  1. Now corrado is back on the road. I find the gear change not as nice as it used to be. Hoping it just needs a bit of adjusting. Fitted new clutch along with the bearing, the bit the bearing slides on along with new fork etc. Also fitted new slave cylinder, had the master rebuilt and a quick shift linkage from Dave on here. Just feels a bit notchy and not too easy to get in gear. Sometimes reverse won't go in. Which end do i adjust? I played around with the quick shift as the instructions that came with it said. Its not terrible. Just not as smooth to change gear as i remember.

    Water pipe

Heater matrix hoses are the wrong way round and looks to me like some kind of repair.

I bought the Techtonics 2.5" downpipe during black friday last year, am seriously thinking of buying the whole system this year and selling my magnex. Then i think i may as well replace the original 224,000miles catalytic convertor for a sports cat. Would i have to buy one in 2.5"? I assumed the magnex is 2.25"
  4. Have you ever watched that Eric Bana Film, The beast? Worth a watch, you won't sell after that.
  5. Is it inpro that make aftermarket ones? If they can have the shape of the lense, which they must do. Then surely they could make them with a more standard look. I bought some inpro headlights and the lense is the same but totally clear with none of the grooves in it.
  6. I heard of someone else having a similar problem and they hadn't fitted the oil jets to the bottom end.
  7. Am sure i remember someone fitting audi or bmw lenses that looked quite normal.
  8. I've seen some people tie little bags of sand along the sides of them.
  9. See if things like suspension bushes etc show any signs of being replaced etc. Suspension parts can quickly add up. People tend to replace alot of things at once if nothing has been done. Cooling system can be prone to getting old and leaking. Ask if clutch and/or timing chains have ever been done. That's the main thing engine wise. The rest is usually sensors or electric parts like maf amd isv or coilpack etc. Check the abs light comes on and goes off again. That can be an mot failure. Rust around the windscreen and bottom corners of wheel arches and fuel filler seem to be the common places. Am sure there is a buyers guide on here somewhere. I use HIC for insurance. Phone them up and they know what a corrado is and seem to give me the best quotes.
  10. I fitted two lots of ina lifters now. I've also kept all my old lifters. Factory and used ina ones. So will dig them out and get pics etc if it helps work anything out. I remember they ina ones are slightly different looking on the underside.
  11. I'll see what i can find on mine. Got a photo of them somewhere. Am sure it would be quite simple to make a loom.
  12. Are the lifters still fitted? Just wondering if there are any signs of something catching or digging in when the cam snapped. Not sure if it would make any difference but did you have spark plugs in?
  13. I've never been able to undo said drain plug in 9yrs, i just have to undo the whole plastic housing and clean up the oil.
  14. Yeah thats the new style, corrado is just the filter with a hole each end, no stick.
  15. I presoaked mine, done cams 2 or 3 times, i doubt that could cause it to jam up enough to snap a cam. Were you holding the cams down in place while tightening them or almost using the caps as leverage to tighten them. As Kev says i would of expected a thread to strip first or it being incredibly hard to tighten the nuts. Was top chain in place and sprockets on the cams? I can't think of reasons what may have happened, just trying to think it out in my head. I feel gutted for you. How come you were removing the schimmels?
  16. When I've done mine in the past i remember having to push the cams down by hand to get the caps on. Meaning it was pushing down on some of the valves. I had to have a mate hold the cam down while i got the cap and nuts on.
  17. Yeah they are aircon switches
  18. I always used mann stuff. They have a good amount of filtration material. Was a good youtube video about oil filters and the guy dismantles a mann filter compared to some others.
  19. The ones i have are the same as the bottom one, i would agree the others are golf ones.
  20. Might even be worth speaking to http://www.johnaustin.co.uk/index.php/about-us (taken from sticker on rear window) See what they know about the car.
  21. Don't really know what you mean by the seat runners not being body coloured. Do you mean the bits in the bodyshell or the bottom of the seat? Slam panel vin in primer is normal, mine is like that. There's a nice looking storm grey vr6 on ebay at the moment, also a few other nice exmaples i've seen.
  22. Some corrado ABS systems seem to talk to vagcom and some don't. Mine wouldn't work, i start to wonder if there is a wire that needs connecting up that maybe got missed in the factory, as when i fitted the teves20 abs system there was a single wire that i had to connect up for diagnostics to work.
  23. Sgs engineering do a decent one. Most seem to be the same thing with different branding. When i bought mine it came with the longest guarantee. Also bought other jacks and Jack stands, cross beams etc from there.
