  1. havent quite got round to it yet as I was going to refurb a set of calipers before taking it all off. cheers for the warning about the brackets though.. would you say the change in braking force is enough to justify adjusting the bias valve? I had a new one put on when i went 288 & 280 and believe it was adjusted to suit.
  2. no worries mate, i've got a set too which the repair kit is destined for! cheers though.
  3. ah thanks mic, remember you talking about volvo in the past now. will check and give them a go!
  4. anyone bought them recently? i was under the impression they were £12-15 each but went to the dealers yesterday and was told it was about £45+vat for a combined kit for both sides.. is this right? especially since the individual ones for front 288s were the £12-odd i was expecting above.. can you get them from GSF etc?
  5. isnt standard pretty pricey too though? (employee discounts aside!)
  6. there is a substantial suspension thread you should look at but unfortunately there isnt much talk about shocks/springs these days as people normally only go with coilovers so they can set them up as they like just for cosmetic reasons. places like europerformance have a good range to choose from though so you're best of looking at the online retailers for choice but you wont get too much sophistication for that budget i'm afraid.
  7. none in the rear cards, just the parcel shelf supports
  8. can you do a screenshot? not really understanding what you're on about :)
  9. dont you see this view when you click "go advanced"? all the normal options are there if you hover over the icons?
  10. no problems. dont know what your budget is, but sometimes you can get 2nd hand tyres (including slicks sometimes!) from professional racers too. whether going the 2nd hand route really depends on how cheaply you can get your tyres fitted though, and also the more grip you have the stiffer the set up on your car needs to be.
  11. I havent used any of the others I'm afraid - from what i've read the other varieties are just as good value for money (ie. maybe not quite as good, but cheaper to compensate). the trouble is that there arent too many types available in our sizes - and just looking now, it seems not that much cheaper either.. :( I might be tempted to get a cheaper brand if you're starting out on track days to get a feel for the limits they give and the general feel under hard use (most middle range brands should hold up ok). once you've got used to the car and pushing it then a step up to something more focussed will let you choose if you like paying the extra or whether you have just as much fun drifting around on something not so sticky :) (ps. if you've done lots already then just ignore all that!)
  12. I'm afraid Rotation have been out of stock for a good 18 months and that price was from before that - these days 205/40/17s are at least £150 if not £160 each, they had a massive price hike last year. I would call camskill and see what they quote over the phone, otherwise, hang around on a few track-based forums/websites (northloop/bookatrack/openpitlane etc) and see if anyone knows any good deals. regarding the SGs, they're only really intended for hill-climbs where you need instant bite with little/no warm-up, as you say, you will kill them on a track. otherwise there are a number of other track tyres out there which are cheaper - kumho & federal are a couple of examples which you'll see if you search on the track day or even general sections of tyre sites. toyo also do a less hardcore tyre now called the R1R which although its not much cheaper has more tread and better wet performance if you want something for the road as well.
  13. maybe rear calipers siezed and therefore only applying light pressure even when using handbrake? are the rear discs clean?
  14. yup, almost exactly standard figures there - seems at least in reasonable nick!
  15. yes, and yes, but they are really not worth it at todays exchange rates (they werent really worth the £205 when the rates were good, they just looked nice). i priced replacement discs at £260 the other day compared with ~£50 for standard. going to lock this up as there is another thread for 280mm rears.
  16. good to know its finally sorted, cheers.
  17. the bits will all come up sooner or later so unless you're in a rush then they're not too expensive to get together - maybe £300?
  18. how are you expecting to drop it more and still be able to turn the front wheels based on the picture above?!

    Wow...

tbh its just a normal "someone sells something, doesnt send it recorded delivery, it gets lost, person wont/cant refund money, everyone chips in slagging people off, no-one steps in to get it sorted out in a dignified manner". i still maintain that even in sales that go badly wrong, the person at fault has almost never intended to let it get that far, but the pressure of it going wrong with a few other circumstantial issues causes it all to escalate. keep calm and carry on as they say..

    Wow...

Dont go on MkIVs too often but thats some pretty weak modding of what was going on if I say so myself!
  21. unfortunately that doesnt seem to be the only circumstance that causes it as i've approved things this evening without them but thanks for any hints that you think might be helpful.
  22. no, its not every post by any means, probably less than 5%, but there doesnt seem to be any reason for it either. hope you can keep your patience till it gets fixed.
  23. no.. what do you want to change it to and I'll sort it for you
  24. vr & valver slam panels were different I thought?
