  1. Ah cheers. Would any of these faults show up on VAG-COM? The car has a VW alarm immob, as well as a transponder in the key.
  2. :x I bought the car about 3 months ago, and it was fine until about 6 weeks ago.. I go to start the car up, sometimes it's fine. But lately it's been misbehaving. It will take around 10 tries before it finally starts up properly. The car will fire up, reach about 1000rpm, then cut out. Again and again..... When it finally does manage to start, it runs fine. It doesnt seem to matter whether the engine is hot or cold, or if it's early morning, it will just refuse to start. I did a 1hour journey the other day, then left the car for 10mins, came back and it just wouldnt start........ :brickwall: I took it for it's annual service/MOT yesterday, thinking my mechanic would sort it out. He couldnt even start the car to take it to the MOT station  He was supposed to get it VAG-COM'd, but the guy with the software & cable was the MOT bloke, who he never visited! He changed the cold start valve 'cos he thought that was the problem. I went to pick the car up, and it started 1st time! Even this morning it started up fine. Excellent, or so I thought. This evening it decides to play up again, and I'm getting p!ssed off :2gunfire: :help:
  3. Ah thanks for all that, will come in handy when I get aircon fitted 8)
  4. I'm seriously interested in an off-season install too, summer is practically over anyway  Maybe we could get a deal if several of us are interested I was thinking of just selling my VR6 and just getting one with aircon... But I really dont want to, as the car runs great, and everything works, even the sunroof
  5. Yeah it is absolute hell without aircon - I spent 4 hours driving yesterday in 30+ degree heat :( Well, I say 'driving', it was more like sitting in traffic sweating buckets.. Nick, the place near Hanger Lane is http://www.car-aircon.co.uk These were the guys featured in the sunday times. I havent had the chance to call them, but the website says they do discounts off-season, so not much use if you want it done ASAP. There's also a few listed on here: http://www.air-conditioning-installers.co.uk Perhaps we could get a group buy on air-con installation
  6. No, you're very right I've got some links of AC fitters at home - theres one near hanger lane, north circular. They were recommended in the sunday times some time ago. I'm tempted to give them a call, just to get an idea of the price
  7. Well our government is trying to tax us off the roads... I think 60% of the price of fuel is tax. Then we have to pay road tax, and soon (probably) there will be road tolls everywhere  I mentioned once before, if all the drivers in the UK decided to protest by not buying petrol for a couple of weeks, I bet the government would soon pay attention :x They're too busy listening to the damn 'green' hippies
  8. You might want to read this: http://driving.timesonline.co.uk/article/0,,15149-1181311,00.html  Bloody Labour party

  10. Ah memories... I can actually watch Airwolf & Magnum because my ISP actually does video on demand - Digital TV down the phone line. Shame they dont have Knight Rider, the A-Team and everything else you mentioned :D And I use to think Manimal was pretty good, but everyone else thought it was sh!t
  11. Along with the Magnum Ferrari http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/tv_and_radio/3928919.stm
  12. I work for a company that makes online & mobile phone gambling games. Apparently we have the 1st ever mobile phone casino 8)
  13. I have to say, I was initially dissapointed with the power below 3000rpm, but in hindsight it's often said on here that the VR6 is lazy at low revs. But once I first took it over 4000rpm and that lovely engine roar kicked in I was in heaven  I now find myself taking ages to change gear just to hear the engine growl :luvlove: I've had mine for a couple of months, and when I floor it, I still keep hitting the rev limiter in 1st & 2nd unintentionally  It just seems to hit the limiter way too soon (or maybe its because I'm used to my Golf, which used to scream at high revs to let me know it was time to change gear!)
  14. £1000??? Tell me where! Everywhere I've seen they're around £2500
  15. Yeah I dont mind if this goes off topic  I can't beleive a VAG-COM cable costs like £50+!! And thats on Ebay. I think I read Ross-tech sell the cable for about £99 (or was it dollars..) Anyway, back to the new theme of the thread :)
  16. Mmm I'm glad I put this thread up
  17. Made you look Now then.... Where can I get my hands on an OBD2 cable? Do I have to buy it with the VAG-COM software from Ross-Tech, or can I get it elsewhere?? :confused4: This might sound daft, but is it possible to make the cable yourself?
  18. Is that a Kenwood MP3 player I see?? I've got the same one
  19. Ahem: http://www.lcars.eu.org/autotaser.uk/  :norty:
  20. Might be messy if you kill the engine while the theiving toe rags are doing 100+ mph on a motorway
  21. Yeah I know  It's just that the CD changer came with the car when I bought it, and I cba to rip it out
  22. you need the patch
  23. The headunit & changer are both kenwood. :| I'll contact kenwood to see what they say
