G60 - cost to replace Supercharger?
Banana Man replied to Dave_Corrado16v's topic in General Car Chat
LOL running a g60 with charger bypass is like driving a ford fester 1.1 with a misfire :D ( I should know I had to drive my G 40 miles with no boost  If you take the intercooler pipe off the throttle bodie end and run a shorter belt it shouldn't be a problem as the intercooler will pick up any of the larger fragnments from a detonating charger. A method of cleaning ou the cylinders if there are any signs of metal fragments after the intercooler is to take all of the spark plugs out of the head disconnect the HT king lead at the coil end and flush petrol down each cylinder and creank the engine over a few times ( best to get a rag over each cylinder to see whats actually coming out of the cylinders) when it's all clear fire her up!! For £300 it's a bargain go for it!! 8) -
Audi s2 quattro turbo or golf g60 edition 1 ( like the one at G-Werks today!! :D ) Or for the really fun car the corrolla gt coupe proper old skool fun!!

fooking hell you done that proper mate top marks for destruction!!! Your ok though thats the main thing, at the end of the day it's only metal that can be replaced Get your insurance money through and get another one and take it EASY :)

Thanks for the comments guys 8) Chris long time no see how's it going? You would not believe how much time has been spent on this engine now so many things have been replaced I have lost track. But it has all been worth it and should have it back on the road in the very near future and hopefully thats where it is going to stay for a long while so I can start to enjoy it rather than wave the cursing stick at it!!! :D Anyways heres a couple more pics it's looking almost complete now just got to get the freshly ported charger instaled and get the oil feeds to it on, top it up with oil and coolant, bleed the brakes and then it should be all systems go :D

LOL yeah it's been a while aint it jim since it's been out and about but that is all hopefully gonna change very soon 8) |The new numberplate will be going on it next week as soon as the blo@dyDVLA come to inspect the car!!

heres some pics of my freshly rebuilt engine 8) Heres a list of whats been fitted New clutch, lightened & balanced flywheel, Red top injectors, rebuilt cylinder head, schrick cam, 1.9 bottom end, ported and flowed supercharge, complete engine loom, all new bolts and fixings, rallye fmic (on loan for the time being) And the most obvious change that you notice straight away is that we have painted the entire engine black which looks stunning!!! Even though the transformation isn't complete yet I am well happy with the results so far, hopefully we will be getting it running tomorrow night so I can drive it away on saturday!!! I cant wait 8) I want to put a big shout out to Darren, liam and steve who have been helping me with the rebuild the transformation is amazing 8)

I hit 3 young deer on the way back from my girlfriends a couple of years ago 2 went under the n/s and o/s front wheels and the third hit the front bumper and cracked my indicator ( bast*rd  ) I was lucky that was all the damage they caused!! I dont think the mother of the 3 I hit would have been so considerate as I was travelling at 60+ at the time and she luckily had the good sense to turn and run the other way :D They make a good crunch when you run over their heads though :) Sorry Struan I must just be one of those sick minded people!!!

Have you taken the head off yet? When the pulley bolts shears it usually damages a couple of the valves, when mine went last year it bent 2 exhaust valves and it also damaged the groove in the crank so I had to replace that as well. As Gavin says the sheared bolt is usually easy enoungh to get out as it is no longer under tension mine just wound out using my finger! When you put another crank in use a DX engine code bolt from a golf for the pulley it isn't a stretch bolt and is alot stronger than the PG bolt.

I know you can get tinted spray I ve got some :D I wanted film this time round to stick on the outside with the vinyl stickers

I cheaed this time and have bought a set of lights for mine!! :D I ve got blue fogs, white headlights, red rear tailights and bright red brake lights that work off of a micro switch when the servo is activated :) Just got to rig em up now. I bought a sheet of dark smoke tint film to do the windows and the lights and got some black vinyl for the rest of the black trims. It's going to look sweet. Ordered a load of bits for my cars so I can get to rebuilding them as they need a little work!

Hi Michael yours has been sent might take a few days seeing as it's got to travel half way round the world :D But it has been sent mate 8)

I would hazard a guessn at the power steering pump as well check to make sure it has fluid in it first and turn the steering lock to lock while stationary and engine running, if it gets worse when you do this then that will be your problem power pumps are easy enough to change and get hold of second hand so not too bad.

Not selling the mould I'm afraid!! :D

There wouldn't be any point in putting leaded fuel into your valver for a couple of reasons. 1. 4 star is (or was) 97 ron and optimax or ultimate is 98 ron so you woyuldn't be gaining anything from putting 4 star in. 2. It will probaly damage the oxygen sensor Just my opinion :)

I was going to leave it for a wek or so so that everyone who wants one has time to put their names down as after this batch I doubt I'll be getting anymore done!
-
It should fit fine the wheelbase on my HPI RS4 is 255mm and it fits nicely in the arches the track is 200mm and the wheels sit slightly proud of the arches and your only talking 7mm each side which isn't all that much
-
coolrado, I ve got a few abs ones but haven't got any spoilers for them if you are keen on one PM me and I will sort something out for ya golddust, Yeah shouldn't be a problem fitting it to a tamiya TL-01 chassis that is a 190mm width chassis isn't it???
-
hutchyvw, they're going to be alot quicker than the last lot were and I wont be asking for any money off you guys till the shells are ready and in my hands that way it should be a nice quick turn around :D 8) As for when this GB is going ahead depnds on how quickly people come forward to order the shells. 8)

sorry coxylaad but dont have them in std shape if you pay for the moulding process and the adjustments that need to be made I'm sure Keith will do it but it does cost alot of money

Ok folks I ve realised there is quite a few of you that missed out on the initial GB so thought I would astart this thread to find out exactly how many of you there are that want one. The price for the shells are £25 inc postage. The shells are made for a 200mm 1/10th scale rc cars but should also fit 190mm chassis without too much fuss. put your name down with how many shells you are after and we'll take it from there From the people that have already recieved their shells I get the general impression that everyone is very happy with them and must admit myself they are of a very good quality! below is a couple of pics of the shells painted 8) If you have any questions just fire away I will be happy to help! 8)
