  1. Phew, good job I got the VAG stuff then :D Was thinking of getting the clutch from GSF initially, but for peace of mind I went with the proper VAG kit. Was only about £20 more I think.. And I managed to get a 10% discount at the stealers
  2. All the prices are excluding VAT though. The flywheel came complete with the ring gear attached. It's brand new (not a reconditioned one) I was supposed to get £30 back when I returned my old flywheel, but because there were no VR6 flywheels anywhere in the UK at the time I ordered it, the $tealer had to order it direct from germany. I was told that because they had to ship it over from germany, I couldnt get any money for returning my old flywheel (sounds kinda odd to me..)
  3. No probs :) Any pics of the finished article?
  4. Hmm.. I get that in 1st gear at low speeds. My engine mounts are fine though I was told by a fomer VW guy that the gearknob rocking back n forth is a common characteristic of the VR6 :? Sounds (and looks) a bit odd, I have to say

  6. I cant believe no-ones mentioned the 2CV or the VW beetle
  7. I found these 2 bits on http://www.telegraph.co.uk: Honest John's Agony column Filed: 19/03/2005 I want to thank you for advising me to sue the driver who ran into my car. I have been awarded the full cost of restoration, rather than having to accept a derisory write-off settlement from his insurer. I am sure there are thousands of people out there who do not know that this is an option. P.B., via e-mail Fantastic news - it proves you can still get what you are entitled to in this country if you don't allow yourself to be bullied or fobbed off ------------------ Filed: 26/03/2005 My 1999T VW Passat 1.9 TDI SE saloon suffered serious damage thanks to a hit-and-run driver. My insurance company intends to write-off the car, because the repair estimate (£3,883) exceeds 75 per cent of its worth. I think it has been significantly undervalued and would very much like it repaired. What can I do? S.P., via e-mail This is a lose-lose situation, unfortunately. Your car has not been undervalued. If you had been able to trace the culprit, you could have sued him personally to put you back in the situation you were in before he damaged your property.
  8. Oh yeah, grille was about £28 from GPC :)
  9. Yeah it the new grille was grainy when I bought it, but the guy sanded it down :) Cant remember how much GPC charged me, I'll find out tonight Liking yours too
  10. Yeah the bodyshop did it when the car was in for the respray. He sanded it down, so it feels smooth like the original I'm assuming the sprayer primed it - he certainly doesnt do jobs by halves!
  11. I bought a replacement grille, but it doesnt have the top 2 slots blocked like the original grille. The guy at GPC had no idea what I was on about. The grille's have the same part number, so I dunno why some have 2 slots blanked and others dont
  12. Wax is too brittle and you cant get the badge out easily without destroying the wax! So far PVA is the best thing I've found
  13. Yes, I've made one (sort of) but haven't painted it or tidied it up. Here's what I did: - Buy a large tub of PVA glue. Apply it in thin layers over the original badge (if you put a load of it at once you get lots of air bubbles) Bostik PVA seems to be better than Copydex; it doesn't shrink as much when you get the finished mould. After a number of thin layers have been applied and the whole lot has dried (might take a few days!) then you can remove the badge. Now the tricky part; the badge. I used fibreglass paste and put it into the PVA mould. Took several attempts before I got one that I was happy with. After a day or so, remove the fibreglass clone and then you can send down the edges + fill in any air bubbles Now to paint it.. Hmm this is where I've stopped  My uncle suggested using a roller to apply the red paint. The sort you use for lino printing When I get around to finishing my copy I'll tell you how I managed it
  14. Mines a VW Logic 9000 or something.
  15. Christ, that is quick! Love the way he passes everyone - makes it look like they're standing still  8)
  16. I bought one a couple of months back. Costs £120, but if you're nice to 'em & get a discount they'll sell it for £108  Cant remember if thats including VAT though
  17. I asked Trimsport at a show once and they said something about £500 for them to make a mould
  18. No, but my bro in law was talking to him one day about something or other. Apparently he's a mechanic. There's always a number of VW's outside his house though His rallye was featured in the Golf mag some years back (Sorry if we're going off topic.. )
  19. Blimey, Sutton road  Practically neighbours
  20. Rick - I'm about 1km away so it could be :) C. Will - What road are you on? I havent seen any silver G60's around here!
  21. Blimey, I live just off Colney Hatch Lane  There's a blue J-reg corrado on that road too, possibly a G60. The owner owns a rallye and a mk1 16v  8)
  22. Thanks Doc :D Would love to see some pics of yours, I remember seeing the for sale ad a few weeks back Those alloys you've got there look the part 8)
  23. Sounds like every Merc. Sprinter van driver I've encountered...
  24. For that money, I bet it'll be a Jap car
