  1. Wow, spooky, guess what I changed today... The reader coil  I had the classic symptoms of starting the car, then it dying after a second or so. I first thought it was the keys that were the problem, because my main key worked 95% of the time and the spare worked about 10%... Got the keys recoded last week, and the car was actually worse! The main key worked about 50% of the time.. Ordered a new reader coil, fitted it today, both keys work perfectly! Hallelujah Only problem with the replacement coil is the connector isnt quite the same as the original one. you'll need to sand/file/saw off a plastic ridge thats on the side of the connector (it's there to prevent you putting the connector in the wrong way round, but it actually stops you from fiting the damn thing too!) Costs about £33, or £30 if you're nice to mr $tealer.
  2. ^^^ Ditto ^^^ I've had T1-R's for a few weeks on my speedlines, and they feel fine to me. But then again I dont go throwing the car around corners to see how grippy they are  Dont feel any different to the Eagle F1's on my solitudes tbh.
  3. Good idea, I'll try that cheers :)
  4. Thanks for all the help :) Just out of interest, does the nut unscrew the 'wrong' way, as Furki suggests? The tracking on my car was done 5 weeks ago, so I'm sure they adjusted the toe then. Seems unlikely that the nut would seize up in 5 weeks!
  5. I took the car to get the tracking checked out, as it's been about 5 weeks since I've had my suspension fitted. The camber was fine, but the tester said the toe was "way out" on the front wheels. He tried to sort out the toe, but couldnt do it. He told me the tracking rod bolts were seized or something What tracking rods is he on about? The tracking arm? Which bolts in the diagram are adjusted to sort the toe? More importantly, how do I sort out the seized bolt? Penetrating grease or something?
  6. You mean the pins? I changed them as well as everything else
  7. I dread to think how much I've spent in the last year... Easily £5000  :silly: :help: - thats not including insurance, petrol, initial purchase cost etc.
  8. Yeah Sherry red is a beautiful colour
  9. Took mine to the $tealers to get the key's recoded.. Was there at 8:45. Went back there at half past five and it still wasnt ready! It's a 5 minute job ffs!! :x When it was finally ready, the 'sales assistant' (or whatever they call em) drove it out from round the back. Looked really good, funny how you dont realise just how sexy the Corrado is until someone else drives it & you're outside watching 8) :)
  10. *Bumpage* I'm phoning around for insurance today, and managing to get agreed value seems a nightmare.... I'm valuing my car at £9k - is this too much, considering it's now a minter?! I'm pretty certain that I wont find another totally unmarked Corrado for £9k Brentacre seemed like they thought I was taking the piss, saying the car's overvalued and that agreed value policies are useless anyway  HIC agreed value policy sounded good, but they want £1040  Adrian Flux want £743, agreed value, and Chris Knott (my current insurers) refused to budge below £749. No doubt that the valuers (Lancaster's I believe) will try and tell me its worth £6k... :x
  11. Yeah the parts came to £620, that's with a 10% VW discount  The labour cost under £500: Fitting of - Timing chains & tensioners - Clutch - Flywheel - New suspension - New front brake discs & pads - New thermostat (which they sourced, as the original one fell apart!) - 4 wheel alignment I was expecting the labour to be circa £1k, so I was chuffed it was under £500  My mechanic knows this garage owner, and managed to get an amazingly low rate for me! I was originally gonna take it to Stealth, but the clutch was dead and there was no way it would make a 90 mile journey...
  12. The badge on the back of the VW Transporter vans uses the same font  I cant remember if it's red though
  13. I was tempted to start a thread titled 'Chav Spotting! Was it you?' so we could all post pics of chavved up motors :D I see a couple every day near where I work
  14. Hmm.. My etka says the grease is p/n: G000 450 02 might be worth using this when I take mine apart, instead of that white lithium spray
  15. I put loads of grease in mine about 6 months ago, but its only just started misbehaving So, replacing all of the above should fix any wear & tear problems for a 10 year old sunroof? I guess I'll have to shell out yet more cash to the $tealers.
  16. I'd be interested in a couple too if that's ok :) No rush though.
  17. Maybe there's a mouse under your pedal  :)
  18. Thanks, my real name is George by the way   Yeah, I have to say the solitudes have grown on me. I love the speedlines, but it does feel a bit odd having the 'wrong' OE wheels fitted
  19. Mines been fine for the year I've had it - until last week. Now it only slides if you repeatedly press the button. Is this a sign the mechs are on their last legs? :(
  20. Fitted my set of speedlines today. I wasn't too keen on the solitudes when the car was at the factory ride-height, but I kinda liked 'em once I had it dropped :? :) I'll get em refurbed soonish and maybe fit them for special events.
  21. Mine started doing that last week!! Damn annoying in this hot weather I greased it up 6 months ago, and again last weekend but it still doesnt work properly :(
