Fastest (Soon to be in)Production Car in the World
Henny replied to Yandards's topic in General Car Chat
A major part of the problems which have delayed the release of this car has been getting the tyre companies to develop road tyres that'll take the kinda abuse that this car will subject 'em too... :cuckoo: They did have some problems with cooling with the initial test vehicles, but they appear to have worked out how to get around that... (probably involving an ice making machine which uses a small part of the engine power to cool the engine down to a reasonable level!!! ) -
umm... Can't actually take any photos of my garages 'cos I can't actually get in any of 'em... :| My single garage has J-DUB, a seperated G60 engine, a lupo dash (for my MKI), the interior for my MKII and a 3.5KW generator in it (don't ask, I'm not sure why either...) My back garden (which you access THROUGH the garage!) has my MKII golf in it which I can't get out until I get J-DUB shifted out of the garage, but she's got no front suspension at the moment (it's on the dining room floor - like you do... ) and then my Parent's double garage has my MKI in bits (lot and lots of bits!) in it with just enough room to fit their Leon in too... I REALLY need to sell of some of my car bits and cars and seek help soon... :|

quite a few early 90's tuning companies did Convertable versions of the Corrado with the Zender one being the famous one, and the Karmann one which is in the factory being another. IIRC there were a few Zender ones made in the end, so your seeing one is possible... 8)

Again I was blown away by how standard your car looked at E38 Jay... it all fitted so well (probably better than original!) and just looked right 8) Good work fella... 8) -

it's soooooo worth making the effort to get to a show to see this car boys and girls... For a work in progress, it's still proper jaw-dropping stuff... 8) -
Sam? You're a nutter... That's gonna be one awesome engine when you get it into your Corrado... 8) Good luck with it, and you know how to get hold of me if you need anything... ;) 8)

if you're going to go to that website, please open up a fresh Internet window so that the muppet in question doesn't suddenly get hundreds of hits coming from here and come looking at this thread... ;)

with 1.5Gb of storage in one of the 2 cameras I'm taking with me, there's gonna be a sh!t load of photos taken by me... if any of 'em are any good is a different matter though! -
the G60 has got the vacuum pipe, but it still gets confused by changing the chip and pulley, especially when you add in Red top injectors! Don't get me wrong... it's not a million miles out, but it's definately nowhere near as accurate as on a standard engine... ;)

mrbeige, there WILL be some photos of Jay's car floating around after the show... trust me on that one! ;) -
Use copper pipe for the fixed pipes and Goodridge stainless steel braided pipes for the flexy pipes. Also replace the brake fluid with DOT5.1 Together these should give you a more responsive brake pedal feel and less fade with the added knowledge that you're not gonna have to replace 'em again for at least 10 years... 8)
-
as soon as you modify the engine, the MFA becomes inaccurate due to not knowing that the engine has been modified... It's only set up to work with the original chip and pulley... ;) (capacity increases REALLY confuse it! )

check your brake light bulbs.... odds are that one of them has blown and shorted across to the tail lamp side of the bulb. When you press the brakes it's putting power into the tail lamps and powering all of the lights... Not a massively common problem, but it has come up before here... 8)

neither of those... IIRC it's this one... 93478 RADIATOR THERMO SWITCH CO >7/93 3 Pin with Cover 7.95 The ones you listed are single speed only... (2 pin) The temps are the switch on temp/switch off temp, there should be 2 listed for the Corrado temps, or it should have 3 pins like the one I've listed above... 8)

Does your corrado hit the rev limiter in 5th gear ?
Henny replied to VWci's topic in General Car Chat
Says in the owners manual 225km/h :rambo: mmm.... 139.8 mph... funny that's exactly what J-DUB did at Bruntingthorpe! :? -

funny, I was thinking the same thing too... :| -
no, that's not the correct one. The wire you're looking for is a thin blue one with a very faint white stripe along it. The wire you've found is one that someone's fitted in the past to control an amplifier or similar in the boot. The wire you're after should go into the wiring loom and head off over towards the fusebox...

yup, always worth checking a head for trueness... Simply make sure it's perfectly flat in all directions with no high/low spots. Head fitting is exactly as per the Golf manual (that's how I've always done mine!) but with the torques being 30, 60 and then 180degrees Have you got a vernier pulley with your piper cam? Without one, you just sling the original pulley on and time it up as normal... With one, you need to have a play for a while and find which setting is best for your engine... 8)

G60 serpentine belt tensioner (trick to getting it back on)
Henny replied to Cougar's topic in Engine Bay
oooh, like that idea! 8) -
VWci, that's a different part... the bit Corradowales means is where you put the key in... It's actually the switch that brakes down on these cars and causes this kinda problem... they're only £20ish from the dealer (don't buy one from GSF or ECP as they're nowhere near as good!) and take about 30 mins to fit... Some nice kind soul ( ) wrote a rather good "how to" on changing the switch too... ;) 8)
