Nope 7.5 is fine.
-
May give a little more but not much. Fair bit lighter though. The VR's gearing is not suited to the 1/4 mile. 3.68 final drive will help.
-
Ok cheers Kev. I'll ask the question.
-
I could do but after 150ki ts probably best to renew them. I ve always been advised when changing cams to renew the followers. Just wondered if anyone has used these makes before.
-
I ve got a set of 264 which i'll be throwing in soon so going to change the followers as is recomended. I ve come across a guy on ebay who selling these very cheaply £65 for a set of 12 delivered!!!! Only question is will these be a load of balls? will be made by either luk or febi bilstein. Here's the link. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=120075193307&ru=http%3A%2F%2Fsearch.ebay.co.uk%3A80%2Fsearch%2Fsearch.dll%3Fcgiurl%3Dhttp%253A%252F%252Fcgi.ebay.co.uk%252Fws%252F%26fkr%3D1%26from%3DR8%26satitle%3D120075193307%26category0%3D%26fvi%3D1

Yeah took me half an hour to fit my VT front mount. The same again for the gearbox mount. Rear is a little more difficult so maybe hour (havent changed this one yet, but its next on the cards)

VR6 replaced head gasket. Now it sounds like a tractor

Cam slots should line up. Dont forget that the slots are off centre, so might have to rotate a few times to get it all lined up. Set to TDC using the markings under the rubber cover on the top of the gearbox. -
Horrible rattling, any clues? VR6, PROBLEM FOUND, NOT

^ yeah my main water pump made a nasty noise when it went, I thought at the time it was chain tensioner etc. Take the belt off and see if the noise is still there. -
Accel pedal is always stiff due to the spring set up. Fit a 2.8 throttle (or better still big bore 2.8 throttle) for a softer pedal.
-
Would also like to know this. Also whats best to use the metal ties or jubilee clips? Kad I ve had a look around and the cheapest I ve seen is on ebay.
-
What bore is your system? surely that has the most effect on back pressure?

I have the same with mine, although its still on the original clutch as far as i am aware @150k. I am pretty sure its the rear engine mount. I ve just fitted a vibratechnics comp front mount and a new gearbox mount. I now get very little movement using the accel pedal on/off but when I rush the change it tends to lurch. I am going to replace the rear mount as I ve done the rest hopefully this will cure the problem. If not I am having the chains and clutch done in a couple of months ....

Stealth Racing are highly recommended for a decent remap. Is it still running standard cams? if so get a set of cams in there something like 268's or 264's.
-
Has it been remaped with the above mods? I'd guess 210-220.
-
Fitted to the corrado storm and golf MKIII Highlines, (and colour concept?) as standard. they are 15"Diameter by 6.5"Width. if your GTi is 5 stud they will fit fine. As for cost depends on condition and tyres ect anything from £100-£250 I would guess.
-
Hard to say chap. best just to grab a tape measure and get a rough reading, what I ended up doing to mine just to make sure.
-
Easy to change 3 bolts one end, undo the lambda slip off the other end. I run one seems to give a little more in the upper rpm regions. o and it also doesnt stink when your heavy with the right foot.

Howdy! :rainbowafro:

The bulbs are clear. The gauges have an orange background/filter. You need to cut open the gauge and lightly sand the orange filter off, then just fit green bulbs or use green bulb/glass paint.

coming upto 150k. No problems and still producing the goods!
