if you need a bit of spare cash in the future, and want to sell the plate, let me know please....
-
well actually, i did go shopping for car wash clothes a while ago, and came back with a really soft fleece jumper, and a nice pair of jogging bottoms, pics of these will NOT be available! i do go through a process of making sure my pockets are empty and im not wearing my watch. last thing i want is to scratch the car! cheers mate, got one more layer of wax to put on, but im going to give it a few more days just to bed in. In the meantime ive got the soundproofing to go in and then the carpet, followed by the rest of the interior, lots to do, hopefully she'll be ready for E38!
-
No, and most probably also no! im thinking maybe mazda RX8 front seats, although im still to try the porsche boxster seats, so we'll see...
-
the engine is still in the engineers workshop until im ready for it, there wont be any pics of that until the whole car is together and running, i did initially want to keep the whole project under wraps, but im too much of a child to do that! should e fitting the carpet this week, or at least the soundproofingm then the interior should be going in
-
i also use that furniture clinic stuff on my leathers, the cleaner is amazing! and the conditioner is really good too, makes it feel really soft smooth.
-
new pics for you all, with a digital camera (maybe not the best digital camera, but a digital camera none the less!)
-
ok, maybe i am just being a bit of a twit, yes she will be cool, and i do love her to bits, even thogh she is spread between 2 garages 2 sheds and 2 bedrooms at the moment! the thing is i cant help thinking shes a bit of a mish mash of ideas, ive built (or have had someone build it for me) a tuned up 16VG60 that im hoping to get around the 300BHP mark from, and ive put a peloquin diff in the gearbox, and fiddling around with ARBs and polybushes etc, etc. so she will handle really well, and be rather quick, but then on the other hand ive spent 6.5k on a paint job and a futher 4k on wheels for it, nearly a grand on the interior (not including geeting some new front seats and retrimming them) and 300 pounds on carpet/soundproofing, plus all the other bits and pieces. So from what i can see ive created a fast car for shows?! im going to be worried to take the thing out on the roads incase i get a stone chip on the bonnet, so whats the point of having 300bhp and a Peloquin if im never going to actually need/use it ?? WHAT HAVE I DONE!!!??!!?? on a brighter note, ive just picked up my 5x100 g60 hubs from James, so that should solve my issue of fitting my wider 301s under the arches! :D oh and ive just put my camera batteries on charge so should take some (good) pictures tommorrow!
-
Ah stop teasing with the phone pics and get the camera out :D looks mint and agree with Goldie that its going to be in a different league. i dont know if it will be in a differnt league to be honest, i havent exactly bought anything new to the table, all ive done is resprayed the car a standard VW colour, plonked a tuned up 16vG60 engine in the front and put a TVR interior inside (which came out of another corrado anyway!) i need to find something inventive to do with my green VR6 outside next, somehow stick an Audi V8 in the back seats and get some RWD fun, now that would be cool!

yeah i had a dodgy sill on my one a few years ago, this was caused by an owful bodykit with some sideskirts on, when i could finally afford to get them taken off we discovered a rusty sill and had to weld a new plate in, not really a problem and ive just had the car properly checked over for any rust etc, when i had my car resprayed and its stopped it dead.
-
ive been told its called W*nkers wrist by someone at work  and Thank You she has had a layer of Dodo juice and i started to apply some of my Swissol best of show wax to her today. really bringing out the metallic fleks in her!
-
nope, but if you know this weeks winning numbers ill be happy to go 50/50! but to be fair the price is crazy high as there was some repair work we needed to do to it, which you dont see in the pictures, so i had that done to a high standard, it was nothing major but it did make the back bumper sit slightly off, but thats fixed now, also where filler was used it was mainly old school lead filler so shouldnt sink like most cars filling jobs do after a while, and i had a few things smoothed off. and the main objective was to get the paint as smooth as possible and create a lasting finish, not something that will start to crack and peel etc over time. So comes with their word they will take it back and re-do any jobs if i have any problems F.O.C. but i would have thought its going to get a stone chip or two and a few scratches on it at some point no doubt!
-
yeah, it was and still is Dark burgandy pearl, and the paint job was rather expensive to say the least, lets just say it was over 3 times more expensive than most peoples normal resprays....6500 pounds
-
ok ive just started applying some more wax to the car, so thought i'd take some more pics, unfortunatly my digital cameras batteries were dead, so ive had to use the phone again. The paint is soooo shiny, and there is no orange peel anywhere! it really is like glass!
-
think it was 14-15,000 last time it was up....
-
consider them sold, ill pm you to save clogging his thread up. i got my Brembo setup from E38 forum (i think) they are practically brand new, only a 1000 miles old!
-
oh right! well that would solve all my problems then! how much do you want for them? my 305mm disks are already re-drilled for 5x100 too so thats even better!
-
my leads made a considerable difference, im not sure whether it was due to going for the magnecor leads or not though, as i replaced the coil, plugs and fitted the 8.5mm magnecor leads at the same time, but she definatly picks upso much better than before, easily pulls all the way from 1.5k all the way round to 5.5-6k, and i really didnt expect the to do anything TBH!
-
It cost me around £600 for my bells and rotors, but some of that was due to me needing a rare size for my callipers. For 304mm 2 piece discs I would expect it to be around £500 to £550 even so (the bells are £75 ea, then there are the rotors to consider). As for a contact number they are on the web at http://www.bgdevelopments.co.uk/. cheers for that mate, will look into a good combo and see what they say! ive already got some VR6 hubs sitting in the shed, thanks anyway
-
yeah i put red ones on my Classic green one, and they are the big fat 8.5mm ones (great leads BTW!). i think your look with your rather cool looking inlet and cover on! keep em!
-
well, firstly i got the car back from being resprayed earlier this month, and the finish is lovely, the paint is sooooo flat its like a mirror, quite impressed by it, and ive been tidying it up even more and removing any scratch marks left by the bodyshop from when they wipe it down, so i had a really good base, and put a nice coating of various products on it to give it a good start! i took out any remaining bits of the interior this week and ripped up the carpet, which was going really mouldy where the heater matrix went ages ago, so now the car is a complete shell with not much in at all, so when its all dried out inside im going to put some soundproofing down and fit my new carpet, and then its time to fit the interior, which Ben will help me fit along with the MK4 heating system. Then im going to pull some more bits off and get them shotblasted back and re-painted or ill buy new ones, for example ive seen some very nice uprated driveshafts, that are all plated and shiny, but thats going to depend on whether i still have money to burn at that point... The only issue i have at the moment, is the brakes, id really like to keep the brembos are they are cheap and easy to get hold of parts for, and i already have them ready to go on, but they are causing a right ball ache to get them to fit on!
-
yeah getting a set of custom bells/rotors sounds like a good option, and i was strongly considering it, but i rear your thread and thought it was quiet expensive to get done. how much did the rotors and bells cost you exactly, and have you got a number for BG developments??
-
ive looked into the 323mm seat setup, which would clear the hub but would be too big as it will make contact with the nuts/bolts on the outside of the 3piece wheels, as brembo calipers are rather chunky in comparsion with AP's for example the VR6 hub conversion isnt an issue, ive got all the time in the world to do it, but need to make sure its done right the first time, as i dont want to start pulling te car to bits when i think its all finished
-
right, as some of you may know, im building a 16vg60, the car is now in the garage waiting for the interior to go in etc. But ive got an issue with my wheel/brake combo. I was intending on fitting some Brembo 4 pots with 305mm disks (cupra setup) on the G60 hubs and then use some 20mm 4x100>5x100 adapters to fit my BBS RS301s on with. problem with this is one of my sets of 301s has slightly wider lips bringing them out to around 8 inches wide, and poke past the arches by about 20mm (exactly the width of the adapter) so my second option was... Convert to 5 stud with VR6 hubs etc, etc, thus saving me the 20mm needed to fit the BBS under the arches and fit perfectly. That would be fine except that ive been in contact with Bill Brockbank and also had a look for myself and found that the Seat disks are inset and make contact with a part of the hub (the caliper mounting area) pic below: so they wont fit (unless i cut that part off, is that an option? and then fit the caliper spacers and fabricate some kind of spacer, then this may still not be possible) which brings me onto my thrid option, which is the only viable one, sell the Brembo setup and fit a VAG 312mm setup onto the VR6 hubs, but the issue then is whether the 312mm setup is man enough to stop a nigh on 300BHP Corrado? Or buy some slimmer calipers and proper disks (AP racing for example) and fit them onto the VR6 hubs, but then we are talking big bucks Thoughts please, and here are some more pics of the issue, sorry about the quality camera phone is rubbish... BBS (wider lips) sticking out using 4stud hubs and 20mm adapters: BBS (standard lips) fit fine using 4 stud hubs and 20mm adapters: and one for all you BBS fans (i know she needs lowering, but she doesnt have an engine in at the moment!)

i had roughly the same list a month ago when i ordered my bits from VW, you may also need a new sunroof seal, my list missed out the door seals as i bought some a while ago but came in just short of 1400... :( its an expensive game, but 2nd hand bits just wont do....
-
good to hear it mate! i told you she was a good engine...
