Thanks Tony, That is exactly what I was hoping to see. I really can’t remember as I took the loom out the golf way back when you did your swap. I bought the golf as a non runner as I only wanted it for the OBD2 and Teves20 stuff. I know I didn’t cut that black wire but an immobiliser would make sense. Anyway, I’ve now put it where yours is 👍😁

If you could be arsed doing that mate, I’d be delighted. I’d love to know where to put the yellow/blue and to where the black G1/3 actually goes. The yellow/blue wire with the black plug in my picture 100% goes to pin 6 on the ecu plug

Good evening, I’ve read the threads covering this so many times I should be able to figure this out, but as I have no way of testing this, I’d appreciate anyone that can give me some help. Ive got my OBD2 loom all wrapped and ready to fit. I stripped it side by side with the corrado one, removed all the stuff that was to be gone. There is only one thing I can’t answer, Pin G/3 on my golf vr6 loom has a short black wire that does nothing. On the corrado loom, pin G/3 corresponds to pin 6 on the ecu plug-Fuel pump relay turn on. The golf loom has the same colour of wire at pin 6 yellow/blue, but on the golf loom it ends in a plug. Logic says remove the black and replace with the yellow/blue pin 6 to G/3? But I read this from the very guide on here, which basically kills that idea. So, any of you clever people fancy solving this for me ? 😁 Oh, and I remover the golf loom myself and I didn’t cut said black wire in G/3

I bought the radiator with the fans already in place, had it for ages, so long I can’t remember who I bought it from. The OBD2 swap is always something I fancied as it always seems to get good reports. Plus I bought this and as it’s set up for OBD2 it just made sense

Got another couple of wee bits done tonight with the help of a good friend, the wires for the Shrick controller were identified and spliced into, then I finished wrapping the (OBD2) loom. I’ve left 3 tails to connect the controller later on. Also dug our the radiator with the slimline fans

We went on holiday to Canada last year, absolutely loved it. We were based in Dundas, not too far from Toronto, can’t think of any bit I didn’t enjoy........except the length of flight maybe 😁

As far as I remember reading it’ll need some trimming on the underside but you don’t see that bit. I can’t quite try it yet as I need to finish all the dreaded wiring before I can refit the carpet/plastics. It’ll be made to fit, luckily I have a spare or 2 to practice on 😁

Not much progress recently, I’ve been far too busy doing all the jobs that never get done, plus the weather has been great so got to take advantage of it. Anyway, I was always planning to fit a mk4 handbrake handle so I had to weld in an extra stud to allow it to be seated correctly. The front stud was loose and cracked as well so I sorted that out as well

I do still have some, not sure how many as it’s been a while since I looked but there will be a few. As Shaun said, check everything is greased up first and if it doesn’t improve, you know where I am 👍😁

I’m interested in fitting something like this as well. I guess it’s gonna need all new wiring right back to the radio? How about power? Do you use that blue wire at the back of the radio that never seems to get used?

Just give yourself as much room as possible, find the box/boxes and follow them wire by wire, I found that there was hardly any wires they actually cut, just exposed and soldered on, but I get the feeling they must’ve done the work before the loom was positioned as it’s a bit fiddly especially at the wiring that goes to the door(drivers side) And try not to freak out as there are quit a few wires used and it’s looks terrible at the start 🤣

You’ll not see it I don’t think. I found the box for it jammed High up behind the accelerator pedal, behind the soundproofing. 6 black wires going into 4 original wires. One into a big red(live?) , one into a big black(earth?) and the others we’re into a couple or others, one red/yellow, can’t remember the other

Looking again it’s different but very likely to join into the electrics is a very similar fashion

Absolutely mate, I knew it was gonna have to live outside under a cover for a while so I just covered it up knowing that once it’s inside I’ll need to remove it. This car was cheap so it’ll always be worth the effort. I’ve got so many nice parts to put in when it’s eventually done. Bodywork isn’t awful but it’ll never be the prettiest unless it gets a full respray in the future. But that doesn’t worry me, I’ll be delighted just to get driving it again 😁

I’ve found some of the pictures, couple of years old now possibly 3 years. I can’t find any of the after welding pictures..........probably a good thing 🤣
