  1. oddly enough it looks like it could have come out the factory like that!
  2. No as its down to cylinder sealing, bolts dont do a thing there, its removal of head, valves cut and ground, pistons out and bore with new pistons and rings mate...but as i said 150 is still good for a vr.
  3. 150 is a little low but should not cause any poor runnings, the cr for the vr is around 160-180.
  4. cut the screen out with removal tool right round the screen besides the bottom, stick your head on the screen on the inside to lever it out and use a stanley blade to slice the lower part of the seal from the inside. I had a new screen to go in so i pushed it to the point it broke....the quater glass is a hole new ball game :brickwall:
  5. yea the glass removal was a pain in the backside but besides having it sparyed correctly i wanted to make sure there was no rust and im glad to say there was non :D Cheers Pete, yea not long now...i hope and then the task of reassembling which im looking forward to doing
  6. yea always use a high gear like 3rd keep it around 1500-2500rpm.
  7. whip the bumper off mate,it will be quicker than pulling the engine to bits!
  8. no you will need to pull the cams out to remove the hydraulics which just lift out with a magnetic pen, only other option is to tow start it this has worked many times for me,but make sure its 100% timed up correctly.
  9. just reading your posts again, you say it cranks over with no resistance? but the valves dont move? So you have no compression,i would pull the belt off and then pull out the cams, pain i know but then crank it over,it should sound like normal as the cylinders are sealed. Also the hydrolics sound like they are full of oil and wont compress hence your valves slightly open and you have no compression....drain all the hydraulics off by putting them in the vise, pushing the centre of the underside of the hydraulic nice and slowly, use a cloth not to damage the hydraulics...then reassemble. Try that mate.
  10. is the top end full of oil? crank it over with the rocker cover off and see if oil is running past the cam caps, spark plugs wet,do you have spark? does the engine sound like it has compression? im just going to roll off question after question mate so i can figure it out if thats ok with you?
  11. not been doing much bar tinkering... randoms from work... Engine has not been ran for months now.... :(
  12. Im sure they will become free with more and more wd40 :)
  13. very nice! i do miss my daily corrado valver!
  14. He did say he can hear the control unit clicking when the switch was pressed so i assume its working ?
  15. I would suspect the motor is dying or more the case the wiper spindles are sized from standing, pull off the linkage from the motor, move the wiper arms by hand...are they free? Set the motor away without the wiper linkages attached....does the motor vary in speed when switched from slow to fast?
  16. its very unlikely all the hydraulics are not working, most of the time when building a new motor with fresh or drained hydraulics they do not fully lift until oil pressure is archived, have you got oil pressure? are the plugs wet or dry after cranking? Does the engine "cough" at all when turning it over? Is the engine timed up correctly?
  17. there are two wire that go to the motor, when you pull the door card off you will see them, disconnect them and put a multimeter across the two wires leading from the car wiring,it should read what ever your battery voltage would be, around 12-14volts when the switch is worked,it reverses voltage when it goes the opposite direction when you press the switch the opposite as before. If you have the voltage there it will be the motor,if no power then it will be the wiring or control until situated behind the drivers side passenger panel trim.
  18. I tried autoglass but was told dealer only.
  19. sorry did not see the link, but look at these two pics and determine which one it is mate.
  20. I drove a MK2 VR6 without PS and it was so heavy at low speeds and parking you have to ask yourself why?
