I'm sure I tried that and it didnt work! Thas what I thought, the wiring seems very easy but it only worked the way I explained it. If you want you can ring me when you are trying it? If you want my number then send me an e meail. Have you got instructions?

I am having my head done at PD and I am having it fully serviced and VW quoted me over £100 for the leeds and John would rather use VW leeds than apposed to the leeds from G and S. Can anyone recommend a set of high performance leeds that are better than the standard VW leads? I need to purchase them today if possible so I am keen for any responses! Cheers

Mate I know your exact problem!!! It took me ages to try and work it out and I still couldnt figure it out and my mate poped his head in the car and did it in 2 seconds. You have a green and something coloured wire that needs to be attached to the 2 terminals on the same part as the horn switch,it looks wrong like you should connect it to something else but its correct and the eart wire goes on to the the other connector that touches the metal on the back (boss), if you take pictures of it let me know and I can help you further, you may be able to work it out from my explination but its much easier for me too see it! Just let me know how you get on! When you think its connected, just turn your ignition on and test it before you connect it all up. If you have connected it properly, you may just need to bend the contact out so it earths itself upon contact therefore sounding the horn. :D

Different MOT stations will have preferences on what they think is acceptable. You may find that they are not happy with the tint so bear that in mind. If you take the car to a smaller out fit they are normally kinder as they have less to loose IMO.

Hi all I left my C in the cabable hands of jOhn Mitchell at PD Motorsport - now to be John Mitchell Motorsport who is changing my head gasket and tensioners and taking out my Carbon canister and re routing the pipes. I have had a new set of plugs and leads as the ones from German and sweedish have broken down and somehow I have managed to loose an electrode, cant remmeber if I used different plugs which might explain the reason from teh electrodes being missing but when I get it back it should be running like a dream. Also new oil filter, new thermostat, new o ring and Im just about to call up again and get a new dizzy cap and rotar arm as I may as well do the lot. John called me last night and explained to me what damage had been done and the reassons why we should do them now rather than later and we spoke for a while and you can tell Jogn is not in this job sticktly for wages as he has an extreme love for C's and Vdubs. Its the first time I have come across service like it and I feel that I have found a mechanic I can trust for life. You should really forget all your other mechanics and stick with John and it will keep him in business and keep your car running sweet. Well impressed. Just though I'd share that info with you and when I get her back I will let you know hows she running!

They look the nuts!! Get it! Sorry, poor humour today.

mate, do you want to flog your A /C to me? I have a friend who is an engineer in this field and said he would fit it for me?

Mercedes do a special tint that is a Limo tint if you like that you can see out of perfectly and you cant see in at all!! The Germans ey!! I will make some enquiries for those who like to go dark and stay legal. Your best bet if your worried about your tints where there are lots of police is to simply put your windows down! :)

that looks cool, subtle and smart. I may do the mod now?? Anyone tinted there burgandy c and have got a pic?

Everyone is refering this rubber bit as a thingy!! What the thingy?? I looked and couldnt see anything wrong. The window is loose though at the bottom and there definitely isnt a rubber part there that has come off. Maybe my car is missing that rubber part. My passenger side is ok, I just thought I could fix it by what people said and if I still dont get it after any replies I will just have to take the door pod off the passenger side and see if anything looks different.

If you look at my picture on the side of my posts they have tinted windows and it looks quite good. My car was edited by one of my work mates to see what it would look like. Whats peoples opinions on window tinting, if I was to get it done I would go any darker than light smoke but do you think it suits my picture as my car is that dark burgandy colour. Its not massively important but its something Im thinking of doing....maybe??

Please, please can someone help me.... It was a nice saturday afternoon, my girlfriend was in a good mood so I thought I would take my door card off and sort out the problem of a squeeky window and the horrible noise you get when the window sounds like its going to break because you've shut the door with the window down! I read from previous posts that there is a rubber seal that pops off and for the life of me I could not see any seal that had poped off! I had a few nice cups of mint tea from the wife then that stopped and she was now getting impatient!! Im sure im not the only one!! The window feels really loose to prod it at the bottom right hand side and yesterday my car went to John at PD Motorsport for some head work and I asked him and he said that he would have a look but im curious as to what it could be. He did say my window rubbers were worn and soft so that may be the case but if anyone knows different I would love to hear form you. Cheers

dav, Thanks for your efforts! Talk then. :D

I tried to copy and paste his first question which he added a question mark by, '' can the tensioners be replaced with the gearbox in?'' I was saying no, you have to take the gear box out so its not worth doing just one tensioner and wait till you need the clutch done and do it all at the same time if you didnt understand what I meant. :)

Unless you have had a chip and they recommend the rev range is longer! :D

Mine does something similar, its mainly when I steeri right and the slower you go the louder it gets. I didnt bother writing a thread on it as I thought that I would get back replies like ball joint, wishbone etc and I have had them all done. My car was in a smack and I think that my steering rack mayt need doing. I can never seem to get my steering wheels on straight and I think that this has something to do with it, to be honest it is the only thing I havent replaced under there. When my car was once on the ramp I had a look underneath and there looked to be some rubbing on the power steering pipe / s so I am going to get this looked into further but there was definitely some new shiny steel that I could see. Sometimes when I am coming to park by turning right the noise is embarrising, well it is to me and nobody comments on it. I guess that is just because they dont want to upset me. Has your car been in an accident or bang or something? How is your tracking after they say oits fully tracked? Mine still pulls to the left and that was after the tracking was done twice. The mechanic said he couldnt adjust my tracking any further as one side was wound fully out and he needed more so he said I should get the rack centred first then start over again which made sence then I took it to my local mechanic who is really good and he tracked it and said the side that is wound fully out needs to come back in again so I dont know whats going on. Im sure it may all boil down to the rack and if so I will get a new one as the feel through the steering is very important part of the cars drive and pleasure. I heard on the C its a bit of a nightmare so I may just have to have a go at doing it! If you cure your problem then please let me know and I will do the same and we can discuss peoples opinions on this thread at a later time. Cheers

You should never take your car into the red because you loose power after around 5 and a bit thousand revs, you car will scream its nuts off and you have lost power, the best thing is to change at around 55 /6000 revs if not less and start to pick up power and speed from the next gear. It does work, trust me, when you race you think of yourself as a rallye driver and screaming the engine because your all hyped up, if you relax, make a good gear change at sensible revs and then back down hard on the throttle you will notice a better result. I know I have run off slightly what you asked but its still relevant to your topic mate 8)

macca, Was thinking will i need to replace the chains and tensioners? leave them untill they make a lot of noise? just replace the tensioners that can be done with out the g/box out? Mate, there is a tensioner behind the gearbox area, this means the gearbox would have to come out and then you may as well do your clutch - lots of money!! Unless the cars gets much louder then I wouldnt bother replacing the chain or the tensioners untill then. I have started my car up after a few days rest before and heard a weird noise which is IMO just the oil getting round the engine, or the tappets literally for a second or 2 then she purs! I think its the concious factor that worries us with the chain as cam belts always need to be done at x amout of miles thats why the chain idea is very good and strong.

dav, Im just getting a new head gasket at the moment, I need to get that sorted then when I have saved up enough money I will go to town on it so I just want the car to function properly and for everything to be perfect before I start doing major mods. John at PD Motor sport is tackiling the job for me as AI was very comfortable with what he said and he explained it to me in english so even though its 180 miles round trip its worth it, plus the roads are great - all dual carrage ways so travelling back at night you can really test your bottle around the nice bends!!

Dont be silly, I imagine the two go hand in hand, the G60 is louder than the VR anyway! I know oval pipes are very common so may decide to go for twin oval or twin square with the edge rounded off as the c is fairly boxed shaped. Hope you get the result you need Dboy, :)
-
Cool, I probably will stick with an oval tail pipe, I want a straight through pipe for the cat not a sports cat. If you could get me a price that would be very good of you. Super sprint do make good systems, so hopefully it will be a bit louder than the others! Do you know when you can let me know? Its just that I have to save some wedge as my head is being done on Monday! Thanks again!

I am looking to purchase a new system for my VR nad I have heard a magnex and spoken to Andi ref his Miltec exhaust which he said he was very pleased with. I want a exhaust that will sound very deep, just not ear hurting, but definitely louder than the magnex system. Does anyone know what exhaust I should be looking to purchase? I have always wanted a super sprint exhaust so if anyone has one on their VR the please drop me a line. Aiiii - Cheers - I could murder a cold beer, the weather today feels really sticky but not sunny!!

I have a laptop just need the software. Can this be down loaded from the NET? I live in Bournemouth if your around at all in the near future.
-
Ahhhh, I thought you were just being sarcastic, my apologies. Wicked, we can cover costs for postage and what ever else you may require. I suppose we could all agree well for the ones that are keen to use your system or any other a price that we would all cover as a deposit or if someone accidently broke it. Did you say it was a copy? Is it still accurate? Apologies again, I just thought you were being selfish. My bad!

Ok fair enough but I would like to know of people that would like to contribute to buying such a system and not for those who already have use of VAG COM! So you enjoy your personal VAG COM untill your hearts content!
