  1. my point is you threw quite a lot of toys out of the pram considering it was only a week that you had not heard anything after the guy had already said he was struggling as he was busy. the details of what you are accusing each other arent really important anymore seeing as the item has been sent now and you both still disagree. however you have to accept that the fact that you suggested he may be a scammer is probably what has lead to this taking a heated tone - what I was saying above is that if you had worded it a little more sensibly then there probably wouldnt have been this slanging match. lets just leave it now seeing as a) he has shown he is not a scammer, b) you hopefully have received your item and so there is no more need to discuss it in this thread.
  2. This isn't specifically aimed at the exchange above, but its just one common example of the issues that crop up. In more than 5 years of being on this forum I can think of 1, perhaps 2 occasions of people buying something and then the seller simply disappearing and never delivering it. Compare that low number to the number of cases brought up in this thread and I think that gives a guideline about how quick people should be to start having too much of a go at each other here, let alone accusing them of dishonesty. People do have to work, people do let stuff get on top of them, some people are disorganised, some people are just flaky but very, very few are crooked. I'm not saying its an excuse and that in an ideal world things wouldnt turn up the day after we paid, but I would suggest that in the first instance a little mention in this thread as nudge is more appropriate than starting off all guns blazing. Maybe this forum is different to other larger forums with some less scrupulous people on there, but if you want a risk-free purchase then buy something new. If you buy 2nd-hand you need to make some allowance for people's fallibilities and be constructive about how you go about solving a problem you think you have.
  3. my renewal suddenly has a £75 windscreen excess on it - so thanks to all of you guys "accidently" dropping hammers on your screens while getting a respray.. :mad2: ;)

    Corrado tow-bar wanted

Please start a thread in the relevant section rather than hijack someone elses unrelated one. Have moved your posts to this new thread instead.
  5. you mean the engines arent strong or something? i cant instantly think of a reason why performance should drop off after a relatively short period of time. do you know people that have had them who've had problems etc?
  6. You should be ok with that most of the time although 205 tyres always give you more breathing space.
  7. I would imagine that this would need some kind of arch rolling to avoid rubbing unless you drive very slowly! ---------- Post added at 10:20 PM ---------- Previous post was at 10:19 PM ---------- if you dont want to do any other mods then 8 is as wide as you want to go and Et30 as low in offset terms. i dont know that you're able to adjust offset to your choice while banding though, it will just be varied from its original value by as much as the steel is widened?
  8. i forsee a problem here.. :D
  9. will my wheels fit?? :D (click picture)
  10. me too, mine nearly failed on it last year as well and this sounds simpler than going fixed column :)
  11. i'm very tempted to do this - especially given the price/quality trade-off you mention. when i mentioned it a while back Kev mentioned that they might look a bit weedy in comparison but at the same time they'd effectively lower the car a little as well and for me I wouldnt consider that a bad thing! toyo R1Rs at £72 are pretty tempting :)
  12. they're both pretty impressive yup, the caterham is obviously skittish but when its gripping it goes where its meant to - the amount of extra effort the gt2 driver has to put in to deal with the weight of his car is much more obvious when you compare the two. not sure which i'd be happier trying to cope with!

    Fog lights again!

relying on dates isnt accurate, if they are the kind that include the housing for the indicator as well then yes they are correct, early lights dont have the indicator housing attached.
  14. these two videos are epic if you like a bit of nurburgring action :D Caterham R500 (260hp/504kg) - check out the wobble at 2.11  and the same lap from the Porsche 996 GT2 (480bhp/1440kg) - just as much commitment!
  15. So, you know the thread that i linked to above, the one that I said you would have seen when you went to Site Comments to post this thread? Did you read the one I linked to? Did you see the bit where it says: ?

    test post

testing how the blogs work so we can get a guide together to help the section work consistently
  17. no, thats normal. basically if you have a lot in your sig (ie. a photo) then it will look weird. The signature section doesnt start until the bottom of the avatar/details section on the left so the more in your sig, the more pronounced the issue. i ditched my sig photo to alleviate it although I agree it would be nice if it didnt do it that way.
  18. you know when you went to start this thread in Site Comments and Questions? you might have seen this thread in that section before you posted yours?
  19. true, paving slabs cheaper though :D
  20. paving slabs in the boot a la top gear to level out the ride height and it will look ok :)
  21. DG is in Kidderminster - thread title changed for you.
  22. have merged this What Suspension thread into the main Suspension Discussion thread but also left an expiring redirect in the drivetrain thread since that is possible with the new forum software. hope no-one is too confused :)
