  1. Well going into uni today I bottomed out in the middle... so I definitely can't go any lower at the front. So yeah I think I'll raise it about 10mm at the back so the gap is the same as the front 8) When I've got some more money I'll get the rust sorted on the rear arch and at the same time get the arches rolled - then I can space the wheels out a bit more, and possibly drop it down again :) Red=Fast, looks sweet, but a bit difficult to actually see how low it is because you have black wheels. Also while I'm here, since lowering the car more, my cars started creaking and clunking a lot... is this normal? can I do anything about it? Cheers guys, more pics will follow soon :D
  2. Now that the good weather is starting to come around, I've decided to finally fit my BBS RC's I purchaced from Jay a while ago. Luckily I already fitted konigsport coilovers in preparation for this.. and now its just a matter of working out the best looking ride height. The picture attached is how the car looks at the moment.. I've lowered it as far as it can go at the back.. and then done the front just till it looked right. However I think the back might be too low... opinions? I like low ride heights, but the way the rear wheel gets pushed forward the more you lower it I think looks wrong... I wanna get it looking just right before I get the tracking etc done. Cheers, Chris High Res Photo - 1.83MB
  3. replacing the serpentine belt (is that its name?) isn't a bit job... shouldn't take stealth more than 30mins :)
  4. You might be able to get them from bahn brenner in america...? http://www.bahnbrenner.com/ Let us know if you do, because I'd prefer to rebuild my own supercharger next time too
  5. might be worth having a look for oil elsewhere.. in the charger outlet pipe etc. and for even greater piece of mind, crack the charger open and see what kind of condition its in? Should be ok after 10k... but Jabba have been known to cut corners on their charger rebuilds (note - not my own experience, just what I've read  )
  6. Oil in the airbox doesn't sound healthy... has your charger been checked out recently? The Droning noise is normal when the airbox silencer thing has been removed For the boost return mod, you should: blank off the open side of the charger (either with a plate, or fit another air filter there somehow) Fit a small breather filter to the end of the ISV - stops an oily mist from being sprayed in your engine bay and for the breather ontop of the rocker cover, attach a long piece of pipe, and feed that into an oil catch tank (or just under the car out of harms way) Job done :)
  7. Found the various ratio's on Vortex. Max Speeds are calculated using 205/45/16 tyres @ 6500rpm G60 ATA Box: 1: ----- 3.778:1 - 32mph 2: ----- 2.105:1 - 58mph 3: ----- 1.345:1 - 91mph 4: ----- 0.971:1 - 126mph 5: ----- 0.795:1 - 154mph Final: - 3.684:1 G60 AYL Box: 1: ----- 3.778:1 - 32mph 2: ----- 2.118:1 - 58mph 3: ----- 1.429:1 - 86mph 4: ----- 1.029:1 - 119mph 5: ----- 0.837:1 - 146mph Final: - 3.684:1 G60 CAW Box: 1: ----- 3.770:1 - 33mph 2: ----- 2.118:1 - 58mph 3: ----- 1.458:1 - 85mph 4: ----- 1.034:1 - 119mph 5: ----- 0.838:1 - 147mph Final: - 3.647:1 Am I right in thinking that with a '91 G60 I'd have the AYL Box? Edit: Just realised that this'll be for the US spec G60's... do the UK G60's have the same gearboxes?
  8. ok how about gear ratio's? I can probs work out the speed from them?
  9. Anyone know what the top speed achievable in each gear is on the G60? Just out of interest :) Cheers, Chris
  10. the baton idea seems popular, I'll give that a go :) Thanks for the advice guys, I've been meaning to do this for a while, but didn't think any adhesives would actually stay stuck with all the vibration... but evidently they do! :) Cheers, Chris
  11. At the moment I'm trying to work out what would be the best way to secure an MDF base board to the boot floor for a sub box and amp to be attached to...? Minimum rattling is the main aim here, so I'm looking for something nice and sturdy. My idea was to weld four bolts to the floor, then have a thick rubber washer on each which the MDF would sit on top of, before being tightly held down with large nuts :) Problem with that idea however is that the fuel tank is right underneith the floor meaning welding would be dangerous without removing it... which I don't really want to do. This same problem means that drilling is out the question. So what have other people done that works? or will I just need to remove the fuel tank in order to get this job done properly? Cheers, Chris
  12. on early G60's there's a brake cooling duct going from the front bumper to the wheel arch. If you take this off and cut in half then you can attach tubing to this, and direct the airflow upward, through the Carbon Canister hole and into the airbox 8) I posted a pic on this thread: http://the-corrado.net/.archive/forum/viewtopic.php?t=21127
  13. was it the Golf Mk3 GTi 8v or 16v gearbox that was a direct replacement? or are they both the same?
  14. Looks nice - a lot nicer in those pics than I though it did before, must be a lot nicer owning a car that isn't 15 odd years old  How you liking it? not yearning for a corrado again yet? :)
  15. Mines got 150k on and still going strong... its the bodywork I have to attend to :(
  16. And a Supersprint De-Cat:
  17. You can get the regular RK's in 4x100 as that's what I have on mine atm.. and personally I don't like them. Don't think the Superturismo's would suit the corrado, however the AEZ paron's do, as can be seen by G60Dan's car
  18. Really I just want your leather interior and FMIC... but instead of just buying these parts seperately I think a far more cunning plan is in order
  19. I have myself a potentially stupid/costly idea to increase the spec of my car... but the success of the idea would depend on how well G60's are actually selling atm? Seeing Jim's car for sale got me thinking ... If I were to buy his car, then I could swap parts from my car over to his to increase the overall spec (namely alloys, coilovers, supercharger etc.) or vice versa, and then I'd end up with 2 corrados. One high spec one (that I'd keep) and then one not so good one that I'd try sell :-P The major floor with this plan is that the lower spec corrado I'd be left with, would most likely be: 150,000 miles, in need of a supercharger rebuild, have some rust on the bodywork and no leather interior  How much du think it would be worth? And even at a reasonable price, would it sell? I think its a great plan
  20. I used some "Marley Semi Rigid Hose" available from B&Q for my ducting.. worked a treat 8)
  21. I have more petrol when I brake and less when I accelerate apparently  ... it would be nice to know how much fuel I actually have.. I also don't understand the reason for having the half way mark not at half way? I have the early 12 gallon tank... with 7 as the half way.. crazy germans!
  22. Will look sweet when lowered 8)
