  1. I've always liked this car, and as others have said, it just gets better and better, hope to see it in the flesh one day. Reminds me of Asim's old motor, that was moonlight blue on splits. Nice work Chris 8)
  2. Ok so here's how I intend to lay everything out give or take, the header tank hose won't go over the top of the airbox like that though! It somehow looks really untidy in the pics, but in the flesh it looks much more factory. Corrado92.pdfIMAG0330.jpg[/attachment:1da29bwa] The airbox is ending up in roughly the right place but isn't ideal, it sits a bit too high really but it looks much better in the flesh than it does in the pics, I might slice some of the bottom half off it to git it further down. The washer bottle sits spot on, you can see where the spigot on the bottom of the bottle locates into the hole in the chassis, now I've just got to re-route the washer jet lines. passat climatronic wiring diags.pdfIMAG0325.jpg[/attachment:1da29bwa]climatronic wiring-Golf from May 01.pdfIMAG0326.jpg[/attachment:1da29bwa] The PAS bottle wil fit in there a treat also, there's a little bracket mounted just under the battery against the chassis leg that holds the PAS hoses in line, I'm just going to weld my seat Ibiza pas bracket to this one and job done, all the hose outlets lie in the right orientation too which is cool.IMAG0327.jpg[/attachment:1da29bwa] 2.8l 24v Climatronic system.pdfIMAG0329.jpg[/attachment:1da29bwa]
  3. Ha ha cheers Pete, and thanks for the help the other day!!, well if the snow is bad tonight I won't be commuting up the M3, so it might be car time!! However I'm off to do it now 8) The lambda's were already labelled! I really don't think enough heat will be getting to the rack, but if it does, I think I'll make a popper jacket rather than wrapping it to make aceess to it easier. C488ADO, I know what you mean about the wires, that's how most cars are done, but I've used thick ally sheet (just for ease really) which doesn't really lend itself easily to hooking the wires in, but I could drill and tap some p clip type things I suppose for the trimmers to use. Still, I'm still struggling with the recliner brake at the moment.....thanks for the suggestions!! :D
  4. Hi, Just curious, as I'll have to insure my Corrado 3.2 soon, I've always gone with Brentacre before for one main reason, when i phone up, I get to talk to one of just three of four people but usually Kerry, so if ever there is a problem i get to talk to the same person each and every time and it gets sorted quickly. I also don't get put on hold for hours on end when I phone up during my lunch break (HIC :censored: ) and their quotes are always competitive (but always open to fresh quotes!) How many people do you have dealing with customers? How long is your average caller on hold time if at all (not for sales!) This is the first time i'll have my Corrado as a second car, I have 7 years NC currently on my daily, an Arosa 1.0 for my sins :D Do you do any deals for 2 cars or do I just insure both seperately? Can I split my NC between the two?
  5. Yeah I like the first one too, it portrays the image you get walking back to the car just after you've finished work that says 'you're going to have a fun drive home' :D
  6. It's a shame that Merc are the engine suppliers though, it's not like they are going to give the opposition their most up to date engines.
  7. Yeah it tidies everything up nicely, there's heat wrap underneath it.
  8. Cheers mate, I'm going to use the velcro in both those places, then all the side bolsters are glued in place. :) Thanks for the compliments guys :thumbleft: , had a really depressing day up there today- not much went to plan but it's nothing disasterous... A few good pics to come at the weekend I should think. :D it's moving out of the workshop into my old man's garage for a bit...
  9. Been working on the Corrado  for the past couple of days with help from Pete Griff yesterday, just finishing off a lot of stuff. Put the rear 280mm discs on, finished plumbing them all up, now I've just got to bleed them, not sure if the grooves are going the right way, couldn't remember which way they are supposed to go :D . Heat wrapped the exhaust manifold up and installed the Jetex exhasut, and went round the car torquing all the bolts up to the correct level. Meanwhile Jon built up the driveshafts and put them on and put the flter housing together. I've got to make a special T-piece to go on the filter head to accomodate the high and low pressure switches, they both need to sit side by side parallel with the filter. Still got to drain the gearbox and pas fluids, and then refill with new stuff after I make up a pas bottle bracket from the Seat bits I have. Still need to get a fan controller from Crazy Dave and sort out the fan wiring. Bracket needs to be made to relocate the washer bottle. Put the dash back in and waxoyl the inside of the car. Then rad and slam panel etc......... Sorry for the bad quality pics, phone camera and bad lighting.... :) stromlaufplan_gamma4.pdfIMAG0304.jpg[/attachment:i0u1l1eq]Corrado92.pdfIMAG0302.jpg[/attachment:i0u1l1eq]passat climatronic wiring diags.pdfIMAG0301.jpg[/attachment:i0u1l1eq]climatronic wiring-Golf from May 01.pdfIMAG0314.jpg[/attachment:i0u1l1eq]2.8l 24v Climatronic system.pdfIMAG0311.jpg[/attachment:i0u1l1eq]IMAG0307.jpg[/attachment:i0u1l1eq]

    r32 stat and fans

Personally if the rest of the car is standard, I'd leave it all as it is, the low temp stats don't actually improve the car they make things worse. The best thing you could do is make sure the rad is in good condition, and make sure the whole system is flushed through thoroughly and working as it should.
  11. Nice car Karl:D I bought my wife a 330i sport tourer in the spring, I love the sound it makes, and if you nanny it you can get 39mpg on a run!! It's not all that quick to be honest though, heavy cars these beemers. Water pumps are prone to going on 330i engines btw.

    Lightening a corrado

Erm, probably not very easily, but worth a try!

    Lightening a corrado

    1. Buy some lexan FMR (scratch resistant film over polycarbonate) the same thickness as the glass. 2. Get the glass and scribe around it onto the lexan with 10mm extra around the perimeter. 3. Find someone with an oven big enough to fit the glass panels in. (you'll have to find out how much heat you need as i can't remember) 4. Place the (super clean) glass on a horizontal surface and put the lexan panel over the top of it. 5. Heat it up in the oven until the lexan takes the same shape as the glass, but don't let it flop over the edges around the perimeter. 6 Wait for it to cool completely. 7 Scripe and cut around the glass again this time matching the two exactly. 8. Fit your much lighter window! PS Don't do the windscreen, it would get too scratched from the wipers, it's not as hard as glass, but on the rear screen is fine.

Take out the glass and replace it with LexanFMR, saves a fair bit of weight and you can't really notice the look of it (if you cut and form it correctly), other than it is louder.
  16. I don't really give a monkeys what people do to their cars, but if you do modify it with cheap tat and bodykits, then it'll just go to the breakers sooner rather than later. The more that get broken, the higher the value of those remaining :D I've just spent a lot of effort maintaining the one bit of a corrado that isn't easy to replace- the bodyshell. Engines and other bolt on mods can always be replaced but a repaired shell is always a niggling thought that it isn't 'as it used to be' which is what persuaded me to do it. My personal taste is that mods are ok so long as they are subtle or OEM+ (someone had to mention it!)
  17. I found that when replacing all the clips on the underside of mine, and the new style replacement clips for the heat shields are useless. Glad I'm not the only one!! It all looks great under there now though nice work :D , are you ever going to drive it on a rainy day ever again though!!
  18. I think you've over done the pressure a bit, the engine's gone. :help: Looks great :D
  19. I thought the finish and design of my Jetex was better than the Magnex i had on previously tbh, although the Magnex was still very good.
  20. Cool, you might be getting a call sometime, may or may not be soon though depending on the direction the company take... :D Basically they strip a vehicle down, to the chassis and bulkhead, then rebuild it with pressed/laser cut armoured panels, it would often help if the bits coming off and the chassis were scanned first.
  21. I'm interested in the scan of your front hub! A guy on here wants me to do make a pair of caliper carriers and that would really help me! Where i'm working at the moment (Jankel Armouring) they could really do with someone to do the scanning of chassis, body panels etc, are you mobile? PS, what file does it come in as, iges, step or is it surfaces?

    non PAS rack ?

Couldn't agree more, it's spot on for PAS, just the right amount of assistance. It's not like you would have huge benefits going over to a manual rack, maybe if it was a track only car.
  23. First thing is to check the easy stuff, whip off the petrol feed (next to the airbox) you'll see which one it is because there are arrows, and just see if petrol comes through when you turn on the ignition, if it doesn't you know it's pump/relay related. Then if it is, take out a spark plug and see if you have a spark, do the sensors last.
