Bump start is different to a jump start, right? Bump start = push it to get it moving? And yes I remember reading that bump starting can damage the engine
-
Dont hear any click from the solenoid, and the dash lights dont dim :?
-
I'm sure the battery's fine, but I'll try and jump start it tonight. When I turn the key, the alarm sounds like it's trying to go off, but it's not - The bleeps sound like it's stuttering. Instead of a clear audible "BLEEP BLEEP BLEEP" if the alarm siren was actually going off, it's more like "BL-BL-BL-BLEEP" whe n the key is turned to the ignition position.

Oops, yeah dodgy immobiliser could well be a candidate... Fuel pump seems ok, as I can hear it whirring when the key's in the ignition. My dash lights work as normal Basically, I turn the key, I dont hear anything except the alarm chirping away Now how the hell do I get around the immobiliser :| Or totally remove it so I can get a new one fitted Call a professional thief perhaps?
-
Okay, well looking at previous posts, I can probably assume it's one of the following Starter motor Relay 109 Crankshaft position sensor Various fuses Fuel pump Ignition switch Does a problem with any of sound like they'd stop the car from turning over? :|
-
I dont think it's doing anything - I cant hear it turning over, not even a little bit. It's actually pretty new, the last guy had a new one fitted - I think that was a year ago. Havent checked the wires though Has anyone got any tips to isolate what the problem is? :confused4: Would a dodgy coilpack cause the exact same symptoms as I've got, i.e. not turning over at all? Antoher thing I've just remembered: Got the car serviced in Sept. and the mechanic replaced the cold start switch. I have no idea where it is or what it looks like, but I guess it's worth mentioning Cheers guys

 Tried starting the car yesterday morning, and it didnt want to know. So I took the battery out and left it on the charger 'til about an hour ago. The car still won't start :( It doesnt even turn over; I put the key in and go to start the car, all I get is the alarm bleeping at me What's the diagnosis? Starter motor? Dodgy immobiliser? I did actually leave the car undriven since last Thursday, I'm wondering whether the recent cold snap would have buggered something... I'm complete n00b when it comes to anything technical on a car so any help is welcome. I knew I should have joined the AA

Clickez vous

I'm sure its to do with the garage nozzle. First time I filled my Corrado up, I had a similar problem - at an Esso. Fuel nozzle didnt feel like it went in properly, and then when I tried squeezed the nozzle lever the puup kept cutting out every few secs..... Every other petrol station's nozzles work fine though, so I guess it was a one off.

Click here.. Or does he mean £3600???

I reset my MFA last week, after coming out of the petrol station. The road exiting the petrol station is all downhill, and I managed to get 50mpg  But that's cheating

Yeah I thought as much. And I'm under the impression that proper wheel refurb places put the wheels in an oven, dont they? The guy I saw says he leaves em to dry naturally. He did say the tyre comes off for him to sandblast the wheel, but once thats done, he sticks the tyre back on before doing the spraying
-
I've been meaning to get my wheels refurbed, so I took em to a place near me to see what they charge/quality of work. First of all, the guy charges £200 for a set of 4, but he doesnt supply wheels to use whilst mine are off the car... I was ready to walk away because I know other places that charge the same, and *do* provide a set of wheels. He wont go any cheaper than £200, after a lot of shaking his head and telling me how hard they are to work on.... They're solitudes ffs!!! So I point to a set of cross spokes in his garage and point out that they are a lot harder to work on than mine! At which point he agrees & smiles. He goes on about how good his wheels turn out after he works on them. He shows me a wheel he's working on and I'm thinking :confused4: - He's spraying a wheel which has a tyre on! He's used masking tape around the wheel rim. Am I wrong in thinking other places sandblast/machine/spray the wheel before the tyre goes back on? He insisted that every refurb place puts the tyre back on after the wheel is machined, and sprays it with the tyre on! I told him the paint would peel off if that's what he does.. and he even said 'yeah, but not for ages..' blah blah 'we've been here for 20 years, no complaints' blah blah He kept saying that if the wheel was sprayed before the tyre goes back on, the tyre fitting machine would damage the paint Is this guy talking nonsense? Do all refurbishers do it like this?

I'm wondering whether it's worth fitting the sunroof repair kit / new cables just incase my sunroof ceases up. I've got no problems with it at the moment; it tilits and slides just as it should and I greased it up recently. I'm just worried that something might break, at some point. :? And I should probably replace the door handles too (they're not broken either )

Have you got a spare key? Try using that, on the off chance your car has a transponder in the key (although as kev said, this is probably only '95 onwards cars) I had a problem with the car starting, then cutting out about a dozen times, and it was because of the faulty transponder.

I'm sure I saw a post about this book on here a few months back. I forgot all about it til now; just ordered the last one from Amazon for £10.95 8) http://www.motolit.com/vwcolied19.html Sounds like a good read:

I heard somewhere that if they mark the parcel as 'returns' then you can avoid tax. Dunno if that's true or not. I'd be interested in bringing over a charger too if that's the case :)

I've got a lights on buzzer, dunno if it was fitted at birth -
How about these :? http://www.autogeek.net/parsmarmagdo.html They look goddamn silly, but I suppose they do the job Anyone brave enough to try them out on a Corrado?

Try £7995  Click here

I'm with Chris Knott, they seemed pretty friendly/helpful when I joined in June - And I managed to get through first time, unlike HIC :gag: :2gunfire: Haven't had to make any claim though.. Then again, any insurer will try to worm their way out of paying if you make a claim. They'll pick out the slightest thing to invalidate your policy :|

Had a ride in one of these the other day  I couldn't believe how quick it was! Apparently 0-60 in under 8 secs, it just kept pulling and pulling with 3 of us in the car. 163bhp and 250lbs of torque, it goes like the clappers. It handled superbly too. Apparently Schnitzer tune them to 190bhp I'm not too keen on it's looks though, but it's probably one of those cars that grows on you  £20k is pretty steep, but I must admit the quality was top notch.

Update: I got it VAG-COM'd on saturday, and the problem showed up as something to do with the key/transponder I cant remember the proper code. I was quite pleased it didnt show up any other errors 8) Anyway, the mechanic suggested using the spare key. It seems to start 1st time more often now, but still ocassionally plays up. The guy also said if it's not the key, then it's 'the coil' next to the ignition barrel which isnt picking up the signal from the transonder, or something.. He said he wasnt sure if it could be changed in the corrado, but you can with a mk3 golf VR6 :| I'll have to pay the $tealers a visit to see how much this magical coil costs
