  1. would it be so hard for dealers to keep this kind of basic stuff in stock..??
  2. i'm sure someone could buy you one and send it to you if you asked? would that be ok? do recalls not have a time limit on them though? have your garage said they'd do it if you could get the part?

hope its not serious.. as said in the other thread, the car looks really really good - with the wheels it cant help but remind you of an seriously upmarket integrale these days, hope you take that as the compliment its intended to be.
  4. :confused4: what was that? car looks really good in those pics..
  5. fair enough, but probably only to the tune of £10k or £15k, still not bad!!
  6. those runs are mental... to be that close to a car which costs 10 times as much is some achievement indeed. i'm surprised the veyron owner didnt throw his toys out and go home.. think you picked a good car Dr. :salute:
  7. Agreed, nor have I. But I have seen lots of broken guides come out of engines having chains done so it is definitely a risk, if a low one. The benefit of doing the clutch at the same time makes it worth it overall i think though. For the job itself, if you have a ramp to do it then taking the gearbox out from underneath is possible (Stealth do this) but if doing yourself then engine out is far easier and allows you a good look at everything.
  8. surely if it says "use 98(or 99?) RON" in the filler cap then thats what the engine is best tuned for?
  9. at 120/130k miles though then clutch and chains should make about 500 difference to the price
  10. its not a hard and fast rule. if you dont plan to do many miles then no great rush if you're skint. if you've got the money and you know you're keeping the car for 50k miles/5 years then anytime from then on is a worthwhile investment
  11. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Offset_(wheel) or http://www.1010tires.com/WheelOffsetCalculator.asp but basically offset is the gap between the centre line of the wheel and the mounting face of the wheel. a speedline is et43 which means the mounting face is 43mm away from the centre line of the wheel towards the spokes. if you leave the shape and design of the wheel constant and just extend the mounting face to the centre line of the wheel then as you say that is ET0. however, if you do that, the wheel will sit further out of the arch because the hub has not moved. the biggest offset wheels i've heard of are porsche design 90s/928s etc which are about et60. as i say, i dont think 98 is the offset unless they're from something very unusual!!
  12. i'd be amazed if there were wheels out there of ET98. 4x98 is a not uncommon bolt pattern for other makes of car but 4 or 5x100 is what you need for corrados i'll try to find the link that explains offset so i dont have to type it out!
  13. serious effort in all of this, congratulations on how it looks. :notworthy:
  14. yeah, i'd seen that! what kind of gearing are you going to have to run to get 180?
  15. cant wait to see what this is capable of!
  16. happy to come and drive your car around but dont know how much expertise i could offer apart from comparing to mine!
  17. Strictly Dubs import and sell the Gruven stuff although there's no issue buying direct either.
  18. definitely! howden to driffield to scarborough at night when its quiet is the reason i've kept driving it rather than getting the train! :D
  19. :gag: tough break that, glad you've stuck with it and are going to get to enjoy it now though :notworthy:
  20. Yeah, not the most frugal of journeys but can do it in 3 and a half hours if it's dark :D
  21. i'd get which ever Team Dynamics wheels come first. if you cant get the striped ones you could always put your own tape on the black ones!
  22. just noticed you were in Scarborough, been up there a fair bit recently so will keep my eye out next time i'm there!
  23. what do you mean "fit over the oe springs"??
  24. not really clear what the shocks are from that description and my H&R springs are green so the blue ones in the pic are a bit confusing too. i have a set of brand new PI springs that drop about 35mm if you want them - not sure how they work with standard dampers but i'm sure you could find someone thats tried the combination.
  25. 3CMs = 3CorsaMeal's :) - but in his video on page 1 i would say it was definitely 3cms movement too!
