I've just ordered the plugs to make myself one of these, I'm planning to use the connections on the male end and heatshrink the connectors on just like Andy does. The one I made for my MK2 Golf has been fine for a few years, the only thing that concerns me is the relay is not in any kind of water proof enclosure and the lack of waterproofing on the connectors. The advantage of using the original connectors and not chopping about the harness is that if a relay or fuse does blow under the boonet you can quickly whip the uprated loom off and plug the lights back to standard. However I'b be happier if the relay was in a waterproof enclosure - theres a good reason why the standard relays (for the rad fans) are in a box and sited where they are.
-
Yeah, in fact almost _any_ recaro seat not just VW supplied ones. Good luck finding the recaro subframes......
-
How have you waterproofed the relays?

I have a pair from the last time they were on special. They are fine on flat surfaces, but as they are designed to support the car on the middle pole, with the three legs acting to stabilise they are RUBBISH on slightly uneven surfaces as only 2 legs may be in contact and they move about a bit. I'd buy some like this next time: I've found all Aldi stuff is really high quality for the price.

Brill! would love one of these as an alternative camper - until I realised they arent actually very big inside! Are many parts unique to the 101 fc? I thought they used plenty of normal LR parts?! My dad has a 1991 200tdi Disco (I know certain LR peeps look down on the disco!!!) sat on his drive looking sad that he has owned since new. Its awaiting him getting over his knee operation then it will be back on the road. I remember as a kid going on the local LR club "play days" in quarries and the like when the car was nearly new, great fun! If he doesn't put it back on the road then I'll have it when I get a place with a driveway. But my ultimate LR is an s3 109 soft top on parobolics and a 200tdi under the bonnet. Not sure why but i think it would just work! a mate at uni had an ex military s2a 109 softtop, we used to whip the top off and load it with people and mountain boards, great memories!

I asked this question not long ago but decided to stick wth 205s. I suppose if you told your insurers there wouldn't be a problem. viewtopic.php?f=23&t=62379

After selling my previous Corrado I sold the genuine roof bars I had for the same price I bought them - £70ish :( Now I have another C for when its running right I decided to invest in another roofrack for boards and bikes. You can't get the VW bars or Thule footpacks anywhere new and people seem to be holding onto second hand ones. A fruitless search turned up nothing :( I then noticed these automaxi bars like yours on ebay for £68 delivered which are the same as the above but not as good as VW/Thule ones: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... 0141277762 However I thought I'd do a titles and descriptions search which turned up these advertised as toyota yaris bars for £58 delivered: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... 0098340580 It would appear that automaxi "supra" roof bars kit "3" fits the corrado, yaris, mazda mx-3, suzuki baleno and mazda 323 which both of those are above. They may just not advertise them as fitting the Corrado as C's are getting on a bit. However being even more of a bvargain hunter (pikey) turned up this for £16 delivered: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... 0149112682 Which looks to be the Automaxi footpack included with the kits above. Brilliant, I can just use these with the bars which I also use on my Mk2 (just remove the gutter feet)! That last seller also sells bars for £21 delivered so if he will do a deal on postage you could get a complete pair of the automaxi roof bars pictured above for £31.65 delivered. Hope this helps someone!!!!!!!!! :D

Um, Mk1 golfs maybe some polos will fit in thats it. Oh yeah the first VAG seat ibizas seats use the same runners. Will sit too high tho!
-
Nope they won't fit without modification and will probably sit too high. The corrado shares seat rails with Mk2 golfs, but if you replace corrado seats with uncomfortable Mk2 seats you are nuts plus they will sit too high. Mk2 recaros will slide in but sit too high. About the only seats that will work straight off and not sit too high are std corrado seats or corrado recaro subframes + the recaros of your choice.....

Also noticed I'm missing the inlet manifold gasket between the upper and lower intake manifolds (upper no. 10). Anyone know a source or part numbers? Cheers.

Found out which cyclinder fires off which point on the dizzy - as you look at the dizzy its: 6 3 2 5 4 1 (Mine were on correctly)
-
Probably sucked a bit of water up and it steam cleaned the internals - theres long threads on clubgti about feeding a couple of litres of water in via a vac hose and the benefits of the cleaning it gives! No really I'm being serious!
-
humm just checked the bentley to see if my leads are going to the correct cylinder :? But its not shown anywhere. Anyone have a diagram of which point fires which cylinder??? Also looking at the diagram attached I noticed the RFI cap that normally has cylinder numbers on it which I am mising and the rotor arm should have a screw in it - mine doesn't but is a secure fit on the dizzy. Would these two missing cause me the problem ?! the dizzy cap also can be turned slightly (1 or 2 degrees) when clipped up - is that right ?! These where both missing when the car was running right so I think i'm clutching at straws until I have the injectors back in.
-
I might have a spare new one I bought for my car recently but I didn't need it as my spindles were sloppy not the bushes. Let me take a look at the weekend for you. Or maybe I'll just stick it on ebay as RARE OBSOLETE for £200 etc etc (joking...)

Right not managed to get the injectors back in because I only had 30mins to mess with the car today. But my Draper compression tester showed up in the post. I had to do the test with the engine cold as the injectors are still out, anyway here are the results: Cyl 1 2 3 4 5 6 Dry 12.75 13.5 12 13.25 13 12.25 Wet 14.5 Figures in bar. I only did cylinder 1 wet as I didn't have anything to get oil into the other cylinders without dribbling it down the aperture, 1 is pretty accessible. The Bentley states when new the compression should read 11-13 bar and the wear limit is 7.5bar (with engine at 30 degrees F?) This was with the engine cold - the figures should be lower for a cold engine as its not at tolerance temp? So it looks like the compression is very good!? I'm a little puzzled as I would expect it to be a bit down since going by the state of the head bolts the head has never been off in its 110k life. So I guess my problem MUST bethe injectors or some other chain in the fueling system? I suppose it could still be a poor spark but it looks damn good to me when I use a spare plug on a dangling lead.
-
I addressed my concerns to dubpower, this is their response: They offered me a refund if I want to return the leads.
-
Try reaching the end of the lead on a standard plug on cylinders 4 and 6 to pull the lead out.....not going to happen. The dubpower ones are only about 15mm longer in the rubber above the lead end, not long enough IMO to reach without pliers. They mention in the leaflet supplied to use pliers on the end! I can only just get a big set of long nose pliers on the rubber bit and because the ends fit snugly on the plug have to clamp pretty hard. Apart from this flaw the leads are of very good design and very good quality - the ends are a very solid fit on the plugs (if you can get them on in situ!!!!) and dizzy connection is a good fit. EDIT - I'll take a pic tonight for you
-
Dunno will probs be a pound or so cheaper if at all. The leads are the same except ones for dizzy cars are slightly longer and you will get a redundant king lead.
-
Theres even a note included in the packaging to say they won't work with lead tools. No mention of this on the website. I think you'd get no noticable performance benefit on a standard car - the advantage is these are silicon so I thought they would be a little more flexible and last longer (i.e. wont go hard like normal and inflexible ones do after a few years).
-
got the dub power leads and fitted. What can I say they are leads! and fitting them confirmed my missfire is not down to my old leads..... The only issue is that they do not work with the lead removal tools - they have an "extented lead pull" i.e. the rubber end extends up the lead a bit. this makes them more difficult to install and remove than the usual method of using the lead tool. the "extended lead pull" is not quite long enough...... Hence I wouldn't buy them again for a standard car, I'd go for the VW spares ones. Although it depends how often you are going to pull your leads I guess - I will probably be doing it a lot until my missfire is fixed so they are going to get annoying.

Right slavvered the lot in my girlfriends vaseline. One side has popped in but the other and middle ones still won't budge, will give it a go again tomorrow! Its scary how much force i need to use really! I'm half hoping the problem is elsewhere so I don't have to take them apart again....lol. Oh yeah while they were apart I measured their reistance, they measured around 17 ohms each, saccording to the bentley they should measure 15-21.

hummm how the hell do i get the injectors back in!!!!! i removed them by pulling the fuel rail off, the injectors remained in the head, had to pull em out. How do i get the thing reassembled? I have fuel rail with injectors secured with tabs, but i cannot push the injectors back in! they are lubed up and i cleaned up the injector seats but when i push them in the fuel rail tabs just go upto the head! any tips? special lube? lol

Leads from: http://www.vwspares.co.uk/corrado_electrical.php are apparently OEM ones with the correct ends despite the low price! I just bought a set of dubpower 7mm leads from http://dubpower.co.uk/VR6%20parts.HTM (you need to email em to order) as they came in slightly cheaper delivered. Will report back when I've fitted em. Don't get Eurocarparts or GSF 40 quid ones they are not as high quality.

Could be a rear wheel sensor ring loose omn the disc too if its intermittent. You need to get it on VAGCOM really as if the light is on then it must be throwing an error code.

Has anyone any experience with corrados and seat surgeons of York? The guys on Bri-skoda are all going nuts over them, a new leather retrim in your choice of colours and stiching inc seats and door cards for £760 compares extremely well with the price of original leather (500-700). Apparently they are stuiched up in China and fitted in York. http://www.briskoda.net/forums/fabia/ju ... ons/81728/ I wonder if they will do the same deal for a corrado?
