  1. nah, you don't NEED to connect all 4 inputs... The only thing that will happen is that when you fade the stereo to either front or rear (depending on how you've got it wired) you'll get more/less bass from the Basslink... 8) You can happily power it up with NO RCA cables connected without fear of any damage... it won't do anything if you do that, but it can't damage it if there's nothing connected! ;) 8)
  2. yup, 1.8 16V KR engine is covered in full by the MKII golf Haynes manual.... that's how I rebuilt my first watercooled engine too! 8)
  3. also try http://www.bar-tek-tuning.de They're very good and helpful and I've been really happy with the service and quality of the stuff I've had off them... hint: press the union jack on their website once it loads up! ;)
  4. sounds like you need an electronic noise supressor fitting... probably to the alternator, or simply to the power cable to the head unit...
  5. 20v turbo, yeah, know what you mean there mate... I thought about doing it that way around when I fitted mine, but I wanted to be able to see my TV more than the gauges! ;) 8)
  6. ANDY16V, it's held in by 3 allen grub screws, but the hole in the center is spot on for the Corrado's shaft so it's a nice tight fit and doesn't move around... 8)

    locking up

early cars should have the closure for the key for just the windows, it was the later models which did the sunroof as well. It could be that the wiring on your door handle has either been disconnected or has broken. Take the handle off and check that it's still connected... 8)
  8. With Daz on this one... colour coded to the rest of the car with a polished lip... Oh, and avoid using carbon fibre vinyl, that's the stuff of badly modded Corsas and such and has NO place on a quality motor like yours... 8)

    Number Plates

ALL corrados were built at Osnabrück in Germany at the Karmann coachworks factory. 8) And your chassis number tells me yours is a late G60, so built somewhere around the start of 1992... ;)

    golfs

Yup, makes a fair old difference, but you still can't quite match the 4wd effect from the Rallye in a FWD car around the twisty bits... :( (I know, I tried and failed miserably! )
  11. h100vw, not entirely true... disconnect a plug lead and I'll wager it'll adjust the tickover... ;) Sorry, I'll get me coat...

    golfs

'lo Cai, long time no see... how's tricks? 8) I'm pretty sure that there's only a couple of KG difference between the rallye and the Corrado G60 in full road trim...

    golfs

A decent Corrado G60 can happily be taken to 200bhp with very little work... It's about the same weight as the Rallye, but obviously doesn't come with 4wheel drive from the factory so the corrado will loose a little on the traction/grip front... Other than that, they're reasonably similar performance... 8)
  14. Ok, so, stating that max BHP was at 7200 RPM and that it'd easily be over 300BHP with another 1000rpm in your first post was just plain incorrect and misleading and is exactly the kind of post I was having a dig at. I could happily extrapolate the rolling road graphs I have for my cars and say that "with another 2000rpm I'd be making 300bhp in my MKI 16V which had a standard 1.8 KR engine in it!" I'd not say that though, 'cos it won't spin that fast! The post with the pics of the graphs in it IS ,however, impressive, and does show that this is a bloody powerful G60 engine with plenty of grunt pretty much all through the rev range... Sounds like the guy who has built this knows his stuff and has built a little corker of an engine... I'd love to know the rest of the spec on this... 8)
  15. http://www.demon-tweeks.com are pretty good too... 8)

    Scary brakes!

you have air in your brake fluid from boiling the brakes... Get them bled as soon as possible.

    Boost Gauge

Rossco, nice boost gauge... ;) Looks kinda familiar... 8) Keep watching... ;) 8)
  18. Thread locked. Please use THIS to put your name down for the actual group buy... 8)
  19. NO! they're heat shields... just buy some new clips to hold it on from VW (a few pence each!) and bash it back into shape... 8)
  20. They won't fit 4 cylinder cars... :( Stealth (and other places including G-Werks IIRC) sell the Shrick baffled sump for the 4 cylinder cars which is very good... 8)
  21. take that panel out, sell it for a huge profit and modify the ashtray space like I did on J-DUB... 8) Neverite, That's not what I was on about in the other thread, I did this over the Xmas hols 2003 for J-DUB while I was rebuilding her... 8) You can make an A/F gauge which will easily fit into a switch blank if you want to... The details are on here somewhere (that's where I got my info from anyway! )

    custom a/f gauge

yup, and yup... I made one for J-DUB but never got around to fitting it.... Someone on here (Kevheywire I think) posted up wiring diagrams and a parts list a while back which is how I made mine... 8)
  23. you mean, a bit like this? 8)
  24. not for long.... Brembos and MKIV rears hopefully going on this weekend and the engine may be slightly different too by the end of Monday... ;) Oh, and the 40 offset Borbets are slightly different to the norm too, but I'm not sure if they're gonna stay that way or not... BLING! they're polished Borbet Cs... 8)
  25. erm, don't ALL escort drivers need slapping?!? ;)
