  1. Yep, I agree, I also only ever use genuine parts from the dealer for anything mechanical. In my opinion, ECP are only good for service items like oil and filters.. and even then they screw up! At least with the $tealers you know the part will fit, and you won't have to worry about it.
  2. Yeah, also received an incorrect air filter when I did a web order for a Bosch part... I called them up and was told it was of similar quality to the Bosch one. That's besides the point! I ordered 'x' and they sent me 'y', and still charged me full price. The least they could do is call me and tell me the original product is not in stock... I was told to go to my local branch to get it exchanged. I dont have time to go to, which was why I ordered online in the first place!
  3. Yep, my manual is the same, it's 4.2 which is disabled, 'window radio control activation'
  4. Thanks for the manual, I think we're getting somewhere now! :D I've had a look at the pdf, and on page 27 you'll see the table PAGE 5, line 8 WINDOW OUTPUT FUNCTION ACTIVATION, which is disabled by default. This is what the user manual must be referring to. So I assume it's a matter of getting into the programming mode and navigating to the 5th table, 8th line and then activating it. Can you get into the programming mode? Page 25 of the pdf shows the steps. I might try and give it a go tomorrow. Thanks! ---------- Post added at 10:44 PM ---------- Previous post was at 10:43 PM ---------- Oh, and I have a feeling Andy might have spliced into my old conlog wiring too... :?
  5. Aren't they the same as the mk2 golf stalks? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/250915502641
  6. Did you get the fitting instructions online? I've been looking around for a copy, without success.. :) Page 19 of the user manual, 4.2 says 'window radio control activation' is disabled by default. It also refers to something on page 5 line 8, suggesting you can activate it somehow.. But I can't find anything useful on page 5 line 8 :( I might contact an alarm fitter near me and see if they can help
  7. I've got that alarm, fitted by Andy @ Trim Wizard. I've read the manual and it says you need an extra module to auto close the windows... which is a shame, as the old VW Conlog alarm I had did it! :?
  8. I thought this was a joke, but apparently not. An electric DeLorean: http://m.inhabitat.com/all-electric-delorean-car-to-hit-the-streets-in-2013/ http://delorean.com/2011/10/electric-delorean

  10. Yep, that whole blower needs to come out, along with the pipework in the middle of the pic. You'll need another blower box to replace it, one from a non -aircon car
  11. Oh right, didn't realise you could just call them up :) I've just ordered all the bits from vwheritage. Thanks guys
  12. Hi all, I tried to register on the http://www.vw-classicparts.de/ website last week, but the registration form asked for stuff like a VAT number, company number, customer ID.... So I entered '-' in these fields, as I'm not a company, just an individual :) Anyway, I've not heard back from them - do they only allow new registrations for companies/garages? How have any of you guys managed to order parts from them? Cheers!

  15. I need to replace the adjustable collars on my coilovers. The problem is, the new collars wont go on unless the cap nut is removed from the strut first. (It's the thing in the picture, on the right with the 2 holes) How the hell do I remove this cap nut? Is there some specialist tool which goes into the holes? Or can it be removed with some mole grips? I dont really want to do that, as it would probably ruin the cap nut.. Any ideas? :?
  16. Center caps are seperate, another £100  http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/CORRADO-GOLF-MK2-BBS-WHEEL-CAP-191601149K-GENUINE-NEW-/350466246977?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item51996a8941
  17. tony_ack: Have you tried adding a couple of named drivers? And a partner, if you have one. I was playing around with one of those comparison websites the other day, and adding my 2 sisters (They are 40 &41 years old, clean licenses) to the policy reduced it by about 20%... even though they'd never drive the bloody car. Adding a spouse knocked another 10% off
  18. Behind the door card, it goes around the door handle EDIT: actually, looking at it again, maybe not.. i think the door handle foam isn't quite as square :?
  19. Yep, what a joke... I was rear ended about 3 weeks ago, in my daily (a G60). I called my insurers the next day to get the ball rolling, and start a claim on the woman who rear ended me. Then about an hour later, the woman calls me up and offers to pay me £2k cash to cover the repair costs and not go through the insurance. I took her up on her offer, and called my insurers to stop any claim going through. But now my insurers tell me that because there's been an accident, I have to declare it. Even though it was NOT my fault and the insurers didnt pay out a penny!! My insurance on a 2nd car has now doubled to around £1k!!!! And thats with 14 years no claims!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It's no surprise people claim for whiplash etc. when something like this happens. Theiving scumbags
  20. Very easy to fit, even I can do it
