I'm not even gonna think about what J-DUB cost me in the first year of ownership... I'm reasonably sure it was damned close to 9K though... H-YYU's been lots better... Well under £1K in the first 6 months I had her on servicing and tyres etc with no major problems... 8)

done (ages ago! ) H-YYU will be on the Dubforce stand, but I'll be milling around between both CF and DF stands during the weekend... 8) Keep an eye out for H-YYU, she's looking a little different from when any of you last saw her... 8)

first time I've had to put over £48 in the Corrado this morning... Glad it's the 12Gallon tank and not J-DUB's 15gallon one 'cos that'd have hit over £50... So when's the next boycott starting then? it can't be far off now... :|

g-mans 4 door corrado... alive again (update13/11/05)

ah nuts... sorry to hear that Daz, I was looking forward to seeing this pimped tank at E38... Hope the internals aren't too bent... :| -
The VR6 one IS different to the 4 cylinder ones as the radiator mounting points are in a different place. I don't know about the late valver (having never worked on one) but from what I remember about Phat's conversion it's the same as a late model G60 one, but different from the VR6 one in that it's not got some of the holes you will need and has some holes that you won't need... Basically what I'm saying is that you need a VR6 one for a VR6 and any 4 cylinder one for a 4 cylinder car as long as it's the same generation as your car (ie early or late)

ollster, yup, allowing the engine to settle on the 3 mounts as I described above can make a noticable difference to vibration transmission around the car... Hell, if you fitted 'em it's gonna take you 10 to 20 minutes to do and cost you nothing, so you have nothing to lose by trying it do you? ;) Check the earth straps on the badly running valver, they can make a fair old difference to how a car runs... quickest way is to run it as normal and get a feel for how the car runs, then clamp a jump lead from the -ve on the battery to where the main earth strap connects to the gearbox mount and see if that makes a difference... if it does, then there's your answer... 8)

who replaced the mounts? Did they let the engine settle on the new mounts before tightening them? Slightly loosen the top bolts / nuts on all 3 mounts and start the engine, rev the engine lightly a few times so that the engine moves around a little and settles in it's natural position, then nip up the bolts again. Turn the engine off and torque up the mounts properly. This can make quite a difference to how the car feels vibration wise as the engine will now be sat in it's natural position on the 3 mounts rather than being forced to sit more on one mount than another as it would be if the mounts were tightened/replaced in a random order...

another g60 whats it worth......sorry

if you're fully comp, I'd be tempted to get the screen changed/repaired under the insurance so there's only minor cosmetic faults with the car, then I'd say it is probably worth around £3.5K... 8) Get some pics up so we can see what she looks like... 8) -
I'd have thought that he's asking why his ABS doesn't work and if it's anything to do with the missing (fan control) module near to the expansion tank... The answer to which would be "NO, that module is nothing to do with the ABS so you need to get your car onto a tester so that the fault codes can be read to find out what the ABS fault is..."

Supercharged, exactamundo! 8)

Neil G60, yup, you'd have to punch a hole through the inner wing too to get any advantage from a wing vent... That one in the first post, IIRC, HAS got an airway from the vent to the airbox though... 8) I considered one on my car, but couldn't be bothered in the end...
-
yup, Steve's right there... J-DUB has ABS AND the block by the expansion tank. H-YYU hasn't got ABS and doesn't have the block, instead the relays and in line fuses are up by the interior fan... Go figure... VW do some weird things at times!

I've got original early leather door cards in H-YYU... They're not full leather though, only the bit around the door handle/arm rest is REAL leather, the rest is vinyl 'cos VW are a bunch of cheapskates...

What's the best looking/most ugly car ever made?
Henny replied to StormVR6's topic in General Car Chat
samm_cvr6, Musso? yeah, one of those feckers smashed in the front lights and grill on J-DUB not long after I'd got her and just drove off... I hate 'em too... Anyway, Nicest: AC Cobra 427 Ugliest: AMC Pacer... Also regularly voted worst ever car... :pukeright: -
Blue Corrado on the M60 in a contraflow just past Trafford park at 9:20 this morning... Anyone here? You wouldn't have spotted me 'cos I was in a Corsa (don't ask... )
-
sciroccotune, huh? Do you mean you don't have the box or you do have it and it's missing on MikeVR6's car?
-
The little black box with the 2 fuses in it which is attached to the expansion tank? That's not for the ABS, it's for the fan run on system... ;) Probably slightly different on a 2.0 16V from either VR or G60 engines... check with someone who's got a 2.0 16V to make sure though... 8) If the ABS light NEVER comes on, there's a problem with it somewhere and you shouldn't have been getting MOTs... It should turn on for a few seconds as you start the car. If it's not, then prise it out and check it's plugged in properly, they have been known to come loose...
-
check your fuses... There's a fuse (which also does the interior light IIRC) which will knock out the clock and MFA when the ignition is off if it's blown... Had this on H-YYU when I bought her... Pretty certain it's a 5A fuse too... 8) Dodgy MFAs are a sign of clocking when they do odd things (like displaying odd characters or impossible results) or when the milage starts doing odd things, not when it turns off as predictably as this... ;)

J-dub's just taking a rest... she'll be back... ;-) Hasn't Andi's VR got more miles than that on it now? Anyway, not trying to steal your thunder... Sounds like you've got yourself a little bargain there, storm or not, and anything with over 200K on it gets respect from me anyway, show me another car where at least half have got over 100K on 'em with around 0.1% of all imported over 200K miles!

I'm on a winner here I think... 8) Shelby AC Cobra Coupe... Only 6 EVER built... and I've sat in one of 'em... 8) It was at a service station last year down south with a GT40 (which was getting all the attention) and the owner seemed quite impressed when I went straight to his, ignoring the GT40... 8) Not as pretty as the original Cobra, but a bloody impressive car none the less... 8) Oh, and my dad's ex-boss had an old Bently supercharged thingy like that brettloveday, wonderful car, utterly scarey when you compare the brakes and tyre sizes/widths with the power/size of the thing though!  8) *edit* sh!t, I just found out that the Cobra Coupe is worth upto $6.5 million US! This guy was driving it on the road in the UK!!! It WAS an original too, 'cos it was the one of the ones I saw at Goodwood last year too...

Umm... J-DUB was off the road for around 6 months after the bottom pulley bolt sheared... and has now been off the road since Oct 28th when someone crashed into her... She WILL be back on the road soon though... H-YYU has had about 6 weeks off the road since I got her in late January, but 3 of those I was out of the country while someone I know did some bits and pieces for me (you'll see what at/after E38 ;) ) Normally I use her as my daily driver adding 300+ miles a week... 8)

billinjahg60, that number doesn't guarantee a bosch part, but if you ask 'em you should be able to get one out of 'em... 8) The lambda normally lives on TOP of the cat/cat-bypass so getting a spanner in can be a bit of a git... discounts are always worth trying to get... there's nothing official set up, but it's not going to hurt giving it a try... ;)

check you brake fluid level...

oops, I meant both 16V engines... forgot about the 8V bit...

WONGA, still change that circlip though... you'll find that your change is much more positive afterwards... 8)
