looking fab matey, what have you painted the cross member and rad support with? thought you would have had them powder coated or something! Also a very silly question, what do the bushes attach to? i didn't realise they were any there. I should know better but i'm better at cleaning than taking them apart and if you dont ask you dont know Lol! Ps, Cant your lady come up to yours to help you ;) -
Jude here... What about hot start problems when the engine turns and turns but wont fire up? Kips 8v has had a few more instances of refusing to start. I thought I had cracked it thinking it was an immobiliser thing as when it wouldn't fire up, on arming and un-arming it would then fire up first time. However, on a trip back from Bristol when I had borrowed the silver one (mine was bent) I stopped 1 mile from home to get milk after a 200 mile journey and the thing wouldn't fire up. Locked it and un-locked it a few times to no avail. I left it where it was, got a lift home (luckily a neighbour had just pulled up for petrol) and told Kip I had abandoned his car. Had tea and an hour later it fired up first time. What's all that about then???

Hi Mate, yeah it did cross my mind when they came in the shop about 10 years ago trying to get us to stock them but never actually got round to it. Doh! Did you get the agreed value sorted?
-
Lol! you are not wrong there mate :cuckoo: but they laugh and enjoy takin the mic out of us and they are all really nice people, really get along with them :) I cant tell you how good it is to drive and as you've sampled Judes you probably know what i mean. So how's yours coming on then? Be good to meet up sometime if you fancy stopping by!

Vaughan, With this one the seal around the screen kept popping out as it'd had a screen recently, however because the previous owner was selling on soon they didn't do anything to treat the rust underneath where the screen sits. So i asked if my body shop guy could get in between the screen and the A pillars to grind out what was visable which they did they then treated the ground back metal then re-painted it and refitted the seal. It looked all well and good before he stuck the seal back in and said it'll keep it at bay for a couple of years or untill i need a new screen, if that becomes the case then ill have the the screen lifted out then let them attack what could be underneath before replacing the screen. Ill forward you some good pics of what was done to judith's storm in the summer! it'll make you do the same as she had to do and its exactly what K1PVW is going to have done soon too as there is a little bit around the seal that needs sorting. PM me your email addy for the pics ;)

Am Very good thanks mate and hope to have a chat somewhere in the summer
-
Cheers Pete, to be honest it's really nice having the 8v as a daily as so far its not looking like its going to cost much to keep running, Just bought some new dampers for it too so cant wait to get those on and see how it feels as i'm sure its running the original (shafted) ones!
-
Not sure you could afford it dude  Just dont think I could ever sell it now mate, its like welded to him and he wont hand it back

Looking good pete, wish i'd got the guts to do this kinda thing to mine! must be really satisfying seeeing all these bits going on by yourself and knowing they've all been fitted correctly. -

Anyone else laying the Rado up for the winter?
KIPVW replied to Sonicriot13's topic in General Car Chat
Well i hope there's no side effects :pale: but I wont leave it for so long again, i just feel its better just to fire it up for a few seconds to pump the oil around the engine. -

Yeah I once left it for almost 6 months unstarted and then i drained all the oil out re-fitted the plug and poured it all back in to flow all over the the mechanicals but it sounded like a bag o nails for a second or two so i prefer to just fire it up for 30 or so secs now! :) And yep always park it with the hand brake off, Just dont tell judith that Lol! -

As said before i'd probably look to do the work a month or so before you intend to use it as then the disc's wont rust up and so on, but it depends how you store it as there are a few options you may consider. Firstly get yourself a trickle charger from airflow as these work a treat and both me and Judith use them on our VR's over winter. Second, it pays to cover the car up too even if the bodywork may not be pristine a cover keeps off a lot of moisture and dust, Netto's had some in their stores last week for £10 and i use one of these too! I'd also inflate the tyres by an extra 5 psi and keep them topped up to this but stick a piece of paper over your dash to remind you you need to deflate them before you drive it off anywhere. I like to start mine once a month to keep the oil moving around the engine but i only run it for a minute or so so it doessn't even get warm as getting the temp up could leave condensation where you dont really want to. But there are so many choices its hard to know what to do so i guess it's a personal thing on what you think may be best and dont really take any suggestions as gospel, it's your car so do as you wish. Enjoy doing the brakes! I really liked doing mine and Judiths a short while ago, very satisfactory job indeed! Just not sure if i dare tackle the clutch and the chains on mine now :pale: -
Hi All, Anyone who wants a car cover for a silly amount of £10 get yourself down to your nearest Netto Now as they are in the shops from today! Waterproof, breathable and fleecy lined. Find your local store on their website too. Please remember that they are a slightly oversize fit bot with a little needlewory on the back end they're spot on. I accept no responsability should anyone use one and find it damages their car  I use mine in the garage by the way and works a treat to keep the dust out and the wax looking like it was applied yesterday.

Well A few little issues with the Satin so thought it best to get them sorted so here are a few pics of before and during, and hopefully they'll be some of the finished article early next week  It all started whilst i was replacing the rear number plate panel which was broken so i ordered a new one which will be fitted to K1 PVW and the one off there will go onto the Silver one  I knew it was a little rough around the number plate light so wasn't shocked to see what was underneath it. richard my bodyshop man took to it with the grinder to get rid of the bad stuff then metal filled it today, and it will then be smoothed back before painting next week!
