Title change... Coilovers how much do the settle?
Jim Bowen replied to vwdeviant's topic in Drivetrain
i see that a car will settle down after your taken it off the jack etc and had a quick spin, but i don't see how or why it should drop anymore after that? -
i thought this was just the pump working and was normal

you should be able to reuse most of the metal parts as they don't seem to wear, i guess mine had been on car since new and they looked just like the new stuff still. anything from no. 13 down will be replaced by the coilover unit. The rest is just spacers and nuts -

you should only need the rubber bits. I bought everything on the diagram, i renewed all the washers and spacers anyway but really was no point. -

My runaround i got in December, not exactly great but for £150 i can't moan -
i still have the same dodgy feeling as it stands now, and i've raised it quite a bit, the wishbones are deffo not inverted now, they point downwards, but i still have bumpsteer etc
-
thats why i got KW1's as i was buying -40mm springs and they were lowering the front by 90mm. causes the wishbones to be inverted like you say.
-
find my thread i made recentely, i had this problem and it appeared that something just needed cleaning and greasing, my locks have been fine since

car looks great in the pic above. Don't like the look of the carbon effect stuff though :pukeright:

CF F1 Fantasy League 09 -Final results...who won, who lost?
Jim Bowen replied to The_Dude's topic in General Car Chat
No, as ITV are not doing the coverage anymore. There is no prize on the website, but I can probably get hold of a small plastic trophy for the victor. Besides, kudos from your fellow peers should be enough, or do you want a washing machine, drill set and cuddly toy?. of course  silly me i wouldn't mind one of those mini screwdrivers sets you get in the xmas crackers -

what are the prizes? and i take it this isn't the ITV one that we did last year? -
you could probably make it work with a washer if you cut a slot in the washer, not sure how well it would say put though

thats cheap for a corrado part :norty:

it should fit fine, i have mk4 calipers on mine and had the cables renewed, and i've taken them off again when the axle came off. i could measure all the bits on mine but probably not going to be able to do it for a day or two. So the nipple on end of cable is smaller in diameter than the width of the gap on the caliper lever?

in a race.... Corrado owner would approach the car, the fob wouldn't unlock it, he'd try the key and something would break inside the door. After 2hrs and a broken door card he would be sitting in his saggy seat with worn bolsters and ready to start the car. He'd put the key in the ignition, go to turn it and that would either break or the car wouldn't start, another 1hr later and the car is started. Corrado driver wouldn't have any choice about opening the windows, sunroof or adjusting the hot air blowers as all that would be broken. When finally ready to set off i don't know what else would happen, hopefully the corrado would win and not run out of petrol, drop all its coolant or develop a misfire. Oh and the corrado wouldn't be able to race at night

Which coilovers do you use on your really bumpy local roads?
Jim Bowen replied to Leonard's topic in Drivetrain
:nono: :nono: :nono: :nono: :nono: LOL Dont worry mate I am sure it wont come to that. Went to see Vince at Stealth last week and booked the car in for June so I cant sell until after that anyway  JUNE!!! is he busy until then? -
i bought one last year from the dealers, they didn't mention they were running low (which they have done with other things) There must be an alternative option....maybe

i always try to tell myself this is how it would feel if i had a ferrari on the backroads  Or i look at the "normal" people bouncing along in citroens and peugeots and feel glad thats not me i don't think you can have the best of both worlds, you have to comprise a bit of comfort if you want a lower/stiffer ride :( -

I've found the lowering kits i've had and the KW1's i've got now both give a hard ride, and it isn't very nice on bumpy roads. I don't find it bottoms out or bangs over the bumps, they do get asborbed but doesn't feel like its doing the suspension much good. I end up driving -
i think now that i've got the ipod nano i should just be able to plug directly into itunes and then into my headunit.

:brickwall:

i've ended up buying another ipod, i think the shuffle i bought is the only one that doesn't have the correct connection for the headunit. So i've had to buy a nano too, typical that is, i try to do something on the cheap and end up spending a fortune. Its all because of the protection itunes put on the files. I may buy all my music from amazon now
