ie. damping needs to be stronger (stiffer). ..
  24. Thats the VAT (variable) not the fuel duty (fixed by good old Gordon) though. What's putting this up is the base fuel cost ("product" in the picture) and the VAT calculated on this adds a little to the increase, so I cannot see any protest working as it's not really a goverment issue. Bad thing though is that this is most likely here to stay for quite some time into next year and beyond due to the Chinese & India demands which are not being seasonally driven. .
  25. I think that isn't permissible even though it's outside the drivers MoT view area where it has to be even less in size.
