Have you thought maybe about a rr session? As like you say you've replaced alot of parts and nothings showing on the vag com. That way you can see what the fueling and timing are up to. Just a suggestion. -
Using the US spec later 12v Inlet set up! Interesting!

Found this on ebay.de: http://cgi.ebay.de/VR6-Schaltsaugrohr-US-Modell-Schrick-VR-6-Turbo-R32_W0QQitemZ230025088973QQihZ013QQcategoryZ40187QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem Seems you can fit the later (MKIV golf) 12v inlet set up on to the original VR6 lump. Effectivly a cheap shrick/VSR? only downside is the throttle position, but it looks like it could be cut and re welded maybe?

Just need a new throttle body and upper inlet manifold gasket. Easy to replace nothing to worry about. Have you made sure its a corrado manifold as the golf/vento etc use a smaller manifold
-

There's a halfords in Bicester. Also a parts place called Cafco, might be worth a try. -
I brought all the timing gear off a guy on here. He sent the receipt with it which lists all the part numbers and prices, I could scan it and mail it over if you like?
-
Think the chains, tensioners, cam spokets etc come in at about £250. As for the head gasket I ve heard the metal MKIV is the one to go for not sure on price though.

Try forte Gas and/or forte Injector treatment its really good stuff supplied to the trade. You should be able to pick some up from most garages. I ve used both on mine and its done wonders.

-Removed the FK smoked/red rear lights and fitted my tinted red lights (much better IMO) -Fitted stainless door sills from germany. -fitted my black corrado and vr6 rear badges -painted the inside of the head lights -fitted a new cam position sensor and cleared fault code with vagcom -gave her a good clean cut and wax.
-
Do you still have both spacers on yours then? TBH I would remove the second one that way it will sit flush, pluss it only takes 5 mins to take off and refit.
