  3. put new coolant in this morning. with a new coolant drain plug which I bought from VW. all seem okay.... can anyone tell me what temp the fan should kick in at on a VR6.... mines at about 98 degrees. is that about right ???

still available from VWheritage before xmas round about £160.....
  8. Okay... so I've drained it and flushed it a few times this morning, wasent too mucky apart from some sludge at the bottom on the expansion tank that I cleaned out with a rag and a screwdriver..... looks like the bentley was wrong not 8 litres, I filled the system with about 6.5 litres of water to flush it. next weekend I will fill the system up.... just ordered some G13 of ebay. any suggestion on mix 50:50 60:40.... was thinking as its about 6.5 litres I need to put 3 litres of G13 concentrate in and fill the rest with iron water. so its in between the ratio. anyone know if the coolant drain plug on the crack pipe is still available to buy from VW.... might buy one for next time it has a part number of BPO 021 121 100
  9. Dunno now. The book suggests with air co it takes 2 litres more coolant than the standard 6 litres
  10. Anyone . Before I get to involved this morning.
  11. Oops sorry guys. Wrong section should be in engine bay not drive train.
  12. Cheers... Book says 8.2/8.6 with air con. So I guess 3 bottles of g13 Does the air co effect how the system is bleed / flushed / filled.
  13. Thanks great advice.... Re filling..... Now which coolant and what mix 50/50 ?
  14. Hadn't thought about back flushing the matrix. Couldn't find the coolant drain tap that Bentley mentioned so was going to dump it from the bottom of the rad. Flush the rad from the top then connect pipes and fill with distilled water wake the heater on full and run for a bit making sure it doesn't overheat. Then dump the water a fill with a mix of coolant and distilled water. It's got orig coolant in it so I guess it needs a good flush.
  15. just been looking for a quick idiots guide for changing the coolant but found nothing.... anyone like to point me in the right direction or give me an quick guide how to flush and change, I've got air co if that makes any difference...... got an idea what I plan to do just need a push in the right direction. G12++ or G13.... not found the correct answer either for a VR6
  16. solitudes are still available new from vwclassicparts round about £80 each delivered. http://shop.volkswagen-classic-parts.de/vwcp/Scirocco-Corrado/Corrado/Fahrwerk/Felgen/Alufelge-Solitude.html
  17. if it's just the connections you need that join to the back of the head unit and the rest of your loom is not butchered you can just change the ISO connection blocks. I bought connectors and blocks the other day off ebay for either a fiver or four quid cant remember now. they fitted a treat. looms about 20mm shorter now but not butchered. edit.... here you go... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/16-Pin-Male-ISO-Terminal-Block-Socket-Connector-Repair-Kit/251161675325?_trksid=p5197.m2280&_trkparms=aid%3D333005%26algo%3DRIC.FIT%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D319%26meid%3D4525609226339872890%26pid%3D100068%26prg%3D1175%26rk%3D1%26rkt%3D3%26sd%3D251161675325%26clkid%3D4525610460512846045&_qi=RTM1572015
  18. Just thinking the same too....
  19. I was in email contact with him middle of last week, regarding an exhaust..... he gave me a quote I think Tuesday / Wednesday. he's normally quite quick with his response.
  20. agree that may be the number with tax discs at present.... lots are SORN for winter :)
  21. don't get too over sold on the idea of a storm. I grant you they are limited edition but they only have a few extra beadges / a different shade of blue / coloured front grill / and a different set of rims. solitude rims are actually more common than speedlines that were on standard vr's due to the fact they were fitted to golf's. you can still buy a new set of solitudes from VW but speedlines are obsolete. buy the best car you can afford for the pennies you have. lots of rust buckets our there !
  22. normally the first thing to check is the abs warning sensors on each wheel. if he doesn't have vagcom you can check them by unplugging them and put a volt metre across them to check their resistance. if you get 4 constant readings within tolerances their all okay.. if one of the three is totally different its the one that needs changing. for parts try.... vwspares.co.uk or vwheritage or eurocarparts or if the parts not obsolete and your feeling rich try your local vwdealer. if you search "corrado abs sensor" on ebay you will see what i'm talking about to check first
