It does seem to be the option with the least hassle factor.

You can get a cat bypass replacement just make sure it looks like a cat', like the ones on awsome gti. It'll then depend on the emissions, if you emissions fail with the bypass you'll have to put the cat back on for the MOT, once it passes you can switch it back. There was a thread very recently discussing a similar issue....

It is a bugger, and removing it is easier than refitting it.

350ish miles from a £45 tank that would actually be just over 30mpg then? dunno what's going on with you guys on KE-jet 2L cars, I've yet to get less that 330 miles from a tank and mines only 55 Litres! - I'm curently averageing about 33-34mpg per tank. After Jims last economy rant i think we worked out that we have somthing stupid like a 20litre reserve!

Tis only £40 for the big HPI check. You can get it done for £10 which will give you all the important info, if its been written off, changed colour, how many owners, etc. Check out the autotrader site for various companies that'll do this online, they'll even do it to your mobile now.... He should get it done really, mainly due to the owner (not that you would) being able to very easily change the computer printout.

Fast tick will probably be one of your relays not switching and sticking until you provide it with bit more juice when accelerating....

According to the MFA mine rarely goes above 27, this is from varied driving.....I usually get about 350ish miles from a £45 tank.

ahh i think i know what you mean now, i was looking for some sort of long pipe!

Did you check out the water pump when you did the 'stat? it might working but maybe not to full capacity.....just another sugestion.

Looks a similar colour to the oak green golf that someone was selling on here not so long ago...

Yeah agree with Supercharged. Mine runs between 90 and 100 with both water and oil being about the same temperature, depending on journey times. Yours seems a little hot for reading that just after 7 miles but its still nothing to worry about. Yes you do need to change the cap to a blue one, but this wont help the temperature..

strange one with the light it should at least turn off with the switch, a temporary solution would be to remove the bulb.....as for the engine, an immobiliser could cause this...
-
Check both contact connections under the horn push, it should just pull up...

Just curious davidwort, do you know what makes them different?

I believe that it will fit, the cover screws in to 2 studs on the front corners of the cover.......

Ah yes forgot about that one! Good thought mattkh. Would still consider doing the lift pump too.....
-
The in tank lift pump is only £20 or so from GSF, and is quite a good part from them too, if it's never been changed it's certainly worth doing it. If the lift pump was gone then it would strain the pump making it make various pitch noises. Change the lift pump as its cheap and easy to do, even if it doesn't cure the problem at least you've changed something that will cause you problems in the future...
-
Yeah your right, the in tank one is a lift pump. there will be another pump where tut_gareth said.

Yes, and it was even worse than the standard.....the aero blades are curved, thus proving how crap the standard arms are, the aero blades are supposed to have improved pressure on the screen but this will only work if the blade actually touches the screen! They work well on the rear though.

I seem to remember a thread sometime last year talking about parking over 2 spaces, the conversations got very heated!
