    It's a J-reg so will be one of the first. I'm gonna try and talk her into having a look at it, cos surely it's better than the fiat. I've heard they aren't mega quick, but she's going from a 1.1 so it will feel like a porsche to her. If I get round to having a look at it I'll let you all know.

    My "on off" girlfriend mentioned the other day, she would like a Golf GTi, due to the clutch cable going on her Fiat Seicento Sporting (Not got a clue how to spell). Common fault on them. It's only a £13 part but it's a good couple of hours pain in the ass to fix! But mainly it's swapping a fiat for a Dub, surely a good thing. Anyway I've found a bargin Mk3 GTi 2L 8v for £1795 2 owners from new, 75K miles, FSH Looks nice enough in the pic. Just wondered what the major things to look out for are? Thanks RACK

It's getting near re-build time for my G-Lader and last time I had it done it cost me over a grand cos the one I had was fooked, so I'm preparing for the worst (being an eternal optimist :lol: ) Just wondered (again) what bits and how much I could change to a turbo? I know a different down pipe is needed, I've got a Golf IC to go on, but I'm planning a 1.9L bottom end and also a X-Flow head conversion. Cheers RACK

    Recommendation

    Just had a clifford concept 300 ripped out of mine, had a few probs with it (draining battery in 2days, constant false alarming, no internal sensors, and a relay had been wired up wrong) then it died!!! I've now got a Toad Ai606 and can't recoomend it highly enough :D :D

    Total refurb

    Just thought I'd put a litle bit of an up-date on this. I went and got another quote on getting the car sprayed yesterday at a local body shop with a growing reputation. The quote ended up being a good figure £800, they said the roof only needed buffing and it would only take about a week. Looks like my C isn't in as bad a nick as I thought :D

    How much?

    Got a few mods I'm looking to do, but due to me and my mate having loads of work on we just haven't got the time. Has anyone got a rough idea on how much the following mods would be? Fitting Golf IC and possibly re-locating oil cooler. Fitting a Mk3 16v Gearbox and Sachs clutch. Taking charger off so I can get it re-built. Cheers peeps RACK
  9. Daily driver here too. Although, it's only a 7 mile round trip to work and back, but seen as my garage isn't next to the house, I always give the beast a lap thorugh town before I tuck it in. Usually do about 25-35miles a day.
  10. I've tracked one down for about £175. My next clutch will be a VR6 one, but I've got a sachs one ready to put in.

  15. SO let me get this right, A Mk3 GTi 16v gearbox is a straight swap and gives 63 in 2nd? Any ideas where I can get one?
  16. Sorry to hear about this, I returned from holiday on saturday and heard my charger making some strange noises, just what I need at the min too. Hope it's not too much damage mate

    200 bhp?

    It's not that hard, the chips usually just a case of cracking open the ECU pulling the old one out and popping the new one in. The pulley can be a bit tricky, but nothing too hard.
  18. Might be a little off topic, but henny, how much work was involved putting the 1st and 2nd gear froma VR into your Gearbox?

    You can get bout 185-195bhp with a chip and 68mm pulley swap for around £250 I was shocked with the difference this made. But make sure the charger is up to it first. Get it rebuilt or flowed bout £300-£400. After that kind off power the standard intercooler starts to struggle, go for a Golf G60 one but it will cost ya bout £500, but can add a lot of power, ask JimG60, I think his was about 20-30bhp more than a car with a similar set up except Jim had the Golf IC. Speak to Darren (G-Man) on this forum or John Mitchell (16VG60) they know loads about G60s
  20. This sounds like a thread for G-Man. Ask Darren what he's expecting from the X-Flow. You'll be surprised, that's what route I'm going down :D
  21. I'm sure one of these IC's has been fitted to a polo G40, so I guess there would be enough room, at the front of the C.
