  1. What engine? I had this in my vr. Through unplugging the sensors on the housing at the front of the engine I narrowed it down to one of them. I replaced all three, but the yellow one is for the ecu, the blue for the dial and the back for the fan control if I remember correctly, although it's late and I've had a beer or two lol
  2. I had exactly the same today (well, my mate did lol). It looked like the bolts are allen headed bolts that go from in from the centre of the car pointing to the outside. The allen heads rounded straight off, drilled the heads off, still stuck, so hacksawed/disc cut between the valve and the bracket and it does look like the bolts are threaded all the way through, but etka/vag-cat show the bolts going in from the other side (ie from the outside of the car pointing in to the middle) but no sign of bolts on the inside of the bracket bit, so what the allen heads are for I don't know. Hopefully someone with more knowledge will be along soon http://www.partsbase.org/vw/corrado-cor-eu-1994-115-brake-force-regulator/
  3. Just to update this post, I did some brake work/investigation today http://the-corrado.net/showthread.php?92833-MOT-Test-fail-corroded-pipes-and-brake-imbalance Long and short is: New bias valve needed, seal kits for both rear callipers, one new flexi, one new hard pipe for rear, drill out and new nipples for front callipers plus new hard pipes up front. Onwards and upwards :)
  4. Ok - had a crack on with this today. The bias valve is ****ed - the rubber bellows is split and some bits dropped out, so a new one will be ordered. It was an utter sod to get off, the bolts seem to go in from the wrong side, and had no heads on the bracket, so the unit had to be ground/hacksawed off -.- Both nipples on the rear are free and easy to turn, and the pistons move in and out on both sides, so I'm going to strip and reseal both the rear callipers, as they seem fine, as do the pistons. The rubber boot on the nearside has totally rotted away though!! A point to note, the flexible pipe that goes over the rollbar/axle/thing? has been rubbing, to the point where I suspect it would fail very soon :/ It's worth checking your pipes ladies and gentlemen. I'll grab a pic next time I'm back at my parents. The corroded offside pipe is the one that runs out of the bias valve and across the axle. I'll make up a new one. The front to rear brake pipes have been refitted in copper at some point, so I'll probably do the replacement the same, or maybe kunifer. The replacement copper ones have been there a while and have done the job. The front nipples. it seems the garage told me a porkie. They've snapped off one nipple -.- I'm going to drill out the old nipple and fit new ones both sides. Didn't get a chance to look at which pipes are corroded as it started raining, but I suspect it's the ones from the pump to the front flexis, which again I'll remake. Onwards and upwards :)
  5. Thanks for the words and advice. The car's going to my parents as they have decent hard standing, plus all my tools are there! I'll hopefully start tackling the issues soon. I certainly can't bring myself to part with her, so the work will be done :) Typically, the weather has now changed ^_^
  6. Cheers for the advice - I'll see what I can see once I get the old girl up in the air!
  7. Hey all - I need some enthusiasm. My car went for it's ticket last month and failed on a few things. I've been pretty despondent about it, hence only now making this thread. I've owned this car for 11 years, and has lots of sentimental value to me. In years gone by I would just have given it to a garage and said fix it, but unfortunately I can't do that, so am going to try and fix it myself. I've managed to get access to some decent hard standing, so that's a plus, but I really need some enthusiasm to get going. I've had a lot go wrong this year - house fire back in March, ongoing health investigations since August, family issues and now the car needs fixing as well. Bah. I can't bring myself to sell my beloved Corrado, but I know if I don't fix her, she'll just deteriorate, so I need a kick up the arse to get started. See below for the fail sheet: I've put up posts about the brakes and emissions in the right places, so hopefully will get some pointers. The bulb is an easy fix, and I guess the windscreen will be done on insurance (phone up for chip repair £10 if they can fix £75 if the can't). Any pointers on my two posts would really be gratefully received, plus any words of encouragement on here too lol, even if it is "Pull your bloody finger out!" Sorry for the self pitying post - I want to get the old girl back on the road. Cheers
  8. Hi - car went for it's ticket last month and failed, amongst other things, on: Nearside and offside front pipes excessively corroded Offside rear pipe excessively corroded Brake load sensing valve seized Brakes imbalanced across rear axle. Normally I'd give it to a garage to fix, but that's not possible right now. So, a few questions: Are the pipes available off the shelf? If not, how would I get some made up? The car had brake work done a few years ago, and I seem" to recal them saying they couldn't bleed the front brakes as they couldn't/wouldn't undo the bleed nipples. If the nipples are goosed, is that a problem? Brake sensor - douse with WD40 and jump up and down in the boot to free it off I assume? Brake imbalance - looking at the nearside disc, the outer part of the disc isn't being swept by the pad. Faulty pad or sticky calliper? I assume there's meat on the pad as no mention of low pads has been made. It's my only car, so used as and when (although not all that much). Any pointers really appreciated. Thanks
  9. HI all. Car went for it's ticket last month and failed on a few things, one of which was emissions. Below is the supplied printout. It's a 94 vr Any ideas on how to sort this out? The car failed on corroded brake pipes (easy fix (replacement) I guess?), brake imbalance across rear axle (seized calliper I guess?) seized rear load sensing valve (wd40 and jump up and down in the boot?) plus damaged windscreen. In the past I would have just given it to a garage and said fix it. Unfortunately that isn't an option at the moment due to monetary issues. I really want to get this sorted as if not the car will just sit about deteriorating. The car is my every day car, but I don't do a lot of miles. I think I did about 4k since the previous ticket. I don't have vag-com, nor do I know anyone with it. I'd really appreciate some help on the emissions. Cheers Edit - for some reason the wires connecting the lambda sensor look like a mess - the wires have come out of the car's plug/socket, so have been botched in place. It's been like that for at least the last 11 years (how long I've owned the car lol).
  10. I'm going to hold judgement until the buyer's feedback increases ;)
  11. Saw this on the Corrado FB page: http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&alt=web&id=291558345748&globalID=EBAY-GB £5000 for a cat d car with a mismatched wing, lots of rust patches and warped discs - it seems a bit overpriced to me. What's your opinion?

It's to do with airflow iirc, something about creating a better hole through the air. Or I might just be talking a load of old balls lol
  13. It connects to the pcv valve via t as seen on my pic and then continues on to the carbon canister located under the airbox. I see your pcv has been removed.
  14. I replaced the downpipe to manifold just the other week and just used the two triangular gaskets with no issues.
  15. Bought my '93 VR 10 years ago. She had 80k now at 143k. Used as a daily driver, but was off the road for about a year whilst I was using a van for work. Have two kids (5 1/2 and 1 1/2 year olds) and find using the car with them is no problems whatsoever. Really don't get the idea you can't use a Corrado as a family car. The boot is big enough to get our gear in for a week's holiday. Been a stay at home father for the last 5 and a half years. It's quite amazing what you can get in it - I've transported a double futon complete with mattress in it before ^_^
  16. This thread really should be moved back to General Car Chat -.-
  17. Yeah can this be moved back please mods?
  18. Could be interested depending on location and price, as £36 for the CCGB National Day is just too much for me. Would certainly be up for camping too. VR6 in Norfolk
  19. Nice one matey. Always a great feeling when you get a fresh new ticket for another year :)
  20. http://www.partsbase.org/vw/corrado-cor-eu-1994-184-seat/ Hmmm - looking at PartsBase, the handle for the forward and back slide control are used on quite a few other cars: http://www.partsbase.org/parts/vw-171881253/ but the up and down lever looks to be Corrado specific. http://www.partsbase.org/parts/vw-535881253/ http://www.partsbase.org/parts/vw-535881254/ but I should say that's not necessarily 100% true - someone with real world knowledge may know better :)
  21. Looking on vag-cat there's two part numbers listed for the pump: 6N0145157 and 6N0145157 X And partsbase show a third: 535145157 Don't know if that helps.
  22. I had a hole in the bulkhead with a rubber grommet in it underneath the water bottle and just to the right of the ABS stuff in my VR. It comes out behind the lower trim on the passenger side and is easy enough to run from there. I tried to take a pic but it's all wet and rainy lol
  23. A big thanks for a smooth and easy transaction with VR6 Gar - well packaged and good delivery. Great stuff Gareth. Many thanks once again :)
  24. A nine year bump? Holy thread revival batman.
  25. Just fill all the voids with expanding foam - that'll stop the ******* from rattling/squeaking ^_^ Note - don't do this :/
