  1. Found this: http://www.wolfbane.com/vreg.htm Handy :D
  2. I bought a chrome Corrado & VR6 badge from GPC last week.
  3. It does :) just with a round connector. I heard something about round connectors being relatively new and square type was old, I dunno if that's true or not. The CD changer looks a good few years older than my headunit
  4. I bought my VR6 with a Kenwood CD changer. Fine, I thought, that will work with the Kenwood mp3 headunit I've got. However... my headunit CD changer connector is round, and the CD changer connector is square :x I've been looking around for some sort of adaptor, but no luck. And Halfords :gag: were about as useful as a hole in the head. Any suggestions?
  5. Right.. I just found this on the Elephant webby: 'If you do not wish to use our Approved Repairers, we cannot provide you with a replacement car. You will need to get two estimates from separate repairers and send them to us ' So, looks like the woman I spoke to was lying...
  6. It's on the pink receipt, previous page  Mine's chrome, I dunno if yours is too, but it's probably the same :D Part no: 357 853 601 Mine is 357 853 601 WM7, that's what the '95 'chrome special' is listed as in ETKA You might also need 2 badge gromets, unless you can re-use your existing ones. Part number: 191 853 615A
  7. Here's an easier way to get the URL Click on the image thumbnail, so the larger image is now displayed Next, left click on the image, and with the mouse button still held down over the pic, move your mouse a few pixels. While still holding the left button, hold down the right button, then release the left. Now release the right button, and hey presto, the menu appears
  8. Yeah I just noticed that :D You can view the page source though, and get the URL's I know you cant right click, but you can get the same effect by pressing the key on your keyboard which looks like a drop-down list - it's between my windoze key and CTRL key, then click view source
  9. Right click works: http://www.vwhome.de/treffen/2004/bergkamen/002/010.jpg http://www.vwhome.de/treffen/2004/bergkamen/002/009.jpg
  10. Make sure you check they've put the letters on properly, I had some done at halfords a few years back, with teh bold 3D font, and they put the '1' upside down  Got a free replacement though. Although they didnt cut it properly when they were trimming the plastic off the edges...
  11. how did you manage to get a discount :? my local stealers see me quite a bit, and they give me nowt
  12. MAYBE BECAUSE YOU'RE DEAF? Sorry, but capitals are a bit :nono: :)
  13. I've just ditched HIC - useless phone system, and a £1200 quote for the VR6.... clean license, 8yrs no claims  Elephant were cheap, £650 but I think I'm going with Chris Knott for £720
  14. Yeah, the ones GPC sold me were V6X2 998 406 and not the ones with the part number on the VW invoice :?
  15. Yes, it's very odd! Bloomin stealership  *EDIT* I've just noticed the part numbers on the invoice for the Lupo wipers isnt the same as the one I bought from GPC, perhaps it's the older style Lupo wiper?
  16. I just realised, the VW price for the Lupo GTI Wipers is £68.93 EACH! Daylight robbery! GPC charge £17.62! That is an appaling £51 markup!
  17. Yeah I noticed that too... I can get the whole aero blade off the arm, no problem, but does that mean I have to replace the whole blade each time? I thought i could use refils for just the rubber part of the blade (the bit which actually touches the screen) or am I wrong? That is the bit that I reckon is tricky to remove and replace :?
  18. Yep, lucky I know a top quality bloke who usually repairs bentleys and such like. He's not cheap, but his work is top notch. If I ever need to get repairs done, I'd get 1 quote from a VW repair centre, and one from my repairer - we all know VW charge silly money (and the insurers would never choose the VW option  ), so I know at the end of the day my car would go to my bodyshop and be repaired properly

    VIN number

Just had the bonnet up, changing my wipers to the new Lupo ones I bought, but I noticed that to the left of the VIN plate, there is an unpainted large area (well, it's primered) anyway, on this sqaure is etched the VIN number. Looks a bit odd to me :confused4:, but is this how it is on your cars?
  20. I could drive other cars on my old TPFT policy on my Golf :?
  21. Well I'm forced to go fully comp, as the car is worth over £5k
  22. I havent crashed it yet  Just wanted to find out where I stand, in the event of damage
  23. about as useful as the Elephant bird I spoke to today. I asked her what the % refund was when I quit after x amount of time... 'I cant answer that' WTF?? useless bint  Then I asked her about running a 2nd car.. also couldnt help there! 'you'll need to speak to the other department' Next I argued about whether I could use my own repairer 'No you cant...' - and so what if I dont like the quality of the repairs? She said (in not so blunt terms :) ) tough sh1t. And so on, for another 10minutes
  24. Went to VW first, for a laugh  then GPC (all prices include VAT ) 2x Lupo GTI wipers: VW: £68.93     that was the price for *1* wiper!!! A pair from VW is £137.86!   GPC: £35.25 1x sunroof seal: VW: £43.49 GPC: £31.78 1x Driver's door window seal VW: £38.76 GPC: £31.72 1x Driver's side foglamp VW: £84.17 GPC: £64.63 1x Driver's side indicator VW: £30.86 GPC: £22.36 4x BBS wheel covers VW: £40.70 GPC: £30.55 1x Corrado badge VW: £10.94 GPC: £10.58 1x Rear VR6 Badge VW: £5.79 GPC: £4.70 1x Rear VW emblem VW: £9.62 GPC: £7.64 So, some nice savings overall! Still cant work out how on earth to change the lupo blades though  I could probably force the blade out, but it seems like a pain getting a new one in! Can't wait til I fit them, the originals are just sh1te... :)
