161k on one of them - 128k on the other. Motorway miles though, so contant revs.

Thermostat housing.....headgasket....valve stem wear....

The smaller the ET number, the closer the mounting face is to the centre-line of the wheel. For a given wheel width, a lower number will mean that the wheel will stick out more. ET15 may foul the arches...

The front wings also differ between early and late cars (late model are wider) and do the bumpers.

Ive been offered a G60 pretty cheap, need some help??
Mike Edwards replied to Gabbastard's topic in Archive
If the charger hasn't been servicesd (documentary evidence required...) in the last 20k miles, budget for a rebuild (~£350-£400). Otherwise, putting it back together is the same as any other VW. -
"...sikfelx..."??

A dummy breather hose heater. In some markets there is an electrically powered heating element fitted there. This item fills the gap in the plumbing and provides soemwhere for the plug on the loom to sit.

No you don't... If you've removed the 2 chromed levers at the rear of the mechanism on each side, these are what holds the roof panel down when it slides forward (hence their name on ETKA - "Locking Segment"). As such, it's not really surprising that the sunroof panel is now scratched to buggery. What was you roof doing before you removed these?

Ah? Darren - has the package finally arrived? :D

I had the injectors on the blue VR6 serviced last year. The garage's comment was that the filters were so badly bunged up that they were dribbling rather than spraying fuel. Injector cleaner wouldn't help, as it was sediment from the tank that was cloggin them up. The lesson is - when was the fuel filter last changed on your car?

GPC. £60. Pain in the wotsits if the car is lowered more than 40mm...

BACK FROM THE RESPRA!! MAN THERE QUICK!!! G60DAN STYLE

I will have a repairable early front bumper skin going spare in 2 weeks. It's currently black... -
Buy yourself the 288mm brakes off a mk3 Golf from a scrappy. Twice the pad area = noticeable improvements in stopping. You may need non-standard wheels to fit them though...

In which case, what am I bid for the Shrick VGI, gas-flowed throttlebody, all vacuum gubbins and ECU on my black VR6? This would be in exchange for your existing ECU and throttlebody (I have the manifold and cover waiting to go on). If anyone is interested, I can post details of the torque curve ("...a Geoff special..." Scott, AMD, March 2004 VWCCGB Rolling Road Day) on this 215bhp beastie.

psykokid - the roads must be smooooth were you drive... On the progressive springs topic mentioned earlier in this thread: The standard springs on a C are progressive rate items. This is achieved by reducing the diameter of the spring at one end while keeping the pitch of the spring constant. The change in the pitch of the coils found on lowering springs are not progressive - they are a completely different spring rate designed to be fully compressed when the weight of the car is on them so that the car sits lower.

Front engine mount gone! Nice egg in bonnet! Now fixed :-)
Mike Edwards replied to stormseeker's topic in Engine Bay
Looks like the bolt has sheared - probably the mount has compressed over time with the result that the head of the bolt was taking a beating everytime you used the loud pedal. Judging by the rust round 3/4 of the bolt hole, it had been "hanging by a thread" for some time. A standard VR6 front mount will have had it by the time the car has done ~30k miles. The effect of age will not have helped. If you don't know the history of the mount on your car, change it. -
For mind-boggling cheap Chargers, search on eBay for "G Lader" available to UK. In the meantime: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... gory=61372

He does say that he'll only ship within Germany though...
-
There are complete G60 G-laders available inGermany for as little as £40 it seems  - Germany only though... :(
-
For Darren does good things at very reasonable prices... :D
-
Quite possibly, but for the fact that none of the others (running standard/Pagid FR/Brembo pads) have the same problem.
-
They're generally okay, but have caught me out on cold wet days. Pulling off the motorway on to the slip road and finding that nothing happens for a second or so is "quite exciting".
-
Cheers Kev - things seemed to be getting a little heated... BTW, have you ever tried a rally tuned Lotus Sunbeam? Wheelspin in the 1st 4 gears on tarmac despite reving it to the redline in each gear!

Driver's door on the G60. It had been "repaired" at some point and the chimps that did it clearly didn't feel it was important (along with most of the fixings on the wings, bumper, spoiler and wheelarch liners....)
