    Paint Codes

i would say aqua blue but in that light you cant tell, it could be another blue or even a green.
  3. no, you cant sell your plate, unless it was another private registration you bought. when you put on your new one you theoretically lose the old one, but 95% they will give it back to you when you take your private plate off, its just not guaranteed.
  4. yea, but can it fail to "release" the gear at all, if wanting to stop the car :) yes!!
  5. I guess you'd want white ones again Kev but that guy that was breaking the Aqua VR (goosey666 i think) had a black set with tyres that he had up for £600. Cheers for the heads up! I'd prefer silver this time round, but they'd have to be sprayed as you can't get them in silver in 5x100. You can get them brand new for around £450, so £600 for s/hand ones is way overpriced imo! oh, thought they were more than that, new is better then! should have known based on some of his other prices ;)

  7. I've actually got a spare one if you want Danny, could drop it in tomorrow? cheers John

    VR Oil cooler leak

seals are pretty common failures and new ones cure the problem, cant see any need to replace the whole thing.
  9. that they certainly did.. and we've all got stories to tell about one place or another. half the time they'll conflict with each other (eg. i had a long standing misfire caused by failed wiring thankfully sorted out by Stealth) but everyone has to take the rough feedback with the smooth.
  10. Oh no! Really? Whats the best setup then? Dont know if it helps mate, but mine are 17x7.5 ET30 and i have an easy cm room to spare in the arches. I would have thought ET40 8 inch would fit ok but you may have to roll the arches. the only reason for saying it is that an ET40 wheel will be 5mm closer to the suspension (ie. less clearance on the inner side of the wheel, not from the outer side to the arch). and then if its an 8in vs a 7.5in then it is 12-13mm wider overall, or 6+mm wider either side. so, in total, an 8in ET40 wheel will be 11mm or more closer to the suspension than the ET35 7.5in wheel. arch clearance would be fine with this, and you say they're rolled anyway, but its the other side you need to be thinking about with high offsets - ie clearance on the springs of your suspension. obviously it partly depends what tyres you're running too and if you have more than about 12mm with at least some suspension compression then you'll be ok, just saying its worth checking thats all. normal ET for an 8in wheel would be more like 32 (or halfway between 30 and 35 as Coullstar was saying.)
  11. i would doubt if an 8in ET40 wheel would clear the suspension.
  12. I guess you are alright if the car doesnt come with a spare, as long as you tell them that and not just that you dont have one..
  13. Seems that way. My missus's Polo doesn't have a spare wheel, but does have a jack :cuckoo:  yes, and I think the mobile tyre fitters that you'll be paying £100 to in those circumstances will happily include free use of their own jack.. :mad2:
  14. lol, and tell them that I threw out that square plasticky thing that was rolling around the footwell when i got out?! i'm just going to have to get on with making some kind of boot floor/carpet that fits nicely over the spare speedline that I should have been carrying around with me to cope with this situation!
  15. Probably wont apply to many people but just thought I'd warn you in case you dont carry a spare (or one that fits in my case) or a can of Tyreweld. I'm away from home at the moment and realised last night I had a flat tyre - looks like a nail's gone straight in. Thought it would be no problem as I'd call the AA this morning before I wanted to get going and they could take the car or, at worst, me and the tyre to a tyre repair place. No - apparently the terms of the AA state that you must have a serviceable spare tyre for them to come and swap for you or otherwise all they will do is call a Mobile Tyre fitter and let you arrange a replacement tyre from them. Luckily I've found out I'm only half a mile from a repair place so I'm just going to take it off and walk down there with it but I thought my £100/year AA Relay would have got me out of it a bit easier than that.. :?
  16. if you come to london or to any meet i'm at then let me know and i can let you try out one of my mettallic black solitudes if you want?
  17. lots of people used them including myself, never heard any bad stories
  18. that looks really nice :) i was rereading all the brake comments from when the thread first went up. having done open pit lane at brands on thursday i realised that my 288s with Redstuff pads were beginning to fade due to heat after about 18-20mins. however, i think with as much weight taken out as you've done there then you should be fine for a fair while longer than that. keep the updates coming!
  19. sounds like 3 things that are always worth doing, although i'd find it hard not to fill up with a transits worth of jerry cans of that cheap petrol instead! if only it lasted well..
  20. i dont know if this works when you are not taking the whole dash out, but on the inside of the bulkhead the bolt does not have a normal hex end - instead it is terminated with a much larger plastic threaded piece which in turn screws into the plastic housing for the matrix. this happened to me and eventually i managed to spot the plastic screw thread was undoing itself from the matrix housing. therefore i just carried on and it eventually released it. however, without taking the dash out i dont know if you'd have the movement needed for the matrix housing to be pushed away from the bulkhead. hope that makes sense, try and look up from the footwell to where the bolt comes through the bulkhead and you might be able to see what i mean.

    Fuel Prices

i think you still get a bit of carbon dioxide too - its only burning hydrogen that only produces water ;)
  22. :) to be fair they were the rears, obviously the fronts being driven were nice and clean, the rears dont get any way to clean themselves. oh and got through about £40 of petrol doing 80 miles round the track too :D
  23. Had another good time this evening, open pitlane so as much time out as you chose. Must say I'm pretty happy that Brands is the nearest track to me - could do a lot worse than this an hour away. IMG_1525.JPG[/attachment:1ei4cdra] and do you think this is what they mean in Formula 1 by "not looking after your tyres"?? climatronic wiring-Golf from May 01.pdfIMG_1527.JPG[/attachment:1ei4cdra]2.8l 24v Climatronic system.pdfIMG_1528.JPG[/attachment:1ei4cdra]
  24. Theres an open pit-lane evening session at Brands Hatch today so I'm going to go down, not too bad at £115 and they still have plenty of spaces. If anyone else is free and as completely cavalier about money as me at the moment then come down!
