its actually called a W8, they have the 4motion system in too, really nice as they are fully loaded with all the extras, i was going to get one a while ago when i considered selling the Corrado.
-
havent been good to me, or at least the parts Dept, still waiting on my front subframe which was ordered WAY before christmas, no phone call nothing. Petersfield VW is even worse, if your car is over 5 years old they couldnt give a toss about you. Only VW garage i use now is Coopers VW in Chichester. Top people who are always there to help. may be something to do with me spending nearly 3K on parts for the G60 in the last 2 months....
-
yeah i may have to switch, dont know if my BBM will flow enough air for my engine TBH....
-
yeah i agree, he is just trying to get something more from you. Stonechips-he viewed the car and bought it as seen, so surely he would have checked the panels for dents, scratches, stonechips etc and made an offer to suit? and bushes? so what? wear and tear item, he took it for a test drive and again looked around it, so should have noticed any faults. PLUS you offered to get it MOT'd and he refused, hard luck on him!

well i hope mine will be ok, as its going to be getting a hard time when its fitted to my 16vG60....if it decides to eat itself then get sucked into my brand new expensive engine i wont be best pleased, may invest in a rotrex....

didnt know this badger5 chap was still running around! cheers Darren

does anybody know where i can get some of the above extensions so i can fit my 305mm seat 4 pot setup onto my VR6 hubs ?? failing that does anybody have some measurements so i can get some made up ready before i start putting it all back together again ?
-
ive got a set of black diamond disks for a 16v and some pagid fast road pads if you wanted to buy them ? brand new of course...
-
from what ive read about some 16vs on here, they are even less economical than the vr6s, once my VR6 is warmed up i get between 28-31mpg, even if i give her some beans, whereas some valvers seem to struggle to get 25MPG...
-
flog the car and buy one with a vr6 in it. cheap to buy, nearly 200bhp, no faffing around and its a 6 cylinder! plus you can save up and turbo it for serious power in the future!
-
have to agree with the above comments, VR6 everytime, im enjoying my VR6 so much at the moment im thinking of dumping the 2.016vG60 and going with an R32 turbo, cant beat the sound of 6 cylinders! especially above 3000RPM, just a pity that its it those revs that it hits your wallet! mind you, 16vs arent good on petrol, but hats another debate..... GET THE VR!! :D

help gathering parts for OBDII conversion
G60SC_Stoney replied to G60SC_Stoney's topic in Engine Bay
yeah i was kind of hoping for an easier way to check without going and pulling the bonnet of each MK3 VR6 i come across  was there a ceartain year they changed from OBD1 to OBD2?? i.e 95 on? -
while i have no great need for my corrado VR6 at the moment, im going to get it converted to OBDII, now the list of bits needed is quite extensive so im hoping to find one car and take all the bits required from it, to save me hunting around various places. Question is, whats the easiest way to tell if the car will be OBDI or OBDII? did they change over at a certain reg number ??
-
cool, so it would just pay for me to replace the ignition components sometime in the near future. will look into that now.

i would like one please, can you send nme payment details ? -
yeah ive thought about the difference between OBDI and II and i cant see that the idle would be this rough, i mean its not terrible, but my VR6 Golf used to just hum on idle and sounded like a bee whereas my Corrado VR6 sounds more like my G60 with a lumpy cam sometimes! oh yeah i forgot to mention, it ticks over when fully warm at a smidge over 500RPM, the bottom of the needle is level with the top of the 500RPM marker, is this too low ?? maybe this is what is causing my lumpy idle ?
-
ok i started taking the lower trays off and the plastic housings around the steering column, and traced the wire back as far as i could, which was about 6 inches as its tied to the rest of the wiring!, untangled as much as possible and gave the wire a little pull, and tapped the transponder ring a few times with my hand, put the key in the ignition and wahay it works! But did run like a bag of sh*t for a bit, but i presume thats because ive been cranking it over and the engine not starting? i left it running for a few minutes and went back to how she ran before. I take it i dont need to go through any running in procedures now ive had all the fuses out? also how smooth does everyone else VR6 sound? mine is a 'little' tappy but nothing to worry about yet, but sometimes feels like it has an occasional misfire, and doesnt run anything like my VR6 Highline Golf used to on idle, that used to be really smooth, whereas my corrado seems to have the odd shudder like its mis-firing?
-
ah, thats my plan too, when/if i get bored of my 16vG60 im probably going to get involved in some turbo V6 action instead....
-
just come back from work, where the car is, checked all the fuses and they are all fine. im 99.9% sure its the transponder thingy. will get it all apart tommorrow and have a play with some WD40, may even be easier than that, but dont know until i have a look...
-
looking good mate, glad it went to someone who will care for it. Keep us posted!
-
well, ive got a 16vG60, because i got bored of a normal g60, and wanted more valves and now im not going to be driving that for a while ive got a VR6 too....
-
just ordered one from vw, but wont be there until sometime next week (38.00 inc VAT). ill take it, always good to have spares, and this seems to be a bit of a common problem with VRs from what ive read. While im at it, i dont suppose you have bits to do an OBDII conversion?? im thinking of giving the Toad a little project to do to earn some pocket money in the new year :D It would be helpful if you could pick up the transponder for me toad (and any other bits, while you are there) ill pay you for your time....
-
cool, ill try and wd40 it, but ill order a new one from the dealers as well. luckily i only broke down at work, and not miles away! i may give you a call later if i get stuck!
-
i know this is a common problem on these engines, and i have a pretty good idea of whats wrong. the car starts and cuts out straight away. so is an immobiliser fault, either the key needs recoding or the transponder has failed. but as neither of my two keys will start the car it must be the reciever. My question is, where is this transponder reciever and how easy is it to remove and refit? a guide with a piccy or two would be helpful... 8)
