Just rang these people, at first they said they don't do anything with ABS, which confused me, he said someone had rung about it recently. After i explained it he said they could do it and would be £80-100. Plus i have to post it to them. So expecting it to be at least £100. New one from VW is £176.40 Am not sure which to go with

I will take them off, didn't really think it could be that, but would make sense. I seem to have quite a few bits of rust appearing on or around the tailgate. (i treated the inside of it a couple of years back) But also the box section bit where badges clip to seems to be developing little spots of rust all over.

Yes, it does look different to your first photo, i also checked on vagcat and it does show two bits like i have. Seems a bit odd though. -
yeah, just below it

Yeah, i poked the screwdriver through it, The seam has really swollen up, i will have to cut it out and get it welded. (my mate will do the welding for free). I might even have a go with the welder as his previous repairs weren't great and will need redoing at some point.

I just rang the dealers, my cylinder has the ball on the end where it meets the pedal. I think its part no: 358721388, and VW has them in stock, but £147+vat. Going to look into TPS parts, i've never used them before.

Got the rear stripped out, mainly looking for rust (which i found) Noticed the rust on top of shock, which was odd because they are quite new and other side was fine, then once carpet was out i saw the rust on the seam there. And then this bit which i've noticed in the past, Its looking from inside the car towards the boot, carpet was wet as well, so not sure where that water is coming from.

Think i've got it right now, a bit of a strange arrangement. I guess its like this so it can deform in an accident maybe? -
I have a 1995 VR, looking at replacing my master cylinder, (mainly because its not been done before) There was another thread where someone posted a link to a place that will re manufacture the original one. Or is the one i need still available from VW or elsewhere? My problem is i've left it a bit late and ideally want one before xmas so i can carry on working on the car.

I nearly bought the first one I looked at. Dad talked me out of it. I quite often think back and am glad I didn't buy it.

Is it true the gearbox plugs are magnetic? Can it not also provide an early sign something is wrong? I wouldn't of known my tensioner was so buggered unless i took the timing covers off or removed the oil pump.

I'm hoping to drive it through a field and with any luck i will pick up some rare lost artefacts, like jesus' letter opener or adams (from adam and eve)cock ring.

Got the extra bits from VW, Just re-read your last comment which i think explains what i'm confused about. Its the order of the washer and the shouldered collar bit. Am not sure if i have polo bits or corrado fixed column bits  -
I know, i did find all the bits in the strainer, including bits of the chain guide which were quite large lumps of plastic. I don't mind having a magnetic sump plug, i will see what it picks up and report back.
-
I have had quite a few bits of metal in mine from the upper chain tensioner, looked like rivets. Also, don't you get a little bit from a new engine wearing in?

Local to Essex would be best. Am going to have it refurbed.

Wow. That explains it I thought for years my door had dropped. It Took all the paint off.
-
I would say no. Can imagine it to be very hard. I found the bushes in the middle of bar hard enough to swap with it off the car

What about the aerial seal? You can remove a bit of trim and pull the roof lining down at the back. See if it's wet.

Lots of non sunroof models in that last pic.

There's only one, its shared and does front and back.

They should be: N90272401
-
They go underneath the door, like the bottom edge of the actual door, should be some metal lugs that the black plastic bits push over (i've just bought the clips new from VW as taken mine off)
