148miles from £30 is about what I get in my G60. This is also due to a lead foot. The least I've had was about 30miles to a tenna. I'm always wanting to track my mk1 down, but I soon forget when I boot the C and hear the Boost being dumped! Keep the C mate

Drove my cousin's Golf VR6 the other day and can't get out just how smoooooooooth the power is! And the engine note is something else! The power delivery seems so much different to my tweeked G60. It's a totally standard golf with 115K on the clock. I'm not sure how much different the C vr6 goes but I was impressed with it. It didn't feel as quick as my G60, but it wasn't a slouch. In my C the boost is there and it all exploded with a huge induction roar, the VR has that grunt which gets louder when you hit 3K. I was well impressed with it. I don't think you can really compare the 2 engines because they have totally different characteristics. I will never comment on a G60 vs VR6 argument again :lol:

No it really is 350bhp. It turned out the lad who owns it worked with my mom. She over heard him one day saying he had a 350bhp corsa and so she went and said there's no way you can get that power out of a corsa (She knows loads about cars due to hearing about them constantly from me and our kid). I'm still waiting for a spin in it. A had him at a round about, but on the dual carrige way it just squated an went like a scaulded cat!!

My clifford was fitted by a place with a really good reputation round my area. It completely packed up and gave me nothing but trouble! It turned out it was just Bayloxed! And it kept draining my battery. I wouldn't have another Clifford thrown at me! My Concept 300 is sat in my boot at the min. I've now got a Toat Ai606 and am well happy with it. *RANT OVER* A mate at work is looking into an Avantguard, I'll have a word in a min and see where he's getting his from.

Got wasted by a corsa. Found out later though, it was running a 350bhp calibra turbo lump. So I didn't feel too bad.

That's why I'm thinking about using the original 280 dics or the ones from the Ibiza and seeing if the calipers can be made to fit. I'm looking for options for better brakes, I'd like the brembo set-up but I'd not like the price of a new set of wheels added to it if they're needed. Not that I'm tight, but I've got the engine to build up first. I've been trying to find some Audi S2 twinpot calipers, but can't get hold of any at the min. That's why I'm thinking bout the cheap S4 ones I can get hold of, and trying to make some brackets to fit them. The wheels I have are 7x16 with a 37ET. Once again thanks for the replies RACK

GradeA Double 99 and 187 are top tunes! I nearly put then on as samples! I've also got them on vinyl! Cant beat that bass!

Just found out that the Brake discs on an S4 are 340mm. These calipers are going for a good price, but I'm not sure if they will fit. Should I buy them and see if I can do something with them? I'm thinking about using the discs from a seat Ibiza cupra, cos I don't think the calipers are as bulky as the Seat brembo's so I might be able get away with keeping my wheels. Anyone got any ideas? I've got the chance of getting hold of some nearly new Audi S4 calipers for cheap. Does anyone know if they'll fit my G60 and go behaind 16" wheels? Thanks RACK

Yeah the headgaskets let go all too often. My younger brother has an MGF with the K-Series engine and he had to have it done when it went on the motorway.

A lady friend of mine has asked me to fit some crystal headlamps to her Driver. I'm guessing it's just a couple of bolts holding the light in and an easy job. I can get the C's out in a couple of mins so the golf shouldn't be too much bother. Can any confirm this, and give a few tips? Thanks RACK

Gonna pick up the headbolts, head gasket and big end shells from VW this afternoon, it was £140 for these bits. Gonna order the tappets from GSF later too.

Cheers mate, I'm wanting to get it all run in quick so that when Daz has the x-flow kit ready I can just pop the head on and it's all go. I'm going to see my VW mate later for the MOT on my GF's Corsa sport so I'll have a word. No doubt Henny I'll need a few more tips and advice, it's a good job you don't charge. As soon as some progress is made I'll get some pics up.

Cheers Henny, unfortunatly I'm not going to do the deed myself, it's my mate who's doing it (head mechanic at VW stealers). I'm trying to get as many bits together as possible without bugging him all the time, cos he's doing it for me for not much cash. He did a top job with my Mk1 GTi engine so this one should be better. I'll get on the phone in a bit and order a load of bits. Cheers mate RACK

I'm gonna be ripping out and re-building the engine in the next couple of weeks. It's getting treated to Lightened & Balanced Bottom end, 83mm forged pistons and newman 268 cam. I've just got a few questions; 1) Is it worth getting a set of red top injectors and 3.5bar FPR? 2) Should I get an SNS Chip? 3) Should I go for G40 plugs, are they W5PO? 4) Where is it best to get all the seals, gaskets and bearings from, and which one's will I need? 5) Any other bits I'll need?
