Can anyone tell what gasket I have from the pics a few pages back?
-
That did crop up on my googling. Although didn't see that downpipe before. Is it much work to port the manifolds?
-
Nah I didn't get round to buying the parts. I ended up cleaning everything up. Painting the case and putting it back together. Am sure when I googled it you can buy the brushes and solenoid plus a new armature if needed. Although all mine looked fine after about 200k. All that needed doing was the copper bush in the gearbox end. Solenoid is hard to remove without buggering the screws. I had to drill mine out on both spare motors. Think I found a guide on the us vortex forum.

Mine looked just like that ebay one. In fact thats the one i looked at and got me questioning what mine is. Is high compression better?
-
I'm not sure really, think mine was metal with a rubbery coating
-
Looks brilliant in that photo :)

Just worrying about the head gasket i've fitted now. While checking out ebay i notice Victor Reinz head gasket being sold as different compression to standard. I've no idea what sort mine is, i bought it off someone on here a couple of years ago now, i assumed it was a standard VR6 replacement.

I want to know where i've seen it before (the colour)
-
Am still curious to know the benefits of this as well. Ran without one for years. Put one in and no difference really.

Have been having a search and that one does keep popping up, Someone on here mentioned their one fitted straight on so have been considering it. About £660 is the cheapest i can find it. Would sway me if i knew it would give some extra bhp 5-10 would be enough.

Will sound like an old metro

I've had it on my Audi, the water was getting in where the mirror meets the door, it can then track down the door and onto the floor. I just used some household foam sealing tape which worked.
-
There is a rubber grommit on throttle cable where it passes through the bulkhead. Or could look into wing mirrors, see if its running down the inside of door card and then soaking into the carpet. Middle of floor will be the lowest point. Or have you got a hole in the floor

is your raceland fitted?

I thought about getting that plastic conduit stuff for the wiring. Noticed my audi has it.

Debating whether to bother with a 6 branch exhaust manifold or stick with standard manifolds. Do they make any power difference at all?
-
It breathes into the oil catch can rather than chucking oil into the throttle body inlet, i think you need to block off the thin pipe that come from the wing/carbon cannister area as well.
-
Its the pcv, Positive Crankcase Ventilation, they do seem to get rather oily inside, my previous two engines both chucked quite a bit of oil down there so this time i'm replacing it with an oil catch can.

Are you driving it over the winter? Looks great. I'm not normally a fan of the colour but am liking it.

Is there one called a porter manual?
-
Excellent. Can't wait to see it progress.
-
Wow. Some good work gone on there. Lovely.

I have thought about that, but the ends that mate to the downpipe have studs in them, not sure how they come out, and then still leaves me worrying about the downpipe. Would also hope a 6 branch might help up the power a little as my new engine is a 2.8.
-
Nah, my original manifolds are a bit corroded on the mating faces, i've been trying to get them smooth and flat again but losing hope, my downpipe has done 220,000miles so am sure that won't last forever, thought i may as well look into a 6 branch while engine is out etc.

What about Dubpower, just found them selling one. Anyone have one of them?
