  1. You can also get half-leather on German models, which has the advantage that it wears better than cloth and you don't stick to it in warm weather. If you're going for full leather, make sure you also get aircon if you plan to drive it during the summer...
  2. I'll second Bean's comments. Cold Greenstuff pads can be scary Pagid FR pads have lots of bite and are fade-free, but they do make quite a bit of dust. On the topic of the original post, I think old fluid is more likely as the cause - you have to get standard pads REALLY hot before they fade to the degree described.
  3. Just out of interest - based on a post earlier in this thread - a VR6 with Shrick VGI etc will embarrass a scooby away from the lights to 60 purely due to when you have to change gear (cos you can spin the wheels in 2nd... )
  4. How about a nice set of OZ Polaris? I have a set that have just had a refurb...
  5. ...no waterproof membranes on the doors - whatsoever...
  6. The last 3 cost less than 2/3rds of the 1st one...
  7. Following an extensive programme of back to back testing, I can reveal the following: Standard G60 vs. standard VR6 - the G60 is impressive, but it's toast in a straight line (the VR6 sounds better too...); G60 with SNS chip and 68mm pulley vs. standard VR6 - the vr6 is in trouble. It all comes down to what sort of noise you like from the engine; Any G60 vs. VR6 with Shrick VGI - the G60 is in serious trouble. In addition to the above, the suspension and steering changes that the VR6 has means it goes round corners just a little bit better, and gives more feedback while doing it. The G60 feels like a very good FWD car - the VR6 moves the whole game on some. The above is not terribly scientific, but was a lot of fun to research... :D
  8. Very few cars have non-standard seats due to how low you have to mount them to get them into a Corrado. Why not just get your standard pnes recovered?
  9. Not really. There was a rather confused change-over period though in mid 1991 whrwe it was possible to get early interiors, bumpers and lights with late bonnets and wings. BTW, why did you have the sunroof open on a trackday?

    front fogs

Pop the front indicators out (they just lever out) then the mounting screws will be visible.
  11. Hey Darren, it lloks like you and Pete could be getting a lot of business - the rebuild interval for chargers with all those 65mm pulleys must be tiny... :D
  12. Drat - only a 338 mile round trip. No popadums... :(
  13. ECP are the agents for Bilstein in the UK. The dampers are just a bit too stiff in my experience, but the springs (Terra) are allegedly the same rate as standard - only lowered. Can't comment on their standard spec items as I've not tried them.
  14. I can only drive one of them at a time, plus I'm only 10 miles from work so the petrol bill is negligible compared to the 750 miles a week I used to do before changing jobs at the end of 2002 (just think - an annual service every 10 weeks...) Okay. The 2 VR6 and the 16v are all on the same policy. Fully comp with Liverpool Victoria for less than £1k all in. I was actually looking for a G60 when I found the Black VR6 last year. It will be up for grabs shortly. At 215bhp in current trim it shouldn't be a hard sell... :D
  15. No, but I know the person who built the engines of both cars....
  16. Don't know - what colour was the one in PVW?

    20V G60

Had a ride in a Rallye equipped with one of these today. Bonkers...
  18. I definitely have a problem...

    rust

First, respray the wings - the bonnet is galvanised so is less rust prone. Then move somewhere warmer where they don't salt the roads so enthusiastically... :)
  20. If the water temp is regularly going over 100 (and staying there on thr motorway), check fot coolant leaks - especially around the thermostat housing on the rhs of the engine when viewed from the front.
  21. AMD gas-flowed throttlebody uses a larger butterfy. They also replace the shaft seals. It does make a noticeable difference - you use less throttle for the same effect. The black VR6 has a Shrick, throttlebody and AMD remap. It made 215bhp@5600rpm and 207lbft@3600rpm at AMD on Saturday. The torque figure was over 200lbft from 3300-5800rpm. The original peak figure for this car was 191lbft at 4400rpm. I'm going to enjoy beating up the TTs at work...
  22. The top mounts used on all late model Corrados are the same and cost a lot less than those used by early cars.
  23. 205/40/17 will be closest to the old size (thereby keeping the speedo accuracy within tolerance). Different makes of tyre do a better job of protecting them. Pirellis seem to be okay based on personal experience.
  24. Low G, You missed a bit...
