  1. When I needed somewhere local I went into my VW dealer (who we used to place a lot of business through for parts) and asked where they used if they had an interior in need of repair. They gave me the name of a very old school, 100+ years in the trade, company round the corner. Might be worth asking a few dealerships round your way.
  2. But not strange if you think lowered early cars would probably have replaced with a 50mm to help with clearance and much lowered later cars will probably have needed to keep replacing cracked ones (when prices made it more possible).
  3. Auto Glym High Definition wax Brand new in box £28 posted Can I take this please. Any discount for not needing to post?
  4. I'm with get it looked at first then think about your options. If it's bottom end then there may be no need in disturbing the head. Still gutted for you.
  5. But Lidl haven't had any for ages. We have looked to replace the one Kip used on his 8v last year for ages but there's been none (or other people have bought them before we get there :( )
  6. LOL. Goldie is in the forces, Navy, so I guess he'll just stow them in a nook or cranny somewhere... Do you not have to declare imports for VAT though Michael??
  7. It's got some colour in the wheel arch. Not a total solid block which you will see if you clean right up to the strut top. The arches have a rubbery covering (as does the underneath) which then got a reasonable amount of paint but not to the nooks and crannys... The fronts have the plastic liner that gives even more protection but under those it still has the rubbery covering. Pics of Kips nugget & my daily rear aches pre and post cleaning.
  8. Can I check on one point? You say your driveways are side by side and there is no fence etc between them so when they kick the ball it ends up on your side / against your car? If that is the case, instead of standing guard and keeping the ball each time it comes on your side or trying to protect your car with covers I recon you need to create some sort of spikey covering for the car. Stick load of sharp nails through thin board then cover the other side with something soft to lean up against the car. Maybe make some attachements to hold it in place etc then every time their ball comes in contact it will get burst. No problem about dangerous stuff being out as it is on your property so no one should be there uninvited anyway. (we planted a pyracantha [very spikey plant] in front of the garage wall that neighbours children used as a goal when we moved here but I guess you don't have a planting line available or time to allow plants to grow. Some big ones in tubs around the car might work too though!
  9. Hmmmmm, thanks. I don't want the hassle of a 'new' sunroof motor but I guess that sounds like what it is. I liked my original sunroofless Storm. That never had a problem with it! LOL
  10. At least parts are starting to go back on again... and Mr K has even smiled a few times today! Still having sleepless night thinking about bleeding up the whole brake system though and as for Harewood?? Hmmmmm! ---------- Post added at 1:36 PM ---------- Previous post was at 1:28 PM ---------- Part number from MY bag of bits (Mr K was short of one so pinched one of mine) 1H0 201 449 and you need 7 though can only see 6. 4 along the lower body, 2 up by the fuel filter and 1 hidden when the fuel tank is on. Do you need the heat shield part number and price? The price is an 'ouch' one!
  11. For the last month or so my 8v sunroof has been a bit flaky. I've swapped the switch/light unit itself with Kips and its definietly not that at fault. When it does work it tilts & slides beautifully, no sluggishness or juddering etc but when it wont work it wont work!!! The switch unit clicks (and as said has been swapped for one that is 100% so it is not that) and I think I can hear the sunroof motor itself clicking but nothing happens 25% of the time. I've twice had to wind it shut by allen key and once sat in the car for 5 minutues willing it to work and eventually it did. Any ideas on why it might be OK 75% of the time then throw a wobbly 25%?
  12. that was yesterday to tomorrow is now today... Come on come on, tell us (though I guess you are driving it home). Can't wait to hear and great to see you back on here, in the club and with a Corrado. I know no-one ever has enough time but we must meet up sometime. x
  13. For anyone getting worried and thinking of giving their C a good clean to check this area.....That box section at the rear of the sills should have tiny drain holes where the seam is not fully joined. I guess they allow water that enters from the front arch area to either drain out or provides some air circulation. If the holes get blocked on the inside by gritty road water entering or a general build up of road crud on the outside the rear arch sill area will sit in dampness and rot. To check out the presence of a problem internally remove the rear cards and stick a camera down the opening that is just about accessible if your arms bend in wierd ways! Taking pics with the flash on will show you the metalwork condition from the inside. (have lots of hankies near by, you may want to cry!). Taking pics with the flash off will show if your drain holes are clear as you will get a few tiny bright spots in an otherwise black picture..
  14. I am 49 on Monday and had my first a Mystic Storm in 1997. Had 2 Mystic Storms in 2007/8 but that was only while I was selling the original one.
  15. LOL. no prob. Just thought it mildly amusing how many very similar names there are on here and how confusing things can get.
  16. All these similar names are very confusing... Paul selling the HT leads is KipVW... not KipVR lol... and someone earlier asked about Swampy (with an A) and a reply came back about him starting a new job but that is Swompy (with an O).
  17. Hi Dave, Me again. A Pillars £15 collected from Tatton - yes please. Any news on the tank straps? And another question... I need 1 drivers side Lupo wiper (I bought Lupo wipers off someone on here a while back but they are a proper pair and the passenger side fouls the bonnet. But after having a respray I would like to fit a drivers on that side too). So, any chance of selling just one?? and can you confirm the part number??
  18. Cheers Eric for your company last night. I did indeed end up coming first as the score sheets were made available and on collecting mine I was a little confused by how I could only have dropped 5 points but been 25 off the max. Organisers were horrified by their mistake and spoke to the campervan owner and he was fine about it all. Truly a summer day but the heat caused me a bit of a problem. Having left the bonnet up all day the stay was looking a bit weird when I went to pack up. It had started bending with the weight of the bonnet. I had to ask some passing guys to hold my bonnet up while I bent it back again! So, that's another job to do. Take it off and make sure it ie the right shape!!!
  19. With the change of date and lack of summer so far I get the impression no-one has been up for much camping. I'm braving it for Saturday night at BVF (intend to get there Sat early afternoon) and wonder if I'll know anyone!!! Or in other words.. plenty of space on the ccbg club stand if the sun does shine like it is forecaste to :)
  20. ha ha.. now thats a good mix, dating site AND cycling (or running or general exercise!!)
  21. I'm wondering if I should read anything more into that statement than 'just' meaning he is a good climber / lone rider?? Virenque - In 1998 he was the central figure in a widespread doping scandal.
  22. they can be linked to topics relating to other sites you have recently viewed.. some sort of black magic cookie stuff going on that blows my mind. interesting thread to see what sort of adverts some people might admit to displaying for them. (I seem to get lots of running clothing or hotel search sites :) ) currently bike insurance .... from having followed Tour d F live updates today??
  23. Those pics could so be taken in our garage ;) Having cleaned 100k+ miles of road grime off the underneath of my orignal Storm while lying on the drive in the pool of resultant muck I leant that to get it steam cleaned first was a good idea. Second time around I went to a tools hire place that had a steam clean jet wash to get 90% off it off first. It was almost a pleasure to do after. Looking good, have fun with checking round the posts etc. I have that gem of a job to do yet.
