  1. found out that somebody had prised off my rear vw badge. thieves. the one time I park my car outside our cabin up in the mountains, and some punk comes and steal it. im not sure if I should buy a new one or smooth stuff over in the back. that could look good, I think, but I ain't sure. opinions?
  2. Hi, my car had manual windows when it rolled out of the factory, but before I got the car, some fool had fitted some aftermarket electric ones, and they aren't really being reliable. so I thought of sourcing some second hand original systems (i.e. mechs and everything needed short of switches). How much of a job would it be putting these in there? is it harder because of the fact that mine was manual from the factory? cheers, kris.
  3. hi, just found out I had made a small wiring mistake. My new earth turned out to not be connected to the earth after all, as I removed it and it's still working. I'll get back to you
  4. today I just sat back and cried as my alternator feedback is still present after doing heaps of sh*t to stop it.
  5. okay, this means war: I took a full day off to fix this sonuvabitch, and guess what... it's still there. Well, I re-earthed my cd-deck to the center console (between a nut and a washer that's threaded onto a bolt which goes into the chassis methinks), and found a new earth point for the amp (the bolt you screw the back seat onto). I found that the rca's were a huge mess, and I tidied them up a little. I used golden terminals crimped on properly, an all new earth cable, and... I'm sure I've done some more stuff too. what more could it be? really pi$$ed off now because I've spent the entire last two days to get the stereo ready for a road trip, and now I got a 110 db whine and a thump every time I turn on the cd-player, mute it, change song, and turn it off. What should I do? I swear to god, I'm gonna break down and cry soon, if I can't get this to work!
  6. that I have done? um... cleaning the car? nah, it must the the removal of the boost return system. It makes the most wicked sound in history.
  7. today I mostly....: - collected and fitted my new sun roof switch. The sun roof now works as good as new! - Took out the lower rear seats for cleaning. Any good advice on how getting them as clean as possible? - Made an earth point for my stereo on the lower bolt that holds the 2/3 of the rear bench back. - Broke off the upper bolt when re-tightening the bolts after removing these to make the earth point. Can I replace this? Broke clean off :( - Got a long way on my boot build. From thinking of a full fiberglass mould, I've gone a little better (and easier) way with 19mm MDF. Full pic overview will come whenever I get my nutsack together. - Inhaled and getting a buzz off of MDF dust. - Re-wired and re-sorted the stereo wiring. Still need to do it over again, but at least now I got real terminals, long enough RCAs and a solid earth. - sat back, took a deep breath and smiled proudly over what I've accomplished in only two days. Except the cumbersome fiberglass filler applying, i'm almost finished. Just need to make a nice little cover out of 9mm MDF, cut out two more pieces out of 19mm MDF and integrate a subwoofer enclosure into the design. Should be done within the month, perhaps within two thinking of all the stuff I got going. so, just sit back and admire my work. when i'm finally finished

    Wiper stalk.....

I went to the stealers, I didn't ask for the cowling, but the stalks were £67 each. I hate the stealers. does anyone have a set kicking around? these would be the same lhd / rhd right?
  11. oh my god, an awesome motor you got there! don't get more mint than that! bumpers aren't impossible to get a hold off, though, if yours is knackered. sue the people that own the parking lot for the money  it ain't nothing like the american way! oh, and tell them you got a lot of psychological stress and nightmares from it, you'll soon be able to buy yourself a brand new corrado (as in buying the old factory, starting it up again for one day, and have yours made again!) :D
  12. i'd guess it needs to be reset or whatever, if it doesn't have it's own internal battery that is.
  13. looks nice, really want to test one of those once. Too bad they are so expensive, and the corrado looks just as good (if mint). :-P
  14. what the ****? how can scrap metal cost 1800gbp? must be hydraulic or something Just buy a garage jack and axle stands. Goes just as quick and is just as secure. And much easier!
  15. haha, thought you meant the corrado's front wheels... haha :D
  16. logicaltuning, even though haynes haven't made a guide for corrados yet, there is one available. search for corrado on amazon and get the big yellow bible as the rest of us. :D
  17. wow, I guess a plop of filler won't do then. Go screw! ;D
  18. mine's also a 1989. I'll check my vin the next time I'm outside. where is it?
  19. I also got the cda-9855, and I have nothing but good stuff to say about it. I still haven't figured out all the features yet, but it's awesome. you better have the ipod surface as well, though. You can get it with a color screen now as well though. I bought mine last spring. the becker looked awesome though, like it cost a lot of money. it looks like it's straight out of a porsche or something expensive. Could look wonderful in the corrado slightly outdated interior.
  20. I had to pretty much disassemble the whole mid section of the dash to re-earth my head unit to the chassis underneath the gear surround. I've now done this (removing the mid section incl. all acc., the instrument panel surround and glove box) three or four times, and last time it took me about half an hour putting everything together. Not bad, when I spent about four hours taking everything apart the first time. My electrics are hopeless.

    Wiper stalk.....

is it possible to do the early to late stalk conversion without busting a nu... I mean, without being an expert?
  22. I got horrible wind noise when the sun roof cover (the beige cover inside) was just 1-2 cm opened (mind, the sun roof was closed fully). closing that helped a lot ;)
  23. sounds like you got some water in through your air filter, or whatever. where is it placed? or do you have the original box?
