  1. cheers to zman240uk for sorting me out some Powerflex bushes at a very reasonable price! :)
  2. I bought my VGI in the G-Werks group buy and my VR's been running it along with some 268's i picked up from a friend and i'd say dukest's estimate is probably about right, mine's not been re-mapped yet but there's certainly still a hell of a difference! :D
  3. no worries John, must agree the Fidanza is a lovely bit of kit, fitted like a glove too, could'nt believe the weight difference compared with the stock one when i hefted them both in comparison! :)
  4. yes mate its a bit of a squeeze think you can just about get a feeler gauge in there and thats about it!
  5. They look very nice indeed Ben :) , should make a hell of a difference! I'd go for the 330mm discs if you can mate as can't hurt to have a bit extra!
  6. you want to measure from further up more towards the middle of the spokes on your alloys, basically where the caliper would sit if you looked directly through the spokes at it, this should help!
  7. I fitted my Gruven crack pipe the other weekend and found access thru the front (after bumper & slam panel removal) was a lot more easy than trying to get at it from below etc, to be fair i was changing out the Rad as well as some other stuff but was suprised at how easy it was to strip the front end once you got stuck into it! Edit: don't forget to stick a jack or axle stand under your front engine mount when you remove the bumper, i don't quite understand why, but i did this after someone else recomended it as a safety precaution and the jack definitly was under load after the bumper was removed / bolts loosened!
  8. came accross this Vid on a Golf forum, the r32 driver has a bloody good go at keeping up (looks like he hits 168 at one point) but the F40's definitely got a few more horses on tap! love the howl the F40 makes when it pulls away after they've gone thru the tunnel....pure mechanical magic!!! :) http://video.google.co.uk/videoplay?doc ... &q=vw+golf
  9. All my engine mounts we're changed by G-Werks about 10 months ago, don't know how much this helps but i just double checked the invoice & this is what they fitted:- Vibratechnics - Front Mount Golf Mk2 Engine Mount - Gearbox - 02A Diesel Engine Mount - Rear Golf Mk2 G60 Alex.
  10. i'm pretty sure thats what i paid for mine as remember it was just a shade under 200quid english, great value for money, gotta love that exchange rate at the moment! :)
  11. where did you end up ordering you Fidanza from John? did you use Gripforce too! Alex
  12. I bought mine from the states via a compnay called 'Gripforce' they have a shop on the american version of e-bay:- http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/FIDANZA- ... enameZWDVW would highly recomend them tbh as the service was spot on, i ordered and paid for mine on a saturday afternoon and it turned up at work on the following Thursday, so 4 working days from the states to the UK. Think it worked out about 200quid inc delivery which was loads cheaper than they are over here! :) Pretty sure Craziscot on here used them too with no problems.
  13. I'm running a Fidanza flywheel (its been fitted for about 7 months now) and i'm very impressed with it tbh, helps the VR spin up loads more easily, no issues with juddering etc & it fitted like a glove according to the guys at G-Werks who fitted that and my Quaife for me! i'm not qualified to comment for your level of ouput though dude as you've got considerably more horses than me, but i think its a good quality Mod for the VR.
  14. re: insurance if your planning on using the Mk2 as a daily driver and the Corrado occasionaly then you could always do what i did which is switch my VR onto a limited mileage modified classic policy which cut the standard premium in half, i still run a modded Mk4 Golf 4Mo as a daily driver which has all my no claims bonus allocated against it but my insurance company agreed to 'mirror' my no claims bonus for the 4Mo onto the Corrado too. :) i.e. Normally you can usually only utilize one set of no claims against one car. Took a bit of haggling but its definitely possible, depends on how many years NCB you have though. The policy is a good one as it covers all my Mods on a 'like for like' basis so if something gets damaged or worse yet wrecked they have to replace it to the same standard i.e. not just to the original (un-modified standard).
  15. Hmmm thats worrying :? ...must admit i'm not fitting it myself but had better have a word with the chap who will be! the whole reason its going on is because mine is being Rotrex'd at the same time and i wanted to make every effort to keep the head temps down, have done a shed load of other stuff i.e. replaced pretty much all the water system & fitted a Mocal, inductions not tooooo much of a problem as its going via a nice EIP/Spearco low loss SMIC, but i'd hoped the Raceland would help now it sounds like its just going to create more problems.....Hmmmm time to google ceramic coatings methings!!
  16. how about the auxhillary water pump (the electrically driven one), they're prone to breaking down over time & failing, if its noisy get shot of it!
  17. sounds like your making good progress there Rob, the quiet whistle will die down a bit as the charger gets bedded in and from what i've heard from Craziscot (he's running a Stage 1 C30-94) he gets the howl on gearchange too (probably worth you dropping him a quick pm)!
  18. looking very very tidy there mate! p.s. cheers again for those lengths on the manifold heat wrap again, i finally got round to wrapping mine this week & followed them to the letter and they were spot on, its a swine trying to wrap a couple of the pipes properly on the Raceland just before they merge the 6 into 2 (where the pipes are so close together) but its neat enough!
  19. There's Zero stress on this now Wilhelm i've explained to Daz whats going on & pm'd ya dude....perhaps just try soaking it in plus gas for a few days then try again later next week! I'm not at all confident I can get it off mate. I may well give up and get it towed round the corner to a garage or to g-werks where the suspension transplant is happening. Cheers for spanner offer :)
  20. Ah that must be the other company i was told about, is that the same Mob Daz uses Furkz? he showed me some TT Comps last year that had just been done & they looked great! p.s. have you got a phone number or website address (will try Google anyway)?
  21. cheers Bill, thats not that far from me so could run them over there in the van. thanks for that! Alex
  22. Ok i've done a few searches on all the usual phrases but did'nt throw up much for kent, does anyone know of a good Alloy wheel refurb shop around Kent (want to get my BBS RC's on the 4Mo done), heard talk of a place in Tunbridge Wells but no name / details. A phone number or e-mail address would be great too! Alex
  23. thats the one...gotta love those engine specs eah! 8) bloody mad those Swedes!
  24. 'Supercharged by NS Racing' mate! think i might get it removed though dude, kinda ruins the Stealth.....oh the joy of sneaking up on un-suspecting Porker owners! :D
