  1. dont see why he cant have parts off it....
  2. sounds like a cheaper option Lisa but let me know what you two decide..
  3. you're better putting the link up, those are just specs of different fitments. 5x100 is what you need for the VR but hopefully you knew that already, the important bit after that and the size is the offset of the wheel.
  4. congratulations! shame you didnt have any luck selling the other one but it will be handy to keep spares from it and this one will be awesome instead!! :)
  5. almost.. 7, being on the winning side in the G60 vs VR6 argument :D
  6. by the time you've bought front and rear koni shocks and some lowering springs to go with them (eg. H&R) then you'll have spent well over £500 and for the sake of an extra £150 odd quid you might as well just go straight for the KWs. I'm not saying the Koni/H&Rs are bad (you get damping adjustment for a start) but if you're set on coilovers you might as well just buy them now for the small difference in price. hth, John
  7. Will be heading there for lunchtime if anyone else is going along? Know someone taking part so hope to get some good pics!
  8. ah, well yes maybe it was that, sorry. but i dont think we'd be able to get a servo and sensor setup new from another manufacturer cheaper would we? just going on the price of parts in general :(
  9. I know Vince posted this thread on the VR6OC forum too so if you need more then there would be the next place to start. am waiting on a used one being delivered but if the price becomes reasonable then i may still come in for this. cheers
  10. thats been looked at in this thread if you look back through it.. not sure if there was a definitive outcome though
  11. So with these wheels I'm gonna have problems with tyres? It all depends on the height of the car. If you want the tyres to look "normal" (ie. 205 or 215) and to lower it nicely then yes you will get rubbing. But the ET is fine (spacers will make the rubbing worse...) and so if you keep it a bit higher then you'll be alright. If not then you need some arch work
  12. i have the H&Rs on mine Hasan if you want a comparison. i believe Crazydave has PIs on his and has said there is a noticable difference between his and mine. can drop by sometime if you want?
  13. surely vince/other businesses would sign up to take quite a few if the price could be got down to a vaguely sensible level? we can probably get some interest here but surely its in the interests of all of the vw specialists to have access to some of these?
  14. this is just retarded, even if they were just a franchise the absolute lack of effort by any businesses in general to reuse or pass anything on is pathetic these days. hope you get sorted soon enough but the western world should be embarrassed by the habits we've got into.. i'm glad its still on course though, was worried when i read the first line of your post!

no, if you reset while moving it will give you the mpg as at that second which, if you're off throttle at 70mph, might be amazing! it will then generally get worse as your driving varies, and only stay similar if your speed/throttle stays almost the same. remember in those circumstances it hasnt had to go through the cold start phase and all the winding out of town to the motorway from where you might live etc.
  16. someone needs to do a guide to the non-dash-out way as its time-consuming enough working everything out when you do it the long way, let alone when you cant see what you're doing!
  17. i would just er "crack" on and give it a go to be honest, if you have someone give you a hand it should take you well under a day. I did mine myself having never taken anything apart on the car before at all and its just a job you have to be patient for and then as you say a prospective buyer will be pleased that its been done.
  18. yeah, parking is the only valid excuse there, but just take your time to find somewhere out of the way and you'll be fine!
  19. a very measured rant Mic :) hope its a good day, wish I had a bike to join in on too..
  20. its the equivalent of what a lot of people put together for between £500 and £700 using second hand refurbed bits. If you want everything new then its probably not so bad but you might as well get bigger discs than 312s if you're spending out on big brakes, but they then cost more. They have UK distributors though (assuming you're not in the US?).
  21. I guess my only thought on it is that the market will be very limited - ie. only to people that dont ever plan to sell their car (even if maybe they still do!). By the time you have a car of a quality that warrants spending that much on it (probably still £1500 at best even without an engine) and you've then bought the engine and any other parts needed (say £1k for argument), then you're up to a minimum of £8k, which as i understood it was a little more what your old car went for last time with all its extras. By no means am i saying the work involved and the result isnt worth that, but as you know, 2nd hand cars of that nature take some selling when compared against the prices of standard corrados or standard 4motions. I guess that still applies to any paid-for 24v conversion though  What about if you offered a service to convert everything to the spec required for someone to do a diy installation? Maybe you could turn those over much quicker and the price wouldnt be as much to take on for someone who fancied giving the install work a go themselves?

if i'm lucky, more often around 18 :D but mines not right though, it shouldnt be as bad as that! it will still get up towards 30 on the motorway if i'm not going too fast..
