Is that the dark green Mk1 with huge arches?
-
Any ideas what other audis they were on?
-
That's well cheap. How do you go about fitting the porsche calipers then? Custom bracket?
-
I'd love a set of Porsche brakes but I bet even the rear calipers would cost a fortune. My cousin has just bought a brand new Carrera 4S, the thing doesn't half move!!! But it stops even better. He gave me a taster of the brakes by jumping on then at 60mph, my face was hurting for 20 minutes after
-
On one of the vw vortex links posted above, I think it's the last one, it mentions the pads overlapping the discs by 4mm. A place called PG Perfomance used to mod the calipers so the all the pad was on the disc, so no overlap. Also, if you are getting a couple of sets I'd be interested, would you mind me being cheeky and asking to buy a pair off you? My brakes need doing big time at the min :(
-
That's what I'm scared of, otherwise I'd have a set of the red beasts on. Where did you manage to source the S2 calipers from? Also, I've just read the post on votex saying that a place called PG Performance used to modify the calipers to eradicate the 4mm gap between the edge of the disc and edge of the pad, does anyone know how this is done? I'm gonna send an email to them soon to see if I can get any info on the mod. I'll post the reply I get.

I know I'd spoke to you somewhere about it. What are you going for brembo's?

That what I was thinking, Italian cars  It uses gasket paste/sealant insted of a normal gasket. The ex has just rang up and it's £76 for the parts, £68 for the sump and £8 for the gasket paste. Which means fiat wanted £124 for fitting it
-
My ex has just had her Sceicento sporting looked at by Fiat and they reckon the sump is badly corroded and needs replacing. They gave her a price of £200. Now as much as I would love to turn round and laugh at her, I'm just too nice a guy and said I'd look at it. Is fitting a new sump just a case of draing the oil, undoing the bolts, taking it off, then bolting the new one on with a new gasket and putting new oil in? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Cheers peeps RACK

Probably take about 5000miles off of the rebuild time with a 65mm just to be safe. Not sure about power figures though. Yeah, The tooth kit eradicates belt slippage, which causes boost loss at the top end of the rev range, thus keeping the boost on. Not sure what other benefits are? I don't usually take mine past 6000 with a 68mm on, not sure what people recomend with a 65mm. Not too sure about a safety limiter either, I know the standard rev limiter on a g60 if a touch violent, and doesnt do the engine much good, due to it backing off that much. Hopefully I haven't made my self look too daft with these answer, but if I'm wrong someone will put the right stuff down. Cheers

You must have some decent mods to be running that power. I think mines about 200bhp, but is soon to change due to a x-flow conversion.
-
Not sure what standard boost is. But usually with a 68mm pulley and matching chip you should see just over 1bar. I found this mod made loads of difference when I fitted it, plus it's not that dear (round about £200), and should give you about 190bhp. Hope this helps

I reckon someone could make a nice little profit if they made a set of these and sold them on here. I'd have one straight. Not that I'm too lazzy to make my own of course

He's had a good look at it, it was in their body shop last year for some welding and touch ups done. That's when I asked him for the quote. He said between 2-3k for a totall re-build that's with new panals and the lot, but I reckon I can get away with a few of these to bring the costs down. I'm still in my "making my mind up" phase at the min. As soon as I can get hold of a digi camera I'll get some pics.
-
Steve, I know what you're saying. I had to do the same with mine cos it had been garaged for a year and half. But it is a lovely looking VR6. I didn't get to go up and see them yesterday, but will def let people know of all the goings on. No doubt it will give everyone something to giggle at  Cheers for the replies peeps RACK

My mate had the smae prob with his EBC and Green Pads. He said they were rubbish, he always got that grinding noise and suffered brake fade alot. This was on an FTO. Although it could just be the grooves cutting into the pads?
-
That was another idea. But a mint VR6 has just come up for sale, it was one that I used to see all the time round my way and was the one that made me want a C. 61K full VAG sh! It's been garaged for the last 2 years. I'm gonna go and get some more info on mine later today and see just how a good/bad a state its in. Oh the joys of motoring

Yeah, I know what your both saying, and in hindsight I should have probably cut my losses a long time ago, but I've got a lot of money tied into it and not quite sure what to do. I've lost faith in the C the last couple of weeks, but still couldn't bare to see it go! The welding cost a bt due to where I had it done, like I said before, JBS is a top quality shop and I didn't mind paying the extra due to the quality of work. I've got a few things to sort out first before I really make my mind up :| , but thanks for the replies. RACK

I've taken the one out of the boot, cos I thought it was this before. I'll do the glove box when I get out of work in a min and am waiting for the charger to warm up (how come a minute seems to take so long??). I thought it was my new stereo that was doing it, cos on my old one I had a surpressor box on the ignition live but took it off for this one, ever since then my battery has been a bit dodgy??? Strage cos they've both been Kenwood units?? Cheers again peeps (ps Henny, you must get more bored at work than me, I'm sure I've just spotted your name on dubforce  )

I was thinking bout doing this too. I'm sure aposegil mentioned something to me about it not so long ago, but I can't remember  I think the calipers are off a UR quattro?
-
I think I'm having a bit of a smilar prob. My batteries keep going flat. I'm on my 3rd since xmas. The +ve terminal is a bit fooked so I'm gonna swap those this weekend, shouls I check the earths mentioned too? Cheers

I wish I had have, but I did make sure the scratch was in the same shape as a big dipper!

I remember just getting my C back from having some paint work done. A brand new vectra pulled striaght up at the side of me, even though the car park was nearly empty, then the woman passenger just opened the door and banged it into mine. She then looked at me discusted as if it was my fault. I got out saw the dent and proceeded to have a go and her and her fella! It ended with him telling me not to worry cos it's only a J reg and I couldn't do anything about it now while he was walking off and smirking. If he had got out a apologised I would have been a little ok with it but I saw red and had to get some revenge and to this day wish I could have seen his face when he got back to his brand new car, after he had a nice key mark down the drivers door!
