  1. Thinking about starting or attempting to start the Corrado tomorrow. Engine is new. Fuel tank drained and new fuel lines. From what I've read or got from other people i was planning to do: Disconnect the two sensor wires at front if engine by the front mount. Black and white plugs. And then turn engine over on starter motor to build oil pressure. Some places say to remove spark plugs while doing that? Then connect everything up. Let fuel pump prime and then start it (hopefully) Then do i let it idle at all? Or do i hold the revs at 2000rpm for up to twenty minutes? Bit unsure really. But want to be sure i get it right.

    Wanted Head Lining

I bought the material and glue from AS trim and did it myself, cost about £50ish. I'd never trimmed anything before, just watched a couple of youtube videos and went for it. The roll of head lining i bought was enough to do about 3-4 head linings i reckon, so worth measuring first.
  3. Quite hard to pull out the rail and then pull out injectors as well, i didn't damage anything doing mine though. Think i used some WD40 onto the seals first. Almost seemed too easy to push back in, i am hoping they are sealed ok  Not sure if mr injectors o-rings were slightly smaller O.D or if when i cleaned up the holes on fuel rail and inlet i over did it and made them slightly larger. Got the clips fitted last night and everything back together. Wasn't too bad a job.

    Wanted Head Lining

    Really easy to retrim them
  5. Bummer. Just found these. They are the clips for the fuel injectors. Seems i forgot to fit them. So going to have to remove a few things. Oh well. Should be glad i noticed them now i guess.
  6. Still not found a black light nor attempted to colour one myself, but ordered some 2007 audi A4 cabriolet sun visors, only really seen the photo of them on ebay so not sure how they will fit but look similar to the corrado ones. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/AUDI-A4-B7-Convertible-Drivers-Sun-Visor-Mirror-Loom-in-Black-8H0-857-552-C-/321723866427?fits=Car+Make%3AAudi%7CModel%3AA4&hash=item4ae83c9d3b
  7. I work for a company that makes timber framed houses (posh ones), i work in the office designing/detailing them, CAD work etc
  8. I did the door membranes using stuff from work, vapour barrier and some black sticky stuff. Just looking for some black sun visors, might try and colour the originals as a temp thing.
  9. Nice one Rob, I will be following this. Rad support looks great.
  10. Been fitting the interior this weekend. Rear seats in, Black headlining as well (hard to photo in a dark garage with black seats and roof Rest of dash in (for some reason my ashtray is blacker than the rest of dash (looking for a new one)
  11. Helps with the average mileage
  12. I still haven't tried starting it, engine rebuild pics were taken about a year ago now
  13. Going to one fast clowns car!!
  14. Recently had a new engine built, Stealth racing did the bottom end from a new block/pistons, i bought a head from vege and i did the rest. Lots of pics warning. But you did ask! Skipped a few pictures.... Fitted
  15. Yeah, i noticed this when buying a fuel filter, was a made in china jobby. I use Mann oil filters. Its not that everything made in china is crap, china can make stuff well, its the quality control that lets them down, i would hope if supplying a large company like VW with parts then VW must insist or employ their own quality control. They make the iphone and not one really complains about that saying made in china on it.
  16. I think a 50% sale on all the toolchests ended yesterday
  17. Seeing as i was sorting out rust and bodywork i decided to try and sort out this dent, (even if i only did a temp fix until a proper bodyshop can sort it out) Had this dent since i bought the car, so 9yrs now. So i've been filling it and sanding back, really hard to get the shape right, left it like this yesterday, will be back sanding again tonight Both front wings have been off and i've taken the rust off them, sealed them on the inside, going to wax the inside face as well. Painted the inside of arch that got welded (i've found the wax reacts with the rubberised rust paint, so have to put some body colour on and then the wax. Also had to take rubstrips off this side as door had some rust up the edge (still sorting that out) Bought some coolant and water (got that filled up at the weekend)
  18. Thanks for the comments. Will be glad when its over, i've been on it every weekend for at least a year now. Yeah, headlining was the foam backed stuff from AS trim, went on really easy, nothing soaked through, the glue it came with wasn't very liquid, was a bit like silly string.
  19. Super Clean. Am glad examples like this are around.
  20. Is the rack moving? There is a bush between it and the bracket that holds it to the subframe.
  21. Recovered mine recently. Not done anything like that before and came out really well. Pics in my members gallery thread somewhere. Got a kit from a place called AS trim. By mistake i ended up with enough black headlining to do about 4 corrado roofs.
  22. Top mounts can cause steering problems. My steering started to lock while going round a corner and it was the top mount bearing problem. See how it feels with both front wheels off the ground.
  23. Vince mentioned this with my block, said its not as important as i had a new VW block and pistons instead of getting original block rebored. But i still think i'll do some running in, or at least taking it easy for a while.
  24. I didn't know this about the mineral oil, i need to run in my new engine and almost filled it up with semi synthetic oil, Should i go and buy some mineral? Any particular brand etc?
  25. yeah they are from Techtonics, got them shipped when i ordered the exhaust. I've looked closely and they are Bremi branded.
